Following a disorienting portal journey, the protagonist and Lupus find themselves in an unfamiliar desert. Lupus, with her keen senses, detects civilization, leading them to a large, strangely deserted city. The city guards are on high alert, wary of an unseen threat. When the protagonist is scanned with a weapon designed to detect corruption, it reacts unusually, indicating a complex situation. The leader of the guards recognizes the protagonist, who has seemingly returned from the dead, and demands information.

My true identity became known, and I was promptly escorted to the city lord’s manor without delay.

During the journey, I managed to pick up a few more details about this territory.

This city was part of a vast kingdom that had previously been under the Democratic Union. This essentially meant that the city was under the jurisdiction of my own Kite Kingdom.

It thus made perfect sense why they recognized me so swiftly.

However, the reverse was not true.

While the territories formerly belonging to the Democratic Union had been ceded to the Kite Kingdom, I simply hadn't had the luxury of time to familiarize myself with all these various kingdoms.

Nevertheless, it was slightly mortifying to discover that this was, in fact, a territory that had once been under my Kite Kingdom’s banner.

Upon reaching the city lord’s manor, I observed that a welcoming reception had already been arranged for my arrival. Yet, I was in no mood to engage in pleasantries with any of these nobles, despite their elaborate preparations.

I felt a degree of disappointment observing their demeanor.

With the world’s end looming, their continued pretense was truly disheartening.

Had I not been in dire need of information at this precise moment, I would have turned on my heel and departed.

"Your Majesty, we have made all the necessary arrangements for you. Please partake in some refreshments and rest before you determine your next course of action," the city lord stated with apparent sincerity, though I could discern his ulterior motives.

The expression in his eyes clearly indicated his contemplation of how to leverage this opportunity for personal gain and closer proximity to me.

Ultimately, I denied him that chance.

"I require information," I declared firmly, disregarding his previous words entirely.

The city lord was naturally taken aback by my bluntness. However, having attained his current standing, he possessed an acute sense of the prevailing mood and recognized that this was not the time for trivialities.

With a dismissive wave to his attendants, he nodded and motioned for me to follow him.

As we entered his private office, I immediately stated, "Tell me everything you know regarding the developments with the forces of Destruction since my departure."

Frankly, I harbored low expectations, considering he was merely a city lord. Yet, to my surprise, this city lord possessed a depth of knowledge far exceeding my assumptions. The primary reason for his comprehensive understanding, however, was the grim reality that the situation had escalated far beyond my worst fears.

Nonetheless, one piece of information utterly blindsided me.

"They actually took no action against the Kite Kingdom?"

The city lord regarded me with a peculiar expression upon hearing my question, but he responded, "Even now, the capital city remains encircled by the forces of Destruction. Everyone anticipated an assault on the rest of the continent, yet they have remained entirely inactive."

The situation was indeed difficult to fathom, especially given that the object of War's desire was confined within the capital.

If War truly intended to abduct her, breaching the capital's defenses to capture her would have been a simple matter for the forces of Destruction.

Therefore, their decision to encamp outside the capital in such a manner...

"Do they seek something else?" The city lord voiced the very question that occupied my thoughts.

However, even if the city lord posed this question to me, I was incapable of providing an answer. I had no insight into the motivations of the forces of Destruction, or more accurately, I lacked understanding of War's intentions.

War held command over the forces of Destruction, rendering their passive stance outside the capital an undeniable consequence of his directive.

None of this computed; their objective remained entirely elusive.

Despite this confusion, a sliver of relief washed over me as I inquired, "So, does this imply that all those within the capital are still secure there?"

The city lord paused momentarily before replying, "I have received no reports of attempts to breach the capital. However, I doubt they have ample provisions remaining. It has been nearly a month since they were besieged, and the racial alliance forces have been utterly incapable of delivering any supplies. Even with the aid of transport magic, I heard that something was obstructing it."

Although the city lord appeared concerned, my own anxiety was minimal, as I was aware of the prime minister's extensive preparations.

Even if the capital endured a year-long siege, he had meticulously stockpiled provisions far exceeding the capital's needs. With the prime minister and chancellor at the helm, I harbored no fears for their safety.

My sole apprehension was the possibility of them succumbing to despair and foolishly attempting to charge the forces of Destruction.

Having ascertained their safety, my immediate priority was to devise a plan for their rescue.

To achieve this, the assistance of the racial alliance was indispensable.Even with my amplified strength, it was rendered futile if my stamina was completely depleted before reaching the final boss. This reality necessitated the backing of the racial alliance forces. "Assist me in establishing contact with your king and the racial alliance. I have matters of importance to deliberate with them." The city lord’s expression shifted uneasily upon hearing my request, yet my stern demeanor left him with no recourse. Consequently, he was compelled to fulfill my demand, arranging the means to connect me with the racial alliance.
