Rise of The Demon General Chapter 878. The True Hyanids Arrive

The Cryanid King was slightly bigger than the Cryanid Queen, who was already colossal. Amon estimated it to be the size of a jumbo jet from his previous world. The giant scythes of its forelimbs were mantis-like, while the three horns on its armored head made it resemble the Triceratops. The carapace covering most of its body was metallic black. The fur of its moth wings was mostly black with lines of yellow in it. The four moth wings beat only slightly as the massive creature glided through the air.

Amon’s Eagle Eye let him identify the hyanids on the Cryanid King’s back. There were five of them: The Supreme Leader Krassazh Kahn, Sirrixx Kahn, Ublaith Kahn, Arrasixx, and another Hyanid that he hadn’t seen before.

The gargantuan size of the Cryanid King, added by the mostly absent cloud in the lower world’s sky, made it easy for everyone to notice its approach. Among them was Hai Lao, who was battling the enemy horde with his army. He watched the incoming Cryanid King with wide eyes.

"What is that?" The man fighting beside Hai Lao asked. He was another of Hai Di’s children. His name was Hai Bang. He was also a Beginning Overlord Stage cultivator like Hai Lao, but he was considered weaker because he didn’t possess a cultivation law.

"That is a Cryanid King," a woman next to them answered. She was also Hai Di’s offspring. She was at the Peak Mammoth Stage, and her name was Hai Ying.

"That means it is the enemy’s reinforcement," Hai Bang said. "It is heading directly toward where Father is."

"A Cryanid King is a Higher Primordial Beast," Hai Lao uttered. "Despite its size, a spirit beast of that level is not Father’s match. I am more worried about the creatures atop the beast."

"What creatures?" Hai Bang asked.

"They are the human-Cryanid hybrids like the ones we fight here," Hai Ying replied. She and Hai Lao had an eye art that allowed them to spot Krassazh and the others.

"No, they are unlike the ones we fought here," Hai Lao said. "The ones here are like wild animals. Those riding the Cryanid King appear calm and in control. That’s why I said I’m worried. Even though I can’t sense their power from here, I am sure they are not to be underestimated. They might be the true culprits who control this Cryanid swarm."

"If that is the case, we can’t let Father fight them alone. We must go help him!"

Hai Lao agreed. He signaled the order for the army to move toward Hai Di, but that was easier said than done. Swarms of Cryanids and Hyanids surrounded them. Moving in any direction was a tall ask. Hence, Hai Lao and the stronger cultivators had no choice but to leave the army and fight their way toward Hai Di.

Hai Di also noticed the approaching Cryanid King. Like Hai Lao, he was more concerned about the beings riding the beast than the beast itself. Despite his concern, he didn’t fear them. He swung his arm, which released a wave of black fog, destroying two Cryanid wasps and countless Cryanid Flies around him. He then flew toward the incoming Cryanid King.

The Cryanids chased Hai Di but stopped after arriving near the Cryanid King. They hovered nearby but didn’t advance. This convinced Hai Di that the beings atop the Cryanid King controlled the swarm attacking his capital. If he could defeat those beings, the swarm might disperse.

The Cryanid King also stopped when Hai Di approached. The two sides floated in the air, staring at each other.

Hai Di could see intelligence from the compound eyes of the Hyanids atop the Cryanid King. He knew they could communicate. He asked, "Are you the ones directing this Cryanid swarm and making them invade my territory?"

Krassazh, who stood in front of the others, responded, "We are, though we will not take the credit for making this assault possible. You have one of your kind to thank."

Hai Di didn’t understand what his opponent meant, but it didn’t matter. Now that he had confirmed they were the ones controlling the swarm, all he needed to do was get rid of them.

"In that case, die...!!!" Hai Di exclaimed. He released his domain art. The nearby Cryanids that were caught by his domain were crushed or eroded to death.

Hai Di’s domain continued to expand. When it was about to reach the Cryanid King, a domain sphere radiated from Krassazh. His domain sphere was grey. The grey and black spheres intersected without affecting each other. Only after the two spheres reached their full sizes did they react to one another and vie for dominance.

