Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure Chapter 2151: A trail of light

Since we couldn't uncover any clues just by lingering outside, I shoved the door open.
As soon as the door swung wide, a sensation hit me of something rushing right past us.
I recognized it wasn't divine energy, yet I had no idea precisely what it could be.
It seemed like some force within this temple had preserved it in this timeless state all along. With the door now ajar, the temple no longer felt locked in that frozen moment.
This odd sensation left me at a loss for words.
That's when I shifted my focus to the massive statue of Solista across the church.
This statue towered over all the others we'd encountered before, and this time, divine energy radiated from it. Sensing that brought me a wave of relief, confirming I could establish a link here.
The gods' presence lingered in this temple.
So I approached Solista's statue, bowed low before it in prayer, and even extended my hand to touch it.
The instant my hand touched the statue, the divine energy within surged through me.
Thus, I unleashed my own divine energy, striving to forge that connection.
Yet no matter my efforts, no response came to my outreach.
"I know that you’re there." I declared after a prolonged silence.
After all, the divine energy from the statue linked directly to mine, stemming from the Mark of God bestowed by Solista.
This connection proved beyond doubt that Solista awaited on the other end.
She was simply choosing to ignore me...
"Answer me." I demanded with greater force as silence persisted.
But nothing changed; no sign appeared whatsoever.
This silence made it feel like the gods had utterly forsaken me, despite the Mark of God still on my hand.
"Is this really how you’re going to treat me? After everything that I’ve done, you’re just going to ignore me like this?" Indignation crept into my voice as I spoke.
Deep down, I'd half-expected this, especially after the visions from the God of Creation.
I was merely a pawn in their grand scheme, so their abandonment felt inevitable...
These thoughts stirred a spark of rage within my chest.
No one enjoys being exploited and discarded like this.
But what choice did I have?
"Click."
Before despair could fully grip me, the lights abruptly dimmed.
Not every light vanished, just most of them.
"Is this supposed to be a path?" I wondered aloud, eyeing the remaining glows.
The way they lit up the floor beneath created what looked like a clear trail.
Still, I'd rather have a direct conversation than this vague guidance.
This wasn't the response I craved.
Particularly since the trail led straight out of the temple.
The path's direction screamed that its maker wanted me gone from here.
"Is this all that you have to say?" I called out, met again by silence.
My anger flared hotter at the lack of reply, though I couldn't touch the gods beyond the mortal realm.
"If this is how you’re treating me..." I grumbled under my breath, out of options.
Lupus and Joan watched me with concern, but I simply instructed, "Let’s find another way out of this place."
Joan nodded along, while Lupus gazed at me pleadingly.
Through our bond, I knew Lupus's mind perfectly, but I resisted that idea.
"Fine, I’ll follow the path." I relented when her stare didn't waver.
I doubted anything worthwhile lay ahead, yet Lupus wouldn't let it go.
Exiting the temple, more lights appeared to guide us onward.
Lights from nearby buildings formed a unified trail, obviously meant to lead us somewhere specific.
I simply couldn't shake the uneasy feeling about wherever these lights might take us.
After all, the gods hardly seemed to favor us right now.
"I know, I’ll see where it leads." I told Lupus, catching the look in her eyes.
Truth was, I wasn’t anticipating much from it at all.
