Shadows of the Deep Space Chapter 1666: 534: Return Voyage (Part 5)

Afterglow of Light: Quit spouting nonsense. If you are terrified, just admit it!
Seeing this, Su Ming chuckled and typed out a quick reply.
“Teacher Mia, I have your back! There is no need for you to personally address these clowns; I can deal with them!”
The moment the message appeared, the entire comment section erupted.
“Am I seeing things? That really sounds like General Su Ming!”
“It is definitely him!”
…
A flood of messages streamed past.
Mia was startled by Su Ming’s abrupt intervention, but she quickly responded with a gleeful jab.
“Well, my student is quite right. I don’t need to lift a finger to handle you lot. Aren’t you the one begging for a duel? Go fight Su Ming first!”
Afterglow of Light: Do you think I am an idiot? I will not duel him. You are just bringing in outside help.
Gentle Fairy: Are you backing down now? You are free to bring in your own help; call out your commander if you dare!
…
Despite Mia’s continued taunts, her opponent remained silent.
Su Ming observed this and let out a soft laugh.
Just then, Li Menghan stepped forward to provide an update.
“Lord Su Ming, we are approaching the Kager Defense Line shortly.”
“I am aware.”
Su Ming set aside his wrist device and glanced at Li Menghan.
He had decided against returning via the primary defense line, choosing instead to enter Federation territory through a smaller, secondary route.
“Sir, will we be able to make it through without trouble given the cargo we are carrying?”
Rhein and his group asked, clearly anxious.
If they declared these goods normally, there was a high risk they would be confiscated as state property! After all, these were high-value United Army relics.
Losing that haul would be devastating!
“Rest assured, I will handle it. Li Menghan, send a communication request to the defense line sector.”
Su Ming commanded.
“Understood!”
Li Menghan promptly initiated an encrypted communication request to the command center of the Kager Defense Line.
“Communication request transmitted!”
“Awaiting acknowledgement.”
“Request confirmed, establishing secure link.”
…
The hologram of Major General Lin Ling popped up before Su Ming.
“General Lin Ling!”
Su Ming greeted with gravity.
They had navigated this exact route when the Thirteenth Legion returned from their mission against the Dark Star Empire.
“General, what are your instructions?”
Lin Ling was surprised by the sudden contact, but immediately saluted.
“We require passage. Clear the lane immediately.”
“My apologies, General, but we are currently in a heightened state of security, and mandatory inspections are in effect,” Lin Ling stated apologetically.
Su Ming frowned, choosing to invoke his authority directly.
“As a Federation General, I am formally notifying you that I am conducting a confidential, high-priority shipment. Open the defense line for an inspection-free transit at once.”
Lin Ling’s composure wavered; while she knew he was a potential candidate for General, she had not realized he had been promoted in secret. She nodded.
“General, please pause for a moment; I must verify your credentials.”
“Very well.”
Su Ming replied firmly.
Under current protocols, only Generals, the Council Chairman, and the Vice Chairman held the clearance to bypass defense inspections. Everyone else was subject to standard reporting and checks.
As the seconds ticked by, Rhein and the others felt their nerves fraying, fearing that a failed verification would lead to a disaster.
Fortunately, Lin Ling soon confirmed Su Ming’s status successfully.
“Thank you for your patience, General. The data check is clear. Opening the gates now!”
“My thanks.”
Su Ming offered a brief nod before cutting the connection.
“It worked.”
…
Rhein and his team let out a collective sigh of relief and cheered.
“Calm down, you look pathetic,” Su Ming teased, scolding them.
Celeste’s projection yawned as she chimed in.
“Don’t celebrate yet. Where are we docking? If we head to Starlight City, we will be exposed instantly.”
The triumphant expressions of the men vanished as they looked to Su Ming.
“Right, boss, where are we heading?”
“We are going to the World Eye. I will secure a port from Shadler.”
Su Ming keyed a message to Shadler on his wrist device.
“Boss is the best!”
…
The group was filled with renewed excitement.
“That is a solid plan. Setting course for World Eye!” Celeste added.
“Proceed,” Su Ming directed.
Li Menghan guided the Sunshine past the defensive barrier and engaged the superluminal drive, hurtling toward the World Eye sector.
…..

Several hours later, on the outskirts of the World Eye at the Dark Moon Space Port.
Shadler, accompanied by Lum and others, paced restlessly. They kept scanning the dark expanse above, muttering to themselves.
“Why are they not here yet?”
“Young Master, they should be arriving at any moment. Pray, be patient.”
Lum advised him.
Suddenly, the stars shifted as ripples tore through the silence. The Sunshine pulled the Grey Angel out of Subspace. Numerous mechanical constructs were clamped onto the Grey Angel, cloaking its appearance from the naked eye.
“They arrived!”
Shadler shouted with enthusiasm.
The Sunshine pulled the Grey Angel right to the edge of the Dark Moon Space Port but did not dock. Instead, the ship opened a cargo hatch.
The V Generation Mecha known as the Grey Hunter Envoy streaked out, maneuvering into the Dark Moon Port and locking into place.
Clatter!
The cockpit hissed open.
Su Ming and Rhein floated out into the hanger.
“Big Brother, you finally made it!”
Shadler ran forward, shouting in delight.
“You arrived early, didn’t you? You must have waited a long time,” Su Ming said with a warm smile.
“Not at all, Big Brother! Is there anything you need me to do?” Shadler asked with a wide grin.