Thanks to Krassazh’s domain, the Cryanid King and the other Hyanids riding it weren’t affected by Hai Di’s domain. However, that didn’t last for long.

"A domain with the gravity element?" Hai Di remarked after sensing the domain art that opposed his. "I’m surprised a hybrid like you knows how to perform a domain art."

Krassazh responded, "We are not hybrids. We are the Hyanids."

"I don’t care what you are called, because you will go extinct soon. No one can win against me when it comes to domain arts!"

The black sphere began to press on the grey sphere. Krassazh felt the pressure. It was overwhelming. Normally, a domain art with gravity elements was heavier than other elements, but Krassazh sensed that the black domain was gradually crushing his. He was losing the domain battle.

"Perhaps we have shown our hands too early. He has not tired enough," Ublaith said. He could also sense that the black domain was slowly gaining dominance.

"If one domain is not enough, then let’s try two!" Sirrixx exclaimed.

A light blue domain radiated from her. Her domain blended with Krassazh. With the two domains supporting one another, they resisted Hai Di’s black domain. However, even with the two cooperating, Hai Di’s black domain still encroached over them, albeit more slowly.

"Let’s go with three!" exclaimed the Hyanid, whom Amon didn’t recognize. He was among the oldest Hyanid and a long-time follower of Krassazh. His name was Crazukth, and his cultivation was at the Peak Overlord Stage. Though he hadn’t entered the Unholy Monarch Stage, his long age and experience allowed him to obtain a domain art.

His domain art was purple. It fused with Krassazh and Sirrixx’s, enhancing their domain power. Only then did Hai Di’s domain lose its influence.

With the pressure lifted, the Cryanid King took action. It opened its mouth and a sticky substance shot out. The substance hit Hai Di, who was caught off guard, because he didn’t expect this many Hyanids to possess domain arts.

Once the substance took hold, it pulled Hai Di toward the Cryanid King’s titanic mouth. The mouth filled with sharp teeth was ready to chomp on the captured prey.

"Want to eat me? Keep dreaming!" Hai Di exclaimed. A dark sphere encapsulated him. It was his shadow armor, pressurized to incredible denseness. When the Cryanid King bit down and struck the shadow orb, it was like biting into an indestructible rock. It roared in pain as several of its teeth broke off.

"Bugger off, you insect!!" Hai Di executed the Demon Palm. The black palm slapped into the side of the Cryanid King. It flung away from the strike.

Krassazh, Sirrixx, and Crazukth already jumped from the Cryanid King’s back before it was hit. They dove at high speed and delivered a kick simultaneously. The triple kicks struck Hai Di’s shadow armor and shattered it. Hai Di was sent hurtling down.

The nearby flying Cryanids immediately swarmed over Hai Di. They formed a giant ball of squeezed insects.

Krassazh, who wanted to deliver a follow-up attack, stopped because several black arrows were heading toward them. He and Sirrixx used defensive arts and blocked the black arrows, while Crazukth dodged them. The dodged arrows performed a U-turn and came at him again.

"Those arrows are infused with a cultivation law," Krassazh informed. He pointed at those arrows. A gravity field appeared, pulled the arrows in, and crushed them.

They turned and saw several humans advance toward them while fighting the Cryanids in their way.

"Father, I will deal with them. You focus on the human leader," Ublaith uttered. He and Arrasixx remained atop the Cryanid King. Under Ublaith’s order, it flew toward the group of humans.

*BOOM...!!!*

The giant ball of Cryanids exploded. The devastated pieces of Cryanids fell to the ground. Hai Di was visible again. He suffered no damage, but his regal robe was full of tears. He had stopped using the domain art. His face seemed calm, but his eyes staring at the three opponents above him were filled with rage.

"Insects, I will make you regret that you ever challenged humans," Hai Di stated.

He slapped his palm at them. A giant demon palm rushed out. The three chose to dodge the palm rather than face it. After dodging the palm, Sirrixx and Crazukth suddenly found themselves unable to move as dark cocoons clamped down on their bodies. As for Krassazh, he found himself face-to-face with Hai Di.

"You are the leader, aren’t you? Then you are my prey!" Hai Di announced.
