“Damn it!”
Su Ming agilely evaded the barrage and accelerated toward the Grey Angel, intent on breaching the massive ship’s hull. Unfortunately, Kadon’s hulking mass obstructed his trajectory once more, its colossal metal claws lashing out to rend him apart.
Su Ming countered by thrusting his Dragon Base Spear forward.
Clang!
The force of the collision brought Ilyas to a jarring halt.
“We cannot advance without neutralizing this monstrosity!” Ilyas’s spectral form manifested behind Su Ming, her voice urgent.
“I understand!” Su Ming funneled his energy into Ilyas, pushing it to its kinetic limits.
Clang!
The Dragon Base Spear impaled Kadon’s right claw, driving deep into its forearm as dark crimson lightning pulsed violently across the metal.
Sizzle! Boom!
Kadon’s massive limb disintegrated in a shower of sparks. As Su Ming had anticipated, the creature was held together by makeshift repairs, leaving its structural integrity pathetic.
Writhing in agony, Kadon attempted to shift its bulk to grant the Grey Angel a clear line of fire against Su Ming. Refusing to yield the advantage, Su Ming commanded Ilyas to shadow Kadon, using the beast as a living shield while driving the spear into its chest cavity. Kadon swung out with its remaining claw, but Su Ming ignored the blow, partially parrying with his left arm while plunging the spear deeper into the chest.
Because of Kadon’s sheer size, the weapon failed to pierce the Metal Spark directly. Undeterred, Su Ming triggered the Dragon Base Spear’s specialized trait, greedily draining the creature’s energy. The spear began to emit a blinding, radiant glow. Kadon let out a harrowing wail as its biological output plummeted.
Observing the decay of its puppet, the Eshifar Deputy Clan Leader commanded all interception batteries to lock onto the immediate vicinity, deploying rows of ports to launch a volley of nuclear bombs.
“Careful! They’re willing to vaporize Kadon just to take you down,” Celeste warned.
As Su Ming prepared to maneuver Ilyas away, Kadon’s left claw seized Ilyas’s arm, its Metal Spark vibrating violently in preparation for a self-detonation.
Swish!
The Grey Angel seized the moment, unleashing a relentless torrent of beams and nuclear missiles.
“Boss, retreat!” Rhein and the others screamed.
Su Ming’s gaze hardened; he forcibly discharged the accumulated energy from the Dragon Base Spear.
Boom!
Kadon’s chest cavity erupted outward. Instantly, Su Ming severed his mecha’s left arm and utilized an precise space jump to vanish just as the cataclysmic barrage decimated the area.
Rumble!
Consecutive miniature suns ignited, incinerating Kadon’s remains. A moment later, Ilyas materialized in the distant void; with a surge of will, her left arm regenerated.
“Accursed humans!” The Eshifar Deputy Clan Leader bellowed, realigning the interception cannons to track Su Ming with a ferocious barrage.
Su Ming guided Ilyas through a series of erratic dodges, his body encased in crackling black lightning. He transformed into a streak of midnight light, slicing through the waves of fire as he dove straight for the Grey Angel’s power core.
“Yes! Exactly like that!” Celeste cheered.
The Grey Angel immediately deployed its Energy Barrier.
Su Ming focused his intent, thrusting the spear with every ounce of his remaining strength.
Clang!
The Dragon Base Spear struck the Energy Barrier, causing the space to warp before the barrier finally shattered under the pressure. Ilyas darted through the gap.
“Dragon Base Stone!” The Eshifar Deputy Clan Leader’s tone shifted into genuine shock, quickly engaging the Klein Barrier.
Clang!
The spear rebounded off the Klein Barrier, the immense force sending Ilyas spiraling backward. The surrounding sky filled with hostile fire.
Su Ming urgently steered Ilyas away from the incoming beams.
Rumble!
The mecha shuddered as several hits connected. Frustrated, Su Ming frowned and demanded, “Celeste, did you not claim it was in a weakened state? Why is the barrier still so resilient?”
“It has fused with the Grey Angel, naturally it retains its durability! But remain calm; it cannot shift its position and is essentially a stationary target. Continue to batter the Klein Barrier and it will inevitably collapse,” Celeste replied.
“Understood.”
The Eshifar Deputy Clan Leader watched Ilyas with rising anxiety. This development was a living nightmare; the Mist Star Sea was already a death trap, and yet these Federation pests had managed to track them here. What was worse, this Level 5 battleship was being treated like prey. The intruder possessed a VI-type Biological Mecha capable of rending energy barriers with the Dragon Base Spear. Now, immobilized and with the main cannon offline, they were defenseless.
Taking a steadying breath, Su Ming piloted Ilyas back into the fray.
The Grey Angel responded with another savage volley. Su Ming moved with the fluid grace of a fish in a current, relentlessly closing the distance. Suddenly, the Grey Angel’s outer plating vibrated, and metallic spikes erupted from its hull.
Fizz!
The spikes glinted with residual black lightning.
“Su Ming, beware the spikes!” Celeste warned.
Swoosh! The spikes launched with the velocity of a lightning strike.
Su Ming’s pupils narrowed, his perception slowing time itself. He pushed Ilyas forward, accelerating directly into the path of the projectiles. Weaving through the gaps with surgical precision, he struck the Klein Barrier once more.
Crack!
The barrier rippled visibly.
“Break!” Su Ming ground his teeth, his spirit flooding the weapon. Yet, the barrier remained stubborn, resisting his power through sheer toughness.
“Foolish creature! You think you can crush my defense? Die!” The Eshifar Deputy Clan Leader flooded the sector with concentrated beams and missiles.
As Su Ming prepared to evade, a hidden anti-matter charge detonated.
Boom!
A sphere of void-rending energy consumed the space around them. Su Ming emerged from the haze, Ilyas staggered and scorched, its internal biological structures exposed through heavy armor damage.
“Su Ming, take care! If you suffer more direct hits, Ilyas will reach its limit,” Celeste cautioned.
“I am aware, but the output of that ship is suffocatingly high at this range.”
Su Ming was finding the situation increasingly dire.
“Then engage from a distance; chip away at the Klein Barrier,” Celeste advised.
“Very well!”
Su Ming maneuvered Ilyas, dodging while charging a massive Kais Beam, sweeping it across the Grey Angel’s defenses.
Rumble!
The Klein Barrier groaned under the impact, waves of interference flickering across it, but it steadied itself with alarming speed. Su Ming scowled.
The enemy ship opened more ports, unleashing a torrent of cluster bombs and beams. Even with Celeste’s predictive pathing, the density of the explosion range forced Ilyas to absorb several impacts. Gritting his teeth, Su Ming held his ground and cycled another Kais Beam sweep.
Rumble!
The barrier rippled again, only to regain its composure mere seconds later.
“It is useless,” Celeste projected. “Its recovery rate is too high. You will be depleted long before the barrier falls.”
Su Ming knew she was correct; his raw power was insufficient for a war of attrition.
“Then I will commit to a full frontal assault.”
Su Ming’s gaze turned icy, his spirit exploding with intensity.
Ilyas’s biological signatures spiked, the entire mecha bathing in a shroud of terrifying lightning. He poured every ounce of potential into the Dragon Base Spear.
“Divine Strike!”
Su Ming drove Ilyas forward like a descending star, hurtling directly toward the Eshifar Deputy Clan Leader’s position.
“Court death if you must!”
The Deputy Clan Leader activated every remaining weapon system, focusing the entirety of the ship’s lethality directly at the approaching mecha.
