Shota observed as rock creatures delivered their gathered items to a checkpoint outside a walled city. Higher-ranked rock creatures, appearing as guards, inspected the offerings. When a leader of the ruling class discovered a hunter hoarding a worm, it violently punished the subordinate, revealing the strict class hierarchy and a strange vibrational communication method.

Even though I sensed the vibrations that came from the rock creatures, it wasn’t as if there was anything I could do about them.

The vibrations didn’t seem to follow any kind of language patterns that I was familiar with, so it really wasn’t something that I could decode. But then again, it would have been strange if it followed any language patterns.

Even with magic, it wasn’t as if I could translate it.

Whatever this language was, it was just too complicated for me to understand.

Though from the way that the leader was pressing down on the hunter, it was very clear what it was saying.

In the end, the leader suddenly stabbed the hunter and the hunter could only take it. But from that stab, there was a part of the hunter that fell off and landed in front of the leader.

Once that part fell off, the leader didn’t hesitate to take it into itself.

"So they can actually feed on each other as well?"

It wasn’t exactly feeding since it was just absorbing parts of each other to become stronger. Though in terms of strength, it wasn’t as if the leader had gotten much stronger after absorbing that piece of the hunter.

In the first place, there was a large difference in strength between them, so it wasn’t as if the leader would have gained much from absorbing this.

But the strange thing was that no one else seemed to dare even think about taking this piece that fell off. It was as if they had long been trained to ignore things like this and only look away when the leader did this.

"It seems like those at the top had long trained those at the bottom on how to act. They can become stronger by absorbing each other, but then they wouldn’t have any workers to boss around and do all the dirty work."

This society of rock creatures had long been developed properly and it seemed like everyone in this society was well aware of their position. They knew exactly what they could and couldn’t do, all because they had been trained in such a way.

Regardless, it wasn’t as if this mattered to me.

If I were to attack the leader now, it wasn’t as if I wouldn’t be able to take it down.

It was just that I had no idea what was considered fatal to these things in the first place.

Even when the leader had stabbed the hunter, it was clear that it had done it in a way that wouldn’t have been fatal for the hunter. The leader was only issuing a punishment to the hunter, it wasn’t as if it was aiming to kill the hunter.

It needed the hunters to keep doing their work after all.

Once the hunter had been punished, the leader just waved its hand as if it was dismissing everyone that was gathered. It had finished issuing the punishment, so there was no need for it to care about these hunters any longer.

None of the hunters seemed to react, but the way that they moved showed that they were relieved. They were all moving faster than they had been moving previously, as if they wanted to leave this place as soon as possible.

It was clear that none of them wanted to stay near this leader any longer than they wanted to.

Once the leader finished with this, the guards went back to open the gate for the hunters.

As they left, the hunters only took a few of the things that they had brought back with them. This was most likely the only thing that they were allowed to bring with them even though they had gathered all of these resources.

It could even be said that this was most likely the tax that they paid to live in this city.

After all, there was the disparity in power between the hunters and the leaders of this society.

Though if they wanted to live in the city, it seemed like they were also hiding from something else dangerous. This was most likely some kind of predator that lived outside the walls.

But in this world, it shouldn’t exist since this place was just a small part of their larger civilization.

The dungeon didn’t replicate everything from their world after all.

With the gates open, it was easy for me to sneak into this city.

The one thing that all the monsters from other worlds had in common was that they didn’t seem to have any way of seeing through magic. As long as I used magic, I was able to easily hide myself with illusions.

It really was funny that there was mana that existed in these places, but the residents weren’t able to use it.

But then again, the mana was most likely because of the dungeon itself.

Once I entered the city, I was amazed by how large it was.

Even though I already had an idea of how large it was because I had seen it from the outside, it was still shocking seeing it from the inside. Especially with how many of the rock creatures lived in this place.

Though looking at them, it was better to say that they were crammed into this city rather than choosing to live in the city.

Just like earlier, it seemed like the lower class of this society had been trained to follow the orders of the upper class without any complaints. Even if it meant living in conditions that weren’t considered liveable at all.

They still went about their lives and did what they could to survive.

The hunters that I followed went back to their homes and gave the meager supplies that they got to their families. They didn’t even bother leaving any to themselves, they just gave them all to their families.

It seemed like the upper class were keeping the lower class in this condition for a reason.

It was only when they were in this state that they would be willing to go out and hunt without any fuss.
