Rise of The Demon General Chapter 812. A Contest Between Tamed Beasts
Previously on Rise of The Demon General...
"You are indeed correct. Very well, I acknowledge you are not delusionally arrogant. I shall grant you a more favorable opportunity, lest others accuse me of bullying. You will face my mount, this Grave Owlbat. Since you are a cultivator at the Mammoth Stage, it is a fitting adversary for you. Let us see if you can endure for ten minutes against it."
Amon observed the Grave Owlbat. He had encountered information regarding this spirit beast. It was categorized as a Mid Primordial Beast. Although the strength of a Mid Primordial Beast theoretically matched that of a Mammoth Stage cultivator, the Grave Owlbat was renowned as a formidable specimen among its kind. In contrast, Amon had only recently ascended to the Mammoth Stage. Therefore, based on their classifications, he was not the Grave Owlbat's equal.
Amon responded, "Mm... I mean no disrespect, Your Honor, but I fear there might be an unfortunate incident if I were to accidentally slay your cherished pet. How about this? My Sun Ray Hawk will engage the Grave Owlbat. Let this be a contest between our respective tamed beasts."
Diu Cay's frown deepened, twisting into a more unpleasant expression. He had presumed Amon understood his position after the prior threat, but Amon's recent words indicated no such submission. He could discern that the aura emanating from the hawk Amon commanded was merely that of a Higher Mythical Beast. How dared Amon suggest it was an equitable opponent for his own tamed beast?
"You have sealed your own fate, and that of your tamed beast. My Grave Owlbat will rend both you and that mutated creature of yours."
At Diu Cay's command, the Grave Owlbat he rode let out a piercing screech. It detached itself from Diu Cay's side and soared towards Amon. Amon, meanwhile, accelerated away, leaving the Sun Ray Hawk behind. This action clearly demonstrated Amon's resolve to let his tamed beast handle the confrontation.
"Hmph! Tear apart that feeble hawk and chastise its master!" Diu Cay ordered his tamed beast.
The Grave Owlbat echoed his screech, its irritation amplified by their telepathic link. It harbored no intention of prolonging the encounter with the Sun Ray Hawk. Its two formidable, razor-sharp talons extended towards the hawk as its speed dramatically increased.
The Sun Ray Hawk expelled a fireball infused with crackling lightning. The Grave Owlbat dismissed the projectile as a trivial threat. Its white plumage shimmered with an ethereal luminescence. It allowed the fireball to strike, and though it detonated, the beast emerged unscathed. The impact did not even impede its momentum.
The Sun Ray Hawk transformed into a streak of lightning, evading the descending talons just before contact.
"Hm..." Diu Cay's eyebrows lifted slightly. Genuine surprise registered on his face. Despite it being a temporary enhancement, he had not anticipated a Higher Mythical Beast exhibiting such velocity.
The Grave Owlbat shared its master's astonishment. It felt a distinct sense of humiliation at failing to vanquish a Higher Mythical Beast with a single, decisive strike. It unfurled its wings, generating a gust of wind that created a vortex where it had been. It vanished from view, reappearing instantaneously near the Sun Ray Hawk. Despite the sudden spatial shift, the Sun Ray Hawk once again evaded the attack by dissolving into a bolt of lightning.
This maneuver was repeated numerous times. Explosions of wind erupted across the landscape as the Sun Ray Hawk consistently evaded by moving with the speed of lightning.
Although its companion could only evade, Diu Cay grew increasingly displeased with his pet's inability to swiftly neutralize the Sun Ray Hawk. "Hmph, I concede that your tamed beast is surprisingly agile. However, how long do you imagine a Higher Mythical Beast can sustain the immense energy expenditure required for such rapid movements?"
"Hopefully, ten minutes," Amon replied straightforwardly.
"Tch!" Diu Cay let out an exasperated sound. If Amon's prediction held true, he would suffer a significant loss of face. Failing to inflict even a minor injury on Amon was already highly undesirable. Should the Grave Owlbat also fail to wound a considerably weaker opponent, it would represent a profound humiliation. To exacerbate matters, Yao Ai and their forces were rapidly approaching. He needed to conclude this pretense before their arrival. He transmitted a mental directive to his tamed beast.
In response, the Grave Owlbat emitted a piercing shriek. This cry was far from ordinary; it was imbued with potent energy. Even Amon, positioned at a considerable distance, felt his internal organs vibrate from the sheer force of the sound.
The Sun Ray Hawk, being weaker and closer, suffered a far more devastating consequence. Its swift movements ceased abruptly. The internal damage inflicted by the sonic blast caused it to vomit blood. The instant it became immobilized, the Grave Owlbat descended upon it, its two powerful talons crushing the hawk's wings, shattering the bones within into countless fragments.
The Grave Owlbat seized the Sun Ray Hawk and dragged it down. With a resounding impact, it slammed the injured creature onto the ground. As the settling dust cleared, the onlookers witnessed the Grave Owlbat standing triumphantly, its formidable claws planted firmly upon the Sun Ray Hawk, which lay defeated and motionless on the earth below.
