Shota and his group discovered strange stumps radiating divine energy, identified as part of the long-sought pillar. He noticed one stump unnaturally protected from constant lightning strikes, showing no burn marks despite the environment. Lightning bolts targeted him despite his array of lightning rods, directed by the stump's divine power. Using his Mark of God and a divine energy domain, Shota approached safely and injected energy into the stump, causing it to suddenly light up.

"Phew..." Finally, I breathed out a sigh of relief.

Although this stump had apparently developed some self-defense feature, it clearly hadn’t lost sight of the task it was made for.

Once the stump began glowing, just a brief pause occurred before rays shot out from it.

These beams of light matched every other array we’d encountered up to now.

That at least confirmed the array connected to this stump was operating properly. Even with changes to the stump over time, it would still allow us to access the path leading to the elementals’ domain.

Above all, it showed this device was holding firm as a barrier against the elementals.

Should it fail... that would spell disaster.

Even a hint of elemental power was enough to rouse the corruption energy this much.

A total seal failure? No one could predict the Destruction forces’ response.

We weren’t terrified of them, but full readiness wasn’t ours yet.

The production lines still churned out gear, and not all fighters were fully armed. More weapons would equip everyone eager to battle.

The light lines stretched onward briefly before halting.

We recognized the signal from past experiences, and soon lights pierced the heavens. This told us the entrance stood open, always in its familiar spot.

Getting there wouldn’t be simple, though...

Or so I first believed, until I saw my earlier concern wasn’t an issue anymore.

The array had distracted us at first, but once focused, it was impossible to overlook.

I’d figured we’d need to hack through to the entrance, yet no lightning struck this zone.

Beyond the stump, bolts kept crashing down relentlessly.

Inside the array’s bounds, however, something repelled those strikes. Outside, twice the fury poured from the sky.

The array didn’t block the lightning—it merely diverted it.

Yet this was bizarre, never seen in prior arrays. No reason explained why this one suddenly handled it.

Still, it smoothed our path. My companions stayed wary, barriers active, distrusting the array fully.

Guided by prior knowledge, we swiftly reached the entrance.

Peering down, it resembled all previous portals.

"Is there a strange smell?"

That alone set this spot apart. Still, the odor didn’t reveal what made it unique.

It didn’t take long, however, to uncover the difference here.

"Where are we?"

That question filled every mind as we emerged from the entrance.

Processing the sight proved tough since nothing made sense.

Nothing but green filled our vision.

"Is this the land before time?"

The group missed my reference, too stunned to heed my words.

Time’s touch seemed absent here, with plants thriving wildly. These weren’t ordinary—they dwarfed any known flora.

The scale evoked a prehistoric era, everything oversized.

Dinosaurs seemed inevitable in such a realm.

None burst from the foliage, though.

At worst, this haven felt serene and still, devoid of lurkers.

One issue lingered, however.

"Where do we go now?"

From the stone ledge, vast expanses stretched into view, hinting at the area’s immensity. Illusory barriers or not, distances warped in this hugeness.

The sheer scope showed how broad the search would be.

Locating the resident elementals wouldn’t come easily.

"At least we can set up camp here..."

Camping outside amid lightning storms would’ve been hellish, demanding heavy safeguards for nightly survival.

Here, mortal peril stayed at bay...

"Grr..."

So we assumed, until a growl echoed from the underbrush.

It mimicked a beast’s roar, and out charged a feral creature.

A massive sabertooth tiger...

"If this kind of sabertooth lives here, then does that mean that there really are dinosaurs?"
