Rise of The Demon General Chapter 780. Alteration Request
Xou Liang assisted in restraining the Primeval Scortaur before he voiced his inquiry to Amon. "Why are we capturing this spirit beast? Wasn't our mission to seek out those humanoid Cryanids?"
"We shall accomplish that. Encountering this beast is an unexpected boon. I cannot let it go to waste."
"An unexpected boon...?" Xou Liang's gaze shifted to Xin Wa’s lifeless form. A sane individual would hardly deem this fortunate.
The sight of Xin Wa brought to mind their other surviving companion. "Zhan An! He fled in that direction!" Xou Liang exclaimed.
"He is gone. If you wish to pursue him, I shall not impede you, but I will consider you lost as well," Amon replied.
Xou Liang stared at Amon, stunned. How could this man be so devoid of compassion? Upon closer inspection, he realized this was likely Amon's true character. He had been deceived by Amon's heroic facade, which stemmed from his role in saving Defunct Edge City.
It required ten runic chains to bind the Primeval Scortaur. The creature thrashed, attempting to break free. Had it been at its full strength, even this many chains would have been insufficient. Amon withdrew the small blades embedded in the Scortaur's unprotected hide, reapplied the Endless Slumber Poison, and plunged them back into the exposed flesh.
The Primeval Scortaur convulsed in rage from the renewed assault, but its struggles soon abated. The additional application of the potent poison worked marvelously on the weakened beast. The Titan Battle Puppet finally released its grip on the tail, which had been secured to the Scortaur’s flank with runic chains.
"What are we going to do with it?" Xou Liang inquired.
"You will do nothing. Maintain your vigil here with this battle puppet," Amon instructed.
Amon retrieved a metal container from his black spatial ring. Placing it on the ground, the container opened, revealing a portal shimmering above it.
The Titan Battle Puppet assumed a guarding stance beside the portal. Amon summoned several more battle puppets, positioning them strategically around the cave to aid in sentry duty.
Xou Liang inwardly seethed. Amon possessed an abundance of battle puppets. Why had he not utilized them when they entered the misty border? Such automatons could have served as scouts, averting numerous preventable casualties on their side.
Xou Liang remained unaware that, in Amon's estimation, the loss of his battle puppets represented a far graver misfortune. Xou Liang's team, in Amon's eyes, were merely expendable pawns, serving more effectively as scouts and decoys than his precious battle puppets.
Amon lifted the immobilized Primeval Scortaur. Turning to Xou Liang, he issued a stern warning, "Do not enter," before vanishing through the portal.
'Tch!' Xou Liang profoundly regretted his decision to assist Amon on this mission. The man was nothing like his initial perception. He doubted Amon's motives for undertaking this quest were as noble as aiding the citizens of the Mercy Faction. Nevertheless, retreating was no longer an option; he was too deeply entrenched in uncharted territory.
He settled into a cross-legged position and consumed a recovery pill. His gaze swept the surroundings. Apart from the damaged colossal puppet, all the other puppets appeared to be of inferior quality. He doubted their efficacy against a spirit beast attack in this region. Still, they served as valuable early warning systems. With this in mind, he employed a recovery art to accelerate his recuperation.

The artifact that generated the portal was Yuka’s former confinement device. The pocket dimension contained within this artifact was comprised of numerous chambers. Amon entered the chamber that had previously held Yuka captive. The incantations within that space were meticulously crafted to subjugate a formidable entity.
Amon placed the bound Primeval Scortaur within the confinement formation. He then proceeded to the control console and activated it. A beam of light emanated from the formation's core, piercing the Primeval Scortaur. The already weakened spirit beast suffered further debilitation.
Amon administered another dose of the Endless Slumber Poison, ensuring its efficacy, before departing the chamber. He moved to an adjacent room. This secondary chamber was densely populated with peculiar apparatus. Numerous mutated insects swarmed the area. Dao Su was present within this room, engaged in experimentation upon a live human secured to an operating table.
Dao Su was so engrossed in his work that he only registered Amon's presence when he stood beside him.
"How do you find this environment?" Amon inquired.
"Preferable to the previous location you confined us. I must inquire, however, how an individual such as yourself possesses two artifacts with substantial yet stable dimensions?"
"That is none of your concern," Amon retorted. Amon had relocated Dao Su here after his request for live subjects. Live captives could not be held against their will within the black spatial ring, but this containment artifact allowed for it. Upon learning of this, Zee Whang also requested relocation. He occupied another chamber nearby.
"Your visits are infrequent unless you require something," Dao Su observed. "Speak your mind. What is it you desire?"
