Lin Li helped Amon obtain a Citizen Crest for his mission and used his identity to leave the city with a caravan. That night, multiple fires broke out across the city, and deformed spirit beasts attacked the Holy Temple members responding to the emergencies, causing widespread chaos and confusion.

Tian Yong opened the door. She saw a scene of carnage. Eight of her follower priests all lay on the floor. Small knives were embedded in their throats, right where their jugulars were. Their blood pooled under their lifeless bodies.

Tian Yong’s feet left the floor. She floated into the reception hall so the blood didn’t touch her shoes. She looked around but couldn’t find the culprit behind this carnage. All the priests were Emperor Stage cultivators. Taking them all out simultaneously meant the assailant must be at the Ancestor Stage.

She didn’t worry, for she was a Beginning Sovereign God Stage cultivator. What concerned her was the assailant’s ability to shroud their aura. Was there only one assailant? Or several? To hide from a Sovereign God’s sense was not a simple task.

As she sharpened her senses, she detected something peculiar. Something that shouldn’t have existed in the upper world, for their order had gone to great lengths to eliminate its existence. What she sensed were residuals of infernal energy and darkness elements.

Using the residuals, she traced them and found their source. Apparently, the source also noticed it had been found. This tiny, obscure aura exploded into a powerful burst of energy, and it descended on her from above.

*CLANG!*

Tian Yong looked up and saw a large humanoid creature covered in fiery dark smoke. Its right hand held a short blade that emitted a blinding light. The light caused her to wince. It made it difficult for her to see. Moreover, she felt the light disrupting her cultivation sense, too.

She heard another clanking sound and saw that the humanoid shadow possessed a long tail. That tail tried to sneak from her flank to steal a hit. Unfortunately for her assailant, a veil of water covered her. It was also this veil that blocked the first attack from the shining blade. Though it was made of water, the veil was as hard as metal. It produced a clanking sound every time it blocked an assault.

"I have prepared this defensive art because you can hide your aura," Tian Yong told the humanoid shadow. "It automatically protects without needing my command. Your concealment art is useless against me!"

The defensive veil changed roles. It made a slapping motion, striking the humanoid shadow. The strike was strong enough to send the shadow crashing into the wall.

"Mm... I can sense your cultivation clearly now. You are a Peak Mammoth Stage infernal cultivator... It is impossible that you trained to this level in this upper world. How did you enter our world unnoticed?"

An eerie chuckle came from the shadow creature, who was, of course, Amon. He didn’t respond to Tian Yong’s queries aside from the chuckle.

"I know you can speak," Tian Yong said. The defensive water veil swirled around her as if alive. "You are a cultivator because you exude infernal cultivation aura. However, it is intriguing that your power is way above the Peak Mammoth Stage you exuded. I can tell from the two strikes I’ve blocked. It is no wonder you can take out these priests. Even with an ambush, you still could not slay them so swiftly without sufficient strength. Nevertheless, your concealment art is indeed impressive. Where did you learn it?"

Amon could conceal his presence from Tian Yong and the priests he had ambushed thanks to two factors.

The first was his new concealment art. He created it using the Concealed Ghost Body as the template. In other words, it was an upgraded version of the old art. He named the art Concealed Spirit Body. It could perfectly mask the user’s presence against Demigod Realm cultivators, as he had proven when he ambushed the eight priests earlier.

When he fully focused the art’s power, he could still mask his presence from a Sovereign God Stage cultivator like Tian Yong, but not perfectly. Tian Yong still managed to locate him.

Amon could prevent her from immediately sensing him thanks to the second factor, which was his mental power. He had chosen to focus on Mental Blast. Hence, it could reach the second tier. He could still learn other mental powers at the first tier. He chose to learn mind control after the mind blast, allowing him to use first-tier hallucination.

His hallucination power was very weak compared to Lin Li or proper mind practitioners like Nao Dou. His target would immediately notice the hallucination was fake if he did it. However, he didn’t learn this power to cause others to hallucinate. Instead, it was to help with his concealment.

Like the disguise talisman Amon used, Lin Li’s disguise placed an illusion directly on herself instead of projecting it into others’ minds. Hence, the engravings in the Citizen Center couldn’t block it. It was the same case here. This City Shrine also had the same engravings, but they were useless against Amon’s illusion because he didn’t project it outward.

Amon used his hallucination power to mask the aura coming out of him, similar to how Lin Li masked her aura to match the person she was impersonating. The difference was that Amon masked his aura to nearly non-existent instead of trying to copy another’s aura.

Combining this hallucination power with his new concealment art, he could fool even a Sovereign God Stage cultivator like Tian Yong.

Amon remained silent. Tian Yong was vexed that Amon ignored all her questions. She lost her patience and demanded in a commanding tone, "Who are you, demon? What is your intention here? Tell me everything! And perhaps, I will leave your body intact."

Amon chuckled again. This time, he answered, "Hehe. I am Demon Savior. Liberator to the oppressed people of the upper world, and I am here to assassinate you."

"Savior? Liberator? Oppressed? Assassinate...? How absurd! I should have known better than to converse with a demon. Forget it! I am no longer interested in you or your motivation. All that I need to know is that a demon like you has no right to exist, just as the Divine decreed. I will destroy you! For the Divine...!!"

She swung the crucifix hammer in her hands. The swing conjured a tidal wave. Water spread out everywhere. There was nowhere Amon could dodge. The waves hit the entire hall. Water splashed everywhere. The walls and floor cracked under the pressure. If not for its strong engravings, the entire building would have collapsed.

Tian Yong was confident her attack could easily kill a Mammoth Stage cultivator. But Amon had proven himself to be an unconventional Mammoth Stage cultivator, so she prepared another attack. She lifted her hammer. She was about to perform a second swing when a soul-shaking roar assailed her. At the same instant, she sensed an incredibly powerful aura.

She heard a big splash, and something colossal emerged from the water filling the hall.

"A no–noble dragon...?" She stammered. The spirit beast incursion into this city was one thing, but a noble dragon? How could something so large and powerful enter without being noticed? Not to mention entering this building without causing a ruckus. A noble dragon was not known for its sneakiness.

She didn’t have time to ponder the situation. Her body reacted on instinct. She was about to execute an art that hit a large area like the previous tidal wave, but she changed it mid-swing. The water elements her swing conjured now gathered at the tip of his hammer, forming a large water bubble. This water bubble crashed into the dragon, stopping its advance.

She didn’t plan on staying. A noble dragon was a Mid Deity beast. It was not a spirit beast she could deal with. After stopping the dragon’s lunge, she turned and flew toward the exit.

Unfortunately, she didn’t get far. Multiple red spears shot out of the water below. Her defensive water veil whirled under her, forming a defensive wall. The water veil blocked a few spears but not all. Eventually, the veil broke. She swung her hammer and shattered the remaining red spears.

Surprisingly, the broken spears didn’t act like solid objects. They were akin to liquid. This red liquid shot at her, snaring different parts of her body.

"Blo–Blood...?" Now that the red liquid touched her, she could identify it.

The water filling the hall vanished. It was not real water. It was created using an arcane art. It disappeared after a period. Without the water, she saw that the blood ensnaring her came from the pools under the eight dead priests.

More blood spears shot out from that pool. Being ensnared, she couldn’t dodge or block. The blood spears pierced into her.

"Aahhh...!!" She screamed from the pain.

She endured the pain. Her protective aura prevented the red spears from piercing too deep. She exerted strength to break free, but the sight before her robbed her of hope. Before her, the noble dragon opened her gigantic jaws. A blood-red energy beam shot out of the dragon’s mouth. This beam engulfed her entire body.
