Rise of The Demon General Chapter 858. Giving Up on the Castle
Previously on Rise of The Demon General...
Mo Wang knew he couldn’t win against Thien Huo, not unless he went all out. Doing that would be risky, especially after Thien Huo used dragon awakening. His priority was to return to his castle.
He had a talisman that could teleport him back to a marked spot inside his castle, but using this talisman required preparation time, time which Thien Huo surely wouldn’t give. Fortunately, he had another talisman that distorted the space around them, making the distance between him and Thien Huo much greater than it originally was.
The former talisman was easy to make and required fewer materials. He had produced quite a lot of it over time and even provided plenty for the three factions. The latter talisman was much less abundant. It was difficult to make and consumed many rare materials. He only had a handful. Hence, he only used it when necessary.
He used it after Thien Huo revealed his Dragon Awakening, and boxed him in using multiple firewalls. When Thien Huo charged toward him, the dragon was shocked to find their distance didn’t seem to diminish. Meanwhile, he activated another talisman.
Thien Huo fired his flame breath. The fire beam appeared to be moving in slow motion. By the time it almost reached Mo Wang, circular rings filled with words of power materialized and revolved around him. He soon vanished.
Thien Huo expressed his frustration with a sky-splitting roar.
Mo Wang reappeared inside a chamber in his castle. This was one of the marked spots linked to his long-range teleportation talismans. He didn’t waste time. He immediately rushed toward the underground chamber where Di Yu was detained. Sadly, the chamber was located far away from that chamber, so he still needed some time, even when he could teleport through the walls and floors of the castle.
He heard Thien Huo’s roar outside. He did not doubt the dragon would come search his castle. If not for him, then for Di Yu. He had no time to waste.
Trying as quickly as he could, he was still too late. He heard the dreaded sounds of the chain snapping as he neared the underground chamber. When he arrived, he witnessed the last chain being broken.
"No...! What have you fools done!!" He exclaimed.
His shout was soon drowned by a roar. The roar came from Di Yu, who rose to her full height. With the chains losing their enchantment, they were no longer sufficient to hold her. She stretched her body, breaking the giant chains that wrapped around her.
The smaller chains that wrapped her limbs didn’t break, but it was the giant chains that kept them fastened. With the giant chains gone, they became loose. Di Yu shook her body, and the small chains fell to the ground.
"Accursed demon, I will have my revenge!!" Di Yu exclaimed. She uttered a second roar followed by a blast of black breath from her mouth.
There was no bubble to block her breath this time. Her black beam rushed unhindered towards Mo Wang.
"Tch!" Mo Wang uttered. He vanished just as the beam arrived. The beam crashed into the wall. The wall dissolved upon contact. Even with the words of power enhancing their durability, they were still unable to endure the breath attack from a noble dragon.
Mo Wang reappeared somewhere else in the chamber. "You fools have gone and done it. You have doomed this lower world!"
"To hell with your lower world! I will raze it with you in it!!" Di Yu exclaimed. She charged forward.
"I will help you, mother!" Di Ying exclaimed as she advanced.
Amon had rushed to Surressh when Mo Wang entered this underground chamber. He grabbed the Hyanid and sent him into his black space ring. Amon mentally explained to him inside the ring, so he didn’t will himself back out. Amon wished he had acted fast enough. Mo Wang’s attention should be on Di Yu the whole time. He hoped Mo Wang hadn’t noticed the Hyanid.
Another roar was heard. This time from outside. The castle shook following that roar.
Mo Wang knew the other roar came from Thien Huo, who no doubt was breaking into his castle. He looked at the colossal black dragon that was coming at him, accompanied by a smaller one. He had no intention of going up against three noble dragons.
"Aw... Damn it all to hell," he uttered.
He took out another of his precious Void Warp Talismans and activated it. The space warp prevented Di Yu and Di Ying from reaching him. He then used another long-range teleportation talisman. His teleporting target this time was a marked spot away from his castle, somewhere inside the Devotion Domain. He had decided to abandon this castle.
Before he vanished, his glance went first to Amon. He did not doubt that everything that happened here was this man’s doing.
He said, "Not bad, General. I will see you again next time." He didn’t yell, but Amon heard his words clearly.
Di Yu roared furiously when Mo Wang disappeared. She stomped and slammed like a mad dragon at everything near Mo Wang’s last position. In her unbridled rage, she barrelled out of the chamber and flew up. Though she could no longer sense Mo Wang nearby, she still intended to scour this entire castle looking for him. Di Ying continued to follow her mother.
With Mo Wang and the dragons gone, Amon instructed his minions to enter his black space ring. He then stored the prison box, with its portal still open. He told Zee Whang and the others to enter the portal from inside the black space ring.
He also left the underground chamber afterward, but he stayed away from the rampaging dragons. The five battle puppets he released earlier had completed their tasks. He instructed them to gather outside the castle, away from the risk of getting caught up in the dragons’ rampage.
When he met up with these five puppets, the rocks in their hands were no longer translucent. Each rock emitted a different color and aura. The task he had given to these five puppets was to head to the five spires of Mo Wang’s castle, each containing the ley nodes of the five infernal elements.
The translucent rocks were the cut pieces of the elemental crystal Amon had taken from Di Yu’s treasure vault. He cut the giant chunk into eleven pieces. Five were used here to absorb the infernal elemental energies from Mo Wang’s castle’s ley nodes. The remaining six were meant for later, when he found the ley nodes containing the divine elements.
He stored these filled elemental crystals in his black space ring. Even a tiny elemental crystal could store a large amount of energy. The large pieces he had were enough for him to cultivate using the Infernal Divine Absorbing Art for decades, maybe even centuries, except for the darkness element.
His Law of Darkness allowed him to absorb the darkness elements rapidly. Filling all five crystals with darkness elements would have been the most efficient choice for his cultivation speed. Yet, he chose to fill the crystals with different elemental energies. This was because his purpose was not only for his cultivation. It was to enrich the environment inside his black space ring.
He had fused all the water from the Spring of Life into the lake inside the ring. The Spring of Life provided abundant aether for the world inside. By placing the five crystals inside, which acted as ley nodes, he could further enrich the world, especially if he used five different elements.
When he also obtained the six divine elements, the complete set would elevate the world inside his black space ring to perfection. This was a feat that had never been done before. Even with the ley nodes of only the five infernal elements, the aether around Mo Wang’s castle had been the best in the entire lower world. He believed that adding the six divine elements would make the result even more spectacular. The aether he could draw from his ring would be the best for cultivation, even without the special perks from his cultivation art. He would no longer need to find the best spot to cultivate, because he already had the best spot with him all the time.
He observed the six empty, translucent elemental crystals inside his black space ring. Too bad that after one infused the crystal with a certain element, it could no longer absorb a different element. Otherwise, he would have filled these empty crystals with the darkness elements and changed them later when he found the divine elements.
After finishing setting up the five infernal elemental crystals inside the world of his black space ring, Amon returned his attention outside. He saw that Di Yu was still wreaking havoc. Thien Huo had stopped. Thien Huo expressed joy when he saw Di Yu and Di Ying. Di Ying came to greet her uncle, but Di Yu was too lost in her fury. She didn’t seem to register Thien Huo’s presence.
Amon didn’t risk approaching them. He moved away from there while they were still occupied. Only when he was a safe distance away did he send a mental message to Di Ying.
