Shadows of the Deep Space Chapter 1613: 525: Adding Insult to Injury
Nightfall descended upon World’s Eye.
Shadler emerged from the private club alongside Su Ming, his cheeks red with flush.
“Brother, allow me to escort you home.”
“No thanks, you can barely stand on your own. Head back and rest soon.”
Su Ming offered a smile while addressing Shadler.
“Fine, Lum, you handle taking Brother.”
Shadler shook his head, giving the order to Lum.
“Yes, Your Highness.”
Lum answered with respect.
Su Ming settled into the passenger seat of the black hovercar, as Shadler rested against the window and spoke.
“Brother, once you arrive in the Federation, let’s meet up for a real get-together.”
“Of course!”
Su Ming responded smilingly.
Lum ignited the black hovercar’s engine and sped off into the distance.
Su Ming reclined against the window, gazing at the vibrant streets outside. The area remained bustling, filled with crowds, as if the war hadn’t touched it at all.
Now, the black hovercar soared above the Star Wall, where Su Ming spotted the well-known observatory far off, then turned to Lum and said.
“Mr. Lum, park the vehicle on the Star Wall.”
“Understood!”
Though Lum felt a touch of confusion, he obeyed Su Ming’s command and stopped the black hovercar atop the Star Wall.
Su Ming faced Lum and stated.
“Mr. Lum, just leave me here; you can return now.”
“Alright.”
Lum paused briefly before responding.
Su Ming pushed open the door and stepped out, wandering along the extended Star Wall toward the familiar observatory.
He rested against the Star Wall and took a seat, sensing the chilly breeze while staring at the expansive starry sky. Without realizing it, memories flooded back of strolling here with Lin Chuyu, leaving him feeling a bit adrift momentarily.
Time truly races by; in mere years, everything had transformed so drastically.

Bright Star Sea.
A Fourth Generation Mecha·Shadow Slayer along with two Green Wing Mechas, disguised for stealth, lurked behind a huge meteorite, now and then scanning the nearby starry expanse.
A fellow team member’s voice echoed in the shared comms channel.
“Captain Han Wei, how long must we keep monitoring from here?”
“Chen Xin, endure it a little more; the major withdrawal is nearly here, and then we head home.”
Han Wei answered with patience.
“Right, fingers crossed no mishaps occur in these final days.”
“Watch your words, don’t tempt fate.”
Team member Zhou Shu shot back right away.
“Quiet now, remain vigilant, and stick to procedures for verifying the area!”
Captain Han Wei commanded sternly.
“Radar scan shows clear!”
“Visual observation via optics is clear.”
“Comms signals are functioning!”
…
“All systems normal!”
Chen Xin informed Captain Han Wei.
Hearing that, Han Wei maneuvered the Shadow Slayer Mecha out from the cover of the giant meteorite, lifted his left arm toward the void of space, and powered up the hidden beam cannon.
“Captain, didn’t we confirm everything’s normal?”
Chen Xin questioned, bewildered.
“Caution never hurts.”
Han Wei proceeded to direct the Shadow Slayer in unleashing a beam toward the far-off stars.
The beam struck an unseen barrier, detonating with a thunderous blast!
“Hell, we’re under attack!”
Han Wei and his squad’s nerves spiked, prompting them to pilot their mechas in a hasty retreat.
In that instant, the remote starry void twisted and distorted, faintly disclosing a swarm of indistinct shapes.
Before long, mechanical octopuses surged out, wildly pursuing Han Wei and his comrades.
Han Wei and his team urgently broadcast to Cosmic Army Headquarters.
“Link established!”
…
“Triangular Tooth Scout Team reporting, we’ve spotted a Mechanical Clan force….”
Han Wei yelled desperately.
But silence greeted them from the comms line.
“Curses, jamming signals once more!”
Han Wei swore furiously.
“Captain, they’re closing in fast—get out of here!”
Chen Xin and his partner saw the mechanical octopuses drawing near and urged Han Wei.
The pair boldly reduced speed, veering off to the left and right separately.
At once, the mechanical octopuses split to hunt them down.
“Brothers, goodbye!”
Han Wei fought back his sorrow and pushed the Shadow Slayer to maximum thrust, becoming a silver streak bolting away, straining to create distance.
Swish! Swish!
Streams of energy blasts poured from the rear.
Han Wei strained to weave and avoid them.
A fearsome energy beam sliced across the cosmos, aimed straight at the Shadow Slayer.
Han Wei sensed impending doom, his resolve flaring intensely for a second.
“Light Speed Fold Flash!”
The Shadow Slayer disappeared entirely, just evading the strike.
Yet as Han Wei guided the mecha back into sight, a V-shaped General-level Mechanical Bionic Beast·Illusion Moth Beast—boasting a wingspan exceeding 500 meters and six sets of metallic wings—swooped in swiftly, lashing out with its enormous metal talons at the Shadow Slayer.
“We’re done for!”
Han Wei’s spirit plummeted, overwhelmed by despair.
Abruptly, a azure light streak arrived from the flank, slamming right into the V-shaped General-level Mechanical Bionic Beast·Illusion Moth Beast.
Thud!
The V-shaped General-level Mechanical Bionic Beast·Illusion Moth Beast got hurled away.
Han Wei froze in astonishment, then glanced aside. A Fake V Generation Mecha·Thunder God materialized before him, prompting a shocked outburst.
“General Simon!”
“Why linger? Hurry back and deliver the report—I’ll stall them!”
Simon instructed Han Wei gravely.
“Roger!”
Han Wei promptly drove the Shadow Slayer into a full-throttle getaway.

Deep into the night.
Su Ming rested on his bed, deep in slumber.
Buzz, buzz~
All of a sudden, the wristband began to hum.
Little Grey’s eyes snapped open instantly, while Celeste rose into the air, eyeing Su Ming’s wristband.
Right then, Su Ming bolted upright in bed, then checked the wristband, displaying a urgent alert message.
