Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure Chapter 2128: Not much for talking

Although the withering had vanished, this tree clearly hadn't returned fully to its original condition.
It resembled nothing more than an ordinary tree, yet as the origin of this realm, it shouldn't have appeared so mundane.
This tree deserved a majestic presence that outshone every other tree around.
Hence, its current look showed that full recovery remained distant.
That explained why the wood elementals showed no signs of wanting me to halt.
Still, I repeated the same excuse I'd told the other elementals.
"I need to recover before I can keep giving it more divine energy."
No wood elemental could refute that logic. So despite their clear disappointment, they allowed me to walk away from the tree.
Once distanced from the tree, I approached the wood elemental ancestor and said, "If it’s alright, there’s something that I want to discuss with you."
The wood elemental ancestor had reverted to its usual form after stepping aside. Yet a face emerged again when I addressed it.
As soon as the face formed, the wood elemental ancestor declared, "There’s nothing for us to discuss with you."
This response left me stunned.
A puzzled expression crossed my face as I stared at the wood elemental ancestor, but the face began fading without further words.
The scene only deepened my bewilderment.
After all, every other elemental ancestor had at least engaged in conversation with me.
It made no sense for this wood elemental ancestor to refuse entirely.
Unwilling to drop it since something felt off, I pondered what to do with such an uncooperative being.
With no choice, I headed to what I assumed was the next ancestor—though it was still just my hunch that each represented a distinct one.
Reaching the following tree, I asked, "Can we have a talk?"
No immediate reply came from the tree, but I stood patiently before it, awaiting a response.
After some time, a face finally surfaced on the tree and stated, "I have nothing to talk to you about."
After that ancestor's words, I proceeded to the next tree with the same inquiry.
Time after time, a face would manifest on each tree I approached, delivering the identical rejection. Clearly, none of the wood elemental ancestors wished to converse with me.
Awkward looks surrounded me on all sides.
Not only did my guards wear uncomfortable expressions, but the wood elementals themselves looked equally uneasy.
Usually aligned with their ancestor, the wood elementals felt differently now. The one being opposed was their benefactor who had come to aid them.
Offending that person would spell disaster for them.
Understanding their concerns, I reassured them calmly, "It’s not a problem that they don’t want to talk to me. I’m sure that they have their reasons."
My words failed to ease their tension.
I expected as much since it offered no real solution.
Truth was, nothing more I could say would help in that moment.
Any attempt would ring hollow and unconvincing.
Thus, they wouldn't trust whatever reassurance I tried to give.
Best to simply let matters rest as they were.
Regarding the wood elemental ancestors, my only option was persistent persuasion. I'd keep approaching them, hoping they'd eventually open up.
Yet from appearances, success seemed unlikely.
The deeper I pondered, the more baffling it all became.
There was simply no cause for their refusal to speak with me.
I'd never wronged the wood elemental ancestors in any way.
In truth, this marked my first encounter with any of them.
Puzzlement grew stronger the longer I dwelled on it.
Still, the evidence before me was undeniable.
So I resolved, "I guess I’ll just have to keep talking to them to wear them down."
...
Days later, the withered tree had gradually revived to its true glory. Now it brimmed with vibrant life, worthy of being dubbed a tree of life.
With the tree restored, the wood elementals collectively sighed in relief, knowing their home was secure once more.
Ultimately, though, I failed to converse with any wood elemental ancestors.