"I seek a physical alteration," Amon stated.
"Ho... I had always anticipated this request. Very well. Which part do you wish to be altered, and do you have a specific alteration in mind? Or shall I make the selection for you?"
Instead of answering, Amon gestured for Dao Su to accompany him. Dao Su complied, his curiosity piqued. Upon entering the main prison chamber, his interest intensified dramatically.
"Hoho! A lower primordial beast! How utterly fascinating!" Dao Su exclaimed, his eyes widening as he realized the Primeval Scortaur was still alive.
"I recall you mentioning that utilizing a part from a living subject enhances the probability of success," Amon remarked, observing Dao Su's reaction.
"Indeed, it does. This is simply marvelous! This undertaking promises to be quite exciting... However, are you absolutely certain it remains fully restrained?"
"It is. The restraining enchantment within this chamber is of the highest caliber. Should you require additional reassurance, accept these." Amon presented Dao Su with several vials of liquid. "This is the very poison I employed to render the Great Sun Hawk unconscious. Administer it at regular intervals to maintain the beast's sedation."
Dao Su nodded in acknowledgment and accepted the vials.
"Is there anything further you require?" Amon inquired.
"Would it be possible for you to remain present throughout the entire procedure?" Dao Su asked in return.
"No."
"Very well, I shall require a significant quantity of your blood, along with some flesh, for preliminary analysis. Nonetheless, when the moment arrives for the assimilation process itself, you will need to dedicate several hours, perhaps half a day."
"Understood. Proceed with it then."
Dao Su escorted Amon back to his personal workshop. Employing his specialized equipment, he meticulously collected Amon's blood and excised a substantial portion of flesh from Amon's thigh. Amon experienced a wave of dizziness owing to the blood loss. He consumed a recovery and regrowth pill following the procedure.
"I will likely need you to visit for further testing as required. This may involve obtaining more blood and flesh samples. How may I contact you?"
Unlike the situation when Dao Su resided within the black space ring, he could not summon Amon at will from his current location.
Amon summoned a battle puppet and instructed it to remain with Dao Su. "Inform this puppet should you require my presence. If circumstances permit, I shall come."
Dao Su signified his comprehension with a nod. He then proceeded with a few preliminary examinations on Amon's physique, in addition to requesting specific details regarding the desired alteration from Amon. Once Dao Su had acquired all necessary information, Amon departed the chamber.
He did not, however, immediately exit the dimension. His next destination was Zee Whang's workshop.
In contrast to Dao Su's earlier encounter, Zee Whang detected Amon's arrival the very instant he entered. This was due to a worker puppet stationed at the entrance that alerted Zee Whang to Amon's presence.
"What is it you seek?" Zee Whang inquired brusquely.
Amon observed Zee Whang's current activity. "Are you constructing another Supreme Puppet?" Amon inquired.
Amon could clearly discern the skeletal framework of a colossal object, bearing a distinct resemblance to a humanoid form.
"What concern is it of yours? Do you harbor any objections?"
"None. Undertake whatever you deem necessary. However, do not neglect your obligation to remit the agreed-upon rent by providing me with high-quality battle puppets."
"Grant me additional resources, then. With the current scarcity, I can only construct a limited number."
Amon let out a chuckle. "Are you certain the limitation isn't due to a significant portion of the resources being diverted to your personal clandestine project?"
"I consider it fair compensation for my services."
"Well, you ought to ensure the value of the compensation you've taken is matched by equally valuable service. Otherwise, you will find an aggrieved customer in me. Speaking of which, I require you to expedite a particular service."
"What service?" Zee Whang asked, but before he could finish, Amon gestured for him to pause.
Outside, the Titan Battle Puppet retrieved its severed arm and re-entered the portal. Xou Liang expressed surprise at this sight. He wondered what had transpired within the portal. He moved to approach it, but a battle puppet materialized and obstructed his path. He possessed the capability to easily overcome this automaton, yet he chose not to. Such an action would inevitably lead to a confrontation with Amon. Within this ethereal border, he could not afford such a conflict at this juncture.
The Titan Battle Puppet proceeded into Zee Whang's workshop.
"Bloody hell! Didn't I provide you with this puppet not too long ago?" Zee Whang exclaimed in frustration. "Can you not show the slightest appreciation for others' creations?"
"A battle puppet's fundamental purpose is combat. It is precisely because I appreciate it that I subjected it to a formidable opponent."
"Tch! Whatever. Leave it here. I shall repair it... No, I shall enhance it to an even greater degree!" Zee Whang declared with conviction.
Amon grinned. "I shall hold you to your word on that."
