The protagonist used his creation divine energy on a strange portal, unknowingly repairing a warped section. He discovered this power could fix things even without complete understanding, by brute-forcing it with immense energy, though it left him drained and vulnerable. After repeated attempts and recovery periods, the portal was fixed, but powering it remained an unresolved issue.

We found ourselves utterly helpless, completely unaware of what steps to take next. The portal, as far as we could tell, appeared to be repaired.

However, the primary hurdle now was its activation, a feat impossible without a sufficient power supply.

Even before contemplating how we could furnish this device with power, the more critical question loomed: what sort of energy did this portal even require?

Consequently, both Lupus and I scrutinized the ring intently, searching for any discernible clues.

Lupus cast a glance at me, seemingly prompting me to utilize my creation divine energy. Yet, this endeavor was impossible at that moment, as I had no frame of reference for how to proceed with such an application of divine energy.

To compound matters, there was no discernible base for this power supply system.

Thus, even if I had desired to, I recognized it would demand a far greater expenditure of divine energy than when I had employed it to mend the portal.

A moment's carelessness could potentially leave me utterly depleted.

This was not a course of action I could undertake unless the situation became truly dire.

Shifting my focus away from the portal itself, I began to examine the surrounding environment.

Based on my understanding, there should have been some form of wiring providing power to the portal. From my observations, the technology utilized by this ancient civilization bore a resemblance to the technology of my previous existence.

Therefore, similarities were to be expected.

To locate the power source, I reasoned I should search for some connection linking to the portal.

The most probable location appeared to be...

"Absolutely nothing," I declared after clearing away the debris.

My hope had been to discover some sort of receptacle or fixture where the supports for the portal were located, but not a single trace remained. Or perhaps, if they existed, I was simply unable to perceive them.

It was this realization that prompted me to step outside and gaze at the lights illuminating the space above us, sparking a new thought.

"Could you bring those down?" I inquired of Lupus and Joan.

Despite the modest size of the structure, the chamber itself possessed a considerable height. This was the reason I requested the two of them to retrieve the lights from above.

Both of them appeared taken aback and perplexed by my request, yet they proceeded to inspect the lights as I had asked. It wasn't long before they managed to dislodge a few of the fixtures and present them to me.

To my astonishment, these lights remained illuminated even after being detached from the ceiling.

"Is there some kind of independent power source?"

This was the only logical conclusion I could draw upon witnessing the lights' continued luminescence.

After a moment's contemplation, I took one of the lights and deliberately smashed it against the ground.

Following the impact, a wry smile touched my lips.

Even after being slammed onto the floor, the light had gouged a substantial hole in the ground with minimal apparent damage to itself. This light possessed a resilience far exceeding its appearance, evidenced by its ability to inflict such a considerable indentation upon the earth.

"Can you break this for me?" I asked Lupus and Joan, who regarded me with puzzled expressions.

Ultimately, Joan stepped forward, tearing the object apart with her claws as I requested.

It required a few attempts, but she succeeded in dismantling it.

However, judging by the way she rubbed her claws afterward, the act seemed to have caused her discomfort.

This object was indeed formidable if it could inflict pain even upon her claws, especially considering I had observed her augmenting them with divine energy prior to striking the light.

As the light fixture was being rent asunder, I noticed it maintained its glow up to a certain point. This observation allowed me to precisely identify the source of its power.

Observing the internal structure, I extracted the two separated fragments and then applied my divine energy to them.

It seemed to draw a surprisingly small amount of energy, despite my complete unfamiliarity with the object's nature. In the end, I managed to piece it back together, though it appeared devoid of any remaining power.

That was until I brought it near one of the lights.

The instant it made contact with the light, it seemed to transfer energy, causing the light to flare to life. Even though the light had been bisected, the portion I brought into contact with the energy source continued to emit illumination.

"So it's contact-based energy transfer... but the energy should have dissipated when Joan split it. That is, unless this component possesses some kind of self-charging capability..."

The more I pondered, the more my admiration for the technological prowess of this ancient civilization grew.

Their capacity to engineer such an object made it difficult to fathom the sheer extent of their advancement during their zenith.

However, this was hardly the opportune moment for such reflections.

Turning back to Lupus and Joan, I addressed them, "Could you procure more of these components for me?"

Both of them seemed surprised, though it wasn't as if they failed to grasp the reason behind my request.

A solitary power cell would undoubtedly be insufficient to energize the portal.

Being able to generate light that provided a modicum of illumination was one thing, but operating a portal was an entirely different matter entirely. Ripping open the fabric of space-time, as it turned out, was no simple feat. Therefore, to utilize the portal, a substantial quantity of these power sources would indeed be necessary.
