Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure Chapter 2007: Egg
Previously on Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure...
Joan's fierce charge scattered the monsters, allowing us to carve out a way into the cave.
Still, that didn't give us any clue about the dangers lurking within.
Thankfully, the blaze encircling Joan cast sufficient illumination, letting us spot our surroundings clearly.
Yet, this bold rush couldn't go on forever.
No obstacle inside the cave halted our progress.
The truth was, the cave itself was rather small to begin with.
Before long, we arrived at its dead end, with no further path ahead.
Given the cave's brevity, it puzzled me greatly why the monsters had lingered outside initially. Sneaking in for whatever treasure lay here should have been a simple task for any of those creatures.
Yet, not a single one had attempted it...
"Could it be that the item here wasn't prepared until today? They might have detected only a hint of its power before, but it hadn't unleashed its full might like this until now?"
This seemed like the sole reason I could come up with, though accepting it proved quite difficult for me.
With no other direction to explore, my sole option was to search for the source of this radiating energy.
Being nearer now, the energy's presence grew even stronger in my perception.
Simultaneously, an oddly peculiar vibe emanated from this force.
Words failed me in capturing it precisely, yet the feeling it evoked was both recognizable and alien. It resembled mana, yet surpassed any mana I'd ever encountered in intensity.
It echoed divine energy too, but fell short of the divine energies I'd known in potency.
Truly, it struck as an odd hybrid, perfectly balanced between these two energy types.
Given how it permeated the entire area, locating its origin proved straightforward.
The source sat squarely in the cave's heart, obscured by a thick coating of dust that concealed its form.
Once I zeroed in on its position, a sweep of my hand summoned a veil of mist enveloping it. This mist swept aside the accumulated grime, unveiling its actual shape.
"An egg?"
This wasn't merely noting its form; it precisely identified the object itself.
Its appearance left little room for confusion with anything else.
However, its presence in such a spot defied all logic.
"Roar!"
The roar echoing from behind snapped me to attention, leaving no moment for contemplation.
The beasts, stunned by our sudden assault, had regrouped and now appeared poised to swarm inside. Delay meant we'd soon be encircled by the incoming horde.
We'd face more than encirclement; they'd seal us in completely by obstructing our lone escape route.
Hence, fleeing this spot without delay was imperative.
Regaining my focus, I gestured once more, causing the mist encircling the egg to hoist it upward.
Unlike earlier, when I couldn't manipulate the divine energy mist whatsoever, I'd advanced to the stage where lifting objects with it came naturally.
Unexpectedly, though, it responded in kind.
As the egg rose from the earth, a shiver coursed through it.
I figured it was merely the egg's instinctive quiver from the lift, but that proved wrong. Following the initial shake, further quakes rattled the egg.
Something had evidently set it off, prompting this outburst.
The vibrations grew so intense that my grip via the divine energy mist slipped away.
A brief falter in my command shattered the mist, sending the egg plummeting downward.
This spelled disaster, as I'd elevated it to a considerable altitude; a drop from there would surely crack it open.
Unaware of the egg's nature, I refused to let it break this way—at least not before uncovering its type and the reason behind its energy emission.
In my frantic bid to seize the falling egg, relief washed over me; no rescue was needed.
A glowing sheath materialized around the egg, akin to an energy barrier that abruptly seized it. The pulses it emitted matched the peculiar energy I'd sensed earlier.
Such a sudden manifestation suggested its originator was close at hand.
Yet, even with my senses extended maximally, nothing turned up in the vicinity.
The sole emitter of this energy appeared to be whatever dwelled within the egg, which remained encased. From inside, it shouldn't possess the capability for such feats.
Nevertheless, no other nearby source seemed capable of producing that energy.
Meanwhile, that very energy hoisted the egg skyward, propelling it straight toward me, perched atop Joan's head.
Evidently, I was the intended recipient of this floating egg's approach.
