Reincarnation Of The Strongest Sword God Chapter 4 - The Sensation Caused By Death

Shi Feng navigated the bustling streets of Red Leaf Town, observing the fierce competition among players for Quests. Unlike others, he leveraged his past experience to pursue a Unique Quest, despite lacking the necessary funds to complete it. After sharing advice and selling valuable knowledge to a struggling Warrior named Lonely Snow, Shi Feng made a bold move by throwing tomatoes at the town's Mayor, Cross, declaring his disdain for the NPC's authority. This reckless act led to a sudden shift in Cross's favorability, transforming the Mayor's demeanor into outright hostility as he charged at Shi Feng.

Chapter 4 - The Sensation Caused By Death

The Town Hall shook from the force of Town Mayor Cross’ enraged bellow.

In a blur of motion, Cross closed the distance to Shi Feng, his fist hurtling toward him with lethal intent.

Nearby players were busy enjoying Shi Feng’s apparent misfortune, using the moment to estimate the Town Mayor’s combat prowess.

As a Level 15 Elite, Cross possessed the power to kill any current player with a single blow. To them, Shi Feng was a fool for provoking the mayor. There was no one in Red Leaf Town who could protect him now; he faced either a lifetime in prison or permanent exile.

Yet, the players were baffled by Shi Feng’s unshakable composure. Was he simply resigned to his fate?

Just as Cross’ strike was about to connect, the previously motionless Shi Feng reacted. Like a predator lying in wait, he drew his Novice Sword with lightning speed, positioning the blade to intercept the attack.

Peng!

The impact of Cross’ fist against the Novice Sword sent Shi Feng tumbling backward. Before hitting the ground, he executed a mid-air flip, landing as gracefully as a cat. Despite his successful block, his HP plummeted by 84 points, and his hands shook from the vibration of the strike. The Novice Sword’s durability had dropped by 1; if it reached 0, the weapon would be destroyed.

Si......

A collective gasp filled the room.

Initially, the onlookers had dismissed Shi Feng as a reckless amateur. However, this display proved he was a highly skilled individual. Even though Cross was a mage with lower physical stats, his Level 15 Elite status meant he should have one-shotted any player. Shi Feng had survived by perfectly mitigating the damage through a weapon block.

“His speed and power are incredible for a mage,” Shi Feng thought, glancing at his vibrating sword. He was lucky he had invested all his points into Agility to reach an Attack Speed of 4. Without that, he would be dead, and his Quest would have failed.

“Die, insect!”

The failed attack only deepened Cross’ fury. Suddenly, his clothing shredded as black fur erupted from his skin. Within seconds, the mayor had transformed into a snarling Werewolf with lethal fangs.

The witnesses were paralyzed with shock. No one had suspected that the town’s leader was actually a monstrous Werewolf.

Cross vanished and reappeared behind Shi Feng, swinging his gleaming claws toward the young man's heart.

Despite having only 16 HP left, a cold smirk played on Shi Feng’s lips.

The deadly claws froze just inches from Shi Feng’s chest. A Level 25 Guard had intercepted the beast with [Charge], leaving Cross stunned for 1 second.

Shi Feng seized the opening to retreat to safety.

The moment Cross recovered and prepared to lunge again, another Guard blocked his path.

These two Guards were Level 25 Warriors. They weren't Elites, but their offensive power was formidable. A combination of Charge and basic attacks shaved 300 HP off the mayor instantly. Between the two of them, 600 HP vanished, leaving Cross with only 1700 HP.

“The Guards certainly live up to their reputation for high damage,” Shi Feng remarked with a chuckle, watching the mayor struggle.

The Guards were the town's primary defense, sworn to protect civilians and repel evil. Now that the mayor had revealed his Werewolf form, he was no longer human but an agent of darkness. The Guards targeted him immediately, treating him like any other wild monster.

On the surface, Sherlock’s task seemed suicidal. However, the secret was that a player only had to initiate the fight and survive the first hit. Once the mayor’s true identity was exposed, the Guards would take over the heavy lifting.

In Shi Feng’s past life, this Unique Quest became legendary in White River City because it revealed that the Town Mayor was a traitor. It taught players a hard lesson about God’s Domain: NPCs weren't always what they seemed, and some were enemies in disguise.

The original player who completed this Quest had become famous for his clever baiting strategy. After working so hard to solve it, that player had shared his methods with the world to show off. Now, Shi Feng was putting that stolen knowledge to perfect use.

