"Well done," my father nodded with quiet approval, his expression still carrying the weight of the recent battle. "Let’s advance now. Faylen, stay behind."
My Familiars remained floating protectively behind us. They had mostly been observing the surroundings and shielding us from smaller threats, but they had been caught off-guard during the last fight and clearly felt a little bad that they could not contribute more.
"They were so fast. Is this how Divine Beasts of this level really are?" Beelzebub wondered aloud, his tone mixed with surprise and mild frustration. "I thought we could handle them the same way we handled the ones from Yggdra’s Dungeon!"
"Those were just Spiritual Beasts touched with her divinity. It’s not the same," Armageddon replied calmly, his voice carrying the steady authority of experience.
"Regardless, let’s stay on high alert this time," Yggdra said firmly. "As Sylphy’s familiars, we must be the ones shielding her from danger, not the opposite!"
These three were my strongest familiars so far. The rest of my companions were not yet that powerful and still remained somewhat within the realm of mortals. They had gained plenty of strength from my recent ascension, yet they could not match the caliber of these three. However, I believed Ignatius could reach that higher level soon enough. For now, I kept him fused into my body to boost my Weredragon Lineage Skill and further enhance my draconic powers.
"Hmm, this place sure is strange," Ignatius sighed as he emerged from my Divine Aura in the form of a large dragon head floating beside me. His golden eyes scanned the towering stone walls and the faintly glowing runes that lined the staircase. "What do you think, Sylphy?"
"I believe it is indeed very strange," I said, feeling the heavy pressure of the dungeon’s atmosphere pressing against my skin. "But we’ll get used to it... And it won’t last long. Can you feel Flamie though?"
"..."
Ignatius narrowed his eyes and expanded his draconic senses outward. After a moment he nodded. "I can, kind of... he’s up there, on the third floor, maybe."
As my father heard Ignatius’s words, he stopped climbing the stairs with us and looked back, his expression growing more conflicted.
"...I feel like I am risking everyone’s life unnecessarily," he sighed, the weight of responsibility clear in his voice. "Should we really be doing this? I know it’s selfish... maybe you should return."
My mother was immediately furious. "Allan! We came here all because we want to help your little dragon’s soul find peace! Do you think you can tell us to return after we’ve already come all the way here?!"
"But..." my father muttered, still hesitating.
"Dad, take it easy," my brother said gently yet firmly. "It’s not just you and mom against the world anymore. You’ve got us."
My dad looked at me and then at my brother, his eyes softening as the truth of those words settled in.
Indeed, perhaps in the past it had truly been just him and mom against the world. They had raised defenseless children while constantly running away and suffering through endless hardships.
But not anymore.
Their kids had grown up into fully fleshed-out adults. We were strong as hell now, having inherited their magic, their techniques, and every hard-earned teaching they had passed down to us.
"We’ll protect you," I said with a warm smile, stepping closer.
My brother nodded in agreement. "You already raised us. It’s time for us to start paying you back for all the love, attention, and years you suffered for our sakes."
My father sighed deeply. "I..." He started crying a little, tears quietly gathering at the corners of his eyes. "I am very proud of you two..."
As he cried, we hugged him tightly together with my brother, laughing softly at how much of a softie he had become over the years. I guessed it simply came with age and all the battles he had already fought.
My mother smiled gently and kissed his cheek. "Let’s go. We’re taking too long here."
My father nodded, wiping his eyes, and we followed him upward until we reached Floor 2.
It was not much different from Floor 1 at first glance, yet the layout was far more labyrinthine. Several diverging paths branched outward, many of which might easily lead to dead ends or sudden ambushes.
"This is annoying," my father sighed as he surveyed the multiple corridors. "And there’s no damn map, huh?"
"Nope," my brother said with a small shrug. "Shall we just pick a direction and go? Maybe taking it slow is the key."
"We cannot stay here forever. We’re only able to be here thanks to your sister’s Divine Power," my mother pointed out. "I don’t think she can maintain this for longer than a few more hours..."
"Right," I nodded, already feeling the increasing weight of the dungeon’s pressure against my divinity. "I’m not denying it. It’s getting heavier the moment we climbed these stairs... But I’ve got a trick."
I expanded my Aura carefully, summoning dozens of giant dragons formed from pure elemental energies and raw divinity. These constructs were not made from divine power itself, but from the very mass of divinity I could stretch and shape. This method allowed me to save my more limited divine power.
Somehow it was easier for me to stretch my divinity, cut it into living pieces, and later bring those pieces back to myself than it was to continuously spend or squeeze divine power from my core.
Sure, the special divine heart cultivation method that Armageddon had taught me was useful as hell and steadily improving, but it was still not producing enough for the level of demand I currently faced.
Thus, I had come up with unique solutions of my own.
"I’ll send these Yggdragon Clones toward the paths, and they’ll find us the correct one," I explained. "They will also lure any divine beasts that are nearby, so we can hunt them and continue growing stronger. Be on your guard."
Everyone nodded in understanding. We remained in the second floor’s vast central hall while my Yggdragon Aura Clones began walking steadily toward all five branching paths.
Ten minutes later, the first clone returned at high speed, three large arachnoid golems chasing closely behind it with skittering legs and glowing eyes.
"That one’s a dead end. Get ready!"
