Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure Chapter 2009: Calling for backup

Previously on Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure...
Shota reached out to grasp the mysterious floating egg just as monsters recovered and advanced toward the group. With the egg secured in his pocket, its energy ceased, allowing him to activate Joan's Mark of God; she enveloped herself in flames and charged the exit, scattering the pursuing beasts. As side attackers closed in, the egg emerged and unleashed a powerful wave of energy, repelling the monsters without harm. Realizing its self-awareness, Shota questioned the egg, which bobbed in affirmation, confirming its consciousness despite remaining unhatched. Urged by Klein, the party readied to flee as the dazed creatures stirred once more.

Thanks to Joan's blazing flames forging the way ahead, we managed to escape the cave at last.

Occasionally, the egg unleashed further bursts of energy that scattered the monsters aside.

Not only did the initial group of monsters spot the weakness in Joan's fiery assault, but additional beasts followed suit, attempting to bypass the flames just like the first ones.

Yet, none succeeded in closing in on us, thanks to the protective surges of energy from the egg.

Whenever these waves struck them, the monsters displayed the identical bizarre response as the pioneers—almost as if they relished the impact.

It felt like some enticing element lurked within those energy bursts that thrilled them upon contact.

The expressions twisting across their faces were definitely not a sight I cared to witness...

Once we emerged from the cave, I wasted no time in inquiring, "Have you called for reinforcements yet?"

Klein nodded affirmatively, then gestured toward a spot and replied, "They'll arrive from over there."

I responded with a nod of my own and commanded, "Let's move!"

At my order, Klein and the royal guards urged their wyverns onward to carve out a safe route for us, while positioning themselves strategically to encircle and protect me.

Now that the inexplicable entity had been handled, it appeared they were reclaiming their leadership roles.

I had no objections, as there was a particular task I needed to attend to.

"What exactly are you?" I questioned the egg hovering silently by my side.

A twinge of embarrassment hit me right after posing the query, given that I was directing it at an egg incapable of any verbal reply.

As anticipated, the egg offered no answer.

It trembled slightly in response to my words, yet showed no signs of further action—after all, responding verbally was beyond its means.

Thus, I began pondering alternative methods for us to connect.

But suddenly, an unexpected distraction yanked my focus away from the egg once more.

The feeling started off peculiar, gradually intensifying until it demanded full attention.

Most oddly, it originated from an unexpected quarter.

Turning to face that source, I furrowed my brow involuntarily, noticing the eerie alterations in the pursuing monsters.

The oddity wasn't limited to the aura they emitted; their whole forms had transformed dramatically.

Among the goblins, certain ones stood taller and more robust than their kin.

For the orcs, some boasted tougher hides and more formidable tusks.

As for the ogres, a few had swelled to heights surpassing the rest.

In essence, every one of these creatures appeared to have advanced in strength somehow, as though triggered by an evolutionary force.

Upon closer inspection, I spotted a familiar figure amid them.

The identifying mark was the lingering burn scar on this goblin, unchanged despite its evolved look.

This particular goblin had been repelled earlier by the odd energy from the egg.

Clearly, their peculiar bliss during the energy impact held a deeper purpose.

Moreover, it clarified the monsters' desperate craving for the egg.

Merely soaking up that energy had reshaped them this way—what catastrophe might unfold if they claimed the egg itself, the origin of that power?

Handing it over would undoubtedly spell disaster.

"Where are those reinforcements?" I pressed Klein, who was gazing in the same direction.

Klein remained silent, glancing at a subordinate instead, who answered, "It'll be some time before they arrive."

Hearing this, we all creased our foreheads in concern, but I swiftly secured the egg to prevent any further outbursts. Despite its apparent alliance with us, the egg's actions weren't proving particularly beneficial.

Should it deploy that energy again to repel the beasts, they'd only grow more powerful, just like before.

The greater their might, the graver the threat to our group.

Therefore, I had to ensure the egg stayed inactive.

"Endure until help gets here. We've got the upper hand for now, so they can't touch us."

Klein agreed with a nod, then abruptly suggested, "How about we take to the skies?"

"Not yet. We can try that afterward," I replied, my expression deep in contemplation.

Since these monsters lacked flight capabilities, ascending would evade most of them easily. However, if they scattered in retreat, the risk would skyrocket as they'd fan out everywhere.

Numerous villages dotted the nearby regions, after all.

Through our combined efforts, we held off the monsters until reinforcements finally arrived.

Yet, the foes had summoned their own allies, who materialized around us without warning.

These newcomers disregarded our presence entirely, fixating solely on the egg drifting close to me.

They craved only to seize the egg for its evolutionary essence, and I couldn't intervene swiftly enough to halt them.