Cross was now pinned down by the two Guards. Even as his health drained, he remained obsessed with killing Shi Feng. He tried to break away, but the Guards were relentless. One applied [Bone Crusher] while the other landed a [Thundering Strike], crippling the Werewolf’s mobility. With 5 points in Movement Speed, Shi Feng easily stayed out of reach.

Slowly but surely, Cross’ 2000 HP was whittled down to almost nothing.

As the mayor neared death, the surrounding players became greedy. They wanted the final blow on a Level 15 Elite, hoping for legendary loot. They didn't understand why the Guards had switched sides, but they weren't about to miss out on the spoils.

Watching from a distance, Shi Feng felt only contempt for their greed.

Did they really think they could steal this kill? Even though the mayor was now an enemy in the plot, he was still technically in a "Friendly" state for everyone else. They couldn't even target him.

When Cross hit 100 HP, the crowd surged forward. Everyone wanted to be the one to claim the kill and the treasure.

Shi Feng also moved as the end drew near.

Ultimately, a Guard’s blade delivered the killing blow. None of the other players could land a hit. Shi Feng didn't bother trying to compete for the kill; instead, he snatched the [Mayor’s Insignia] from the corpse and vanished into the throng of players.

In cities, killing NPCs usually provided no experience or items. Only because of the Quest was Shi Feng able to obtain the insignia.

“What the hell? Is the game bugged? I can’t hit him!”

“I’m reporting this! Why didn't he drop any loot?”

The inexperienced players shouted in frustration. They couldn't stand seeing a Level 15 Elite die without getting a piece of the action.

“Idiots. You have a Friendly reputation with him. You can’t attack Friendly NPCs. If you don't know the basics, why are you even playing God’s Domain?”

After mocking the newbies, the more experienced players looked around for Shi Feng. Anyone who could orchestrate the death of a Town Mayor was a top-tier expert worth knowing. However, Shi Feng had long since disappeared. Since they hadn't seen his name, they could only sigh in disappointment.

Meanwhile, the news of Mayor Cross’ death swept through Red Leaf Town, causing a massive stir.

While most players were struggling just to kill low-level mobs, someone had already brought down a town leader. It was unbelievable!

Less than half an hour after the servers opened, a post blew up on the official forums.

Mysterious Swordsman Slays Level 15 Elite Red Leaf Town Mayor! Mayor revealed as Werewolf Spy! What is God’s Domain hiding?

The post went viral instantly, racking up over ten million views in minutes. Everyone was desperate to find the mysterious Swordsman, but since his identity was hidden, no one could track him down.

At that moment, Shi Feng was back in the secluded alley.

“Master Sherlock, I have brought the Mayor’s Insignia as you asked.” Shi Feng handed the silver token to the beggar.

The completion of this Quest was a disaster for other players. Anyone who had a quest from the mayor was now stuck, as Cross would never respawn. Red Leaf Town was now without a leader, but Shi Feng didn't care about the consequences.

“Thank you. My friend has finally been avenged. Please, take these items as a token of my gratitude.”

Sherlock handed over a small, ornate box before taking the insignia and disappearing into the shadows.

System: Unique Quest “Sherlock’s Request” completed. Reward: 2000 EXP, 20 Free Mastery Points, 1 [Luxurious Ornament Box].

A golden light flashed as Shi Feng hit Level 1, leaving him only 1000 EXP away from Level 2. Just thirty minutes into the game, he was the highest-level player in Red Leaf Town. Normally, reaching Level 1 required 1000 EXP, which would take six or seven hours of grinding Level 0 mobs that only gave 3 EXP each. With the current player density, most people would take ten hours just to level up once.

“The rewards are even better than I expected. Is it because I finished it at Level 0?” Shi Feng wondered, pleasantly surprised.

In his previous life, the recorded rewards weren't this high. The EXP was the same, but the other player had only received 10 Mastery Points and a lower-quality box. Shi Feng had secured 20 points and a Luxurious version of the chest.

Mastery Points were incredibly rare in God’s Domain. Most quests only gave 3 or 5. Getting 20 at once was a massive boost.

“Please let it be inside. This is even better than the Delicate box, so it has to be there.” Shi Feng’s heart raced. He swallowed hard and slowly pried open the lid.

The EXP and points were great, but the item inside this box was the true prize. It was the cornerstone of his entire plan to level up and get rich. It was a legendary item that even the best experts would kill for. If it wasn't in the box, his entire strategy would crumble.
