The King immediately recognized just how vital and extraordinary Felicia’s powers truly were. Without wasting a single moment, he set aside his royal dignity and spoke with genuine humility.
"I would appreciate your help more than you can imagine," the King said, bowing his head respectfully. "Please, Felicia. I beg you."
"You don’t need to beg me, Your Majesty! You’re the King!" Felicia sighed heavily, crossing her arms over her chest with a mix of exasperation and reluctant affection.
"You, much like my granddaughter, are an incredible anomaly," the King continued, his voice steady yet warm. "A being with the rare power and potential to one day ascend to godhood. However, I also know your personality well... it is not the easiest to manage. Thus, I must beg you. Otherwise, I fear you will only put in a half-hearted effort. Tell me — is there anything you desire? Once this crisis is over, I will grant you anything within my power."
"No... stop it already!" Felicia snapped, her cheeks flushing with a mix of anger and embarrassment. "You’re a king! Act like one! I’ll help. That’s all there is to it."
The King’s eyebrows rose in mild surprise, but a knowing glint soon appeared in his eyes. "Hm? Oho? I see... I see what this is now..."
"W-What?!" Felicia glared at him furiously, her face growing even redder.
King Thassarion smiled teasingly, his usual regal aura momentarily replaced by grandfatherly mischief. "Has my granddaughter finally managed to melt that icy heart of yours, Felicia? I see. It seems I was right, bringing you here was an excellent decision. Perhaps you’ve finally found proper motivation. You have people you care about now, don’t you?"
"Your Highness, please stop talking nonsense and let’s get to work already!" Felicia replied with a menacing smile that only made the King smirk wider.
"Very well," the King nodded, amusement lingering in his expression as the two of them stepped forward together.
Chaos reigned across the city. Buildings lay in ruins, fires raged unchecked, and monstrous roars shook the air. Yet both Felicia and the King were more than prepared for the nightmare unfolding before them.
Felicia unleashed her magic almost instantly. With masterful precision, she manipulated the invisible particles in the air around her, triggering countless rapid reactions and arcane formations. She created cages of compressed empty space that crushed monsters into oblivion, followed by razor-sharp spatial blades that sliced through flesh, bone, and armor alike. The moment she touched one particularly large boss, its body destabilized at a molecular level and exploded violently into pieces.
She then seamlessly wove in her Temperature Magic, combining extreme heat and cold in devastating harmony. One unfortunate creature was instantly frozen solid before being subjected to catastrophic thermal expansion, causing it to shatter and burn simultaneously in a spectacular explosion. The rapid shifts in temperature proved lethal; few monsters could survive such brutal physiological torture for more than a few seconds.
Faint waves of blue and red light spread outward like ripples across a pond. In mere seconds, over a hundred monsters were boiled alive from the inside, their bodies bursting open as superheated fluids expanded violently within them.
"Easier than trying to rearrange their molecules one by one," Felicia remarked with a slight, satisfied smile. "But the bigger ones will require more effort. Attack!"
At her command, the squad of Divine Machines she had recently "recruited" sprang into action. They unleashed a relentless barrage of missiles, destructive energy beams, and high-caliber bullets that tore through the battlefield, completely decimating entire groups of bosses in spectacular fashion.
While Felicia dominated a large portion of the city with her overwhelming magical and mechanical assault, the King advanced steadily toward the heart of the destruction — the massive tower from which the invasion seemed to originate.
"Knights! Archmagi!" he called out, his powerful voice booming across the battlefield. "Your top priority is saving as many civilians as possible! Evacuate and protect them! I will hold the front line. No boss shall advance beyond my sight!"
The knights and archmagi roared in unified determination, immediately spreading out to rescue trapped citizens and combat the lesser threats.
The King turned his gaze toward the gigantic figures emerging from the tower, each leading armies of hundreds of monsters. "Intelligent monsters, huh? It makes no difference to me."
An army of over five hundred beasts charged forward, led by five powerful Tier 12 super-bosses whose mere presence caused the ground to tremble and the sky to darken with oppressive energy.
With a single, graceful swing of his sword—
The entire front line was bisected in an instant. The monsters exploded into clouds of branches, leaves, and dissipating energy as their souls were completely annihilated. Even their divine protections offered no defense against the King’s overwhelming might.
"Formidable indeed," the King murmured, a faint smile touching his lips. These creatures were noticeably tougher than usual; he had needed to exert at least ten percent more strength than normal to finish them so cleanly.
His sharp eyes soon spotted a large cave entrance leading underground, connecting to the other active dungeons. He sent a silent mental message through the air. "Sylph, we are doing well here. Make sure to return safely. If not, your grandfather is coming to rescue you himself."
Though faint, he could sense her presence spreading everywhere. A strange, warm power was now flowing into the souls of everyone fighting in the city. The King could have easily resisted it, yet he chose not to. Instead, he embraced the energy, allowing it to strengthen him while absorbing its essence.
"This is Sylph’s premature divine blessing... What a wonderful creation," he thought with deep pride. "It strengthens everyone and pushes them beyond their limits. This girl... she is truly our future."
The King pressed forward, slaying countless foes with effortless grace. As time passed, the number of monsters rampaging through the city rapidly dwindled. Then, a familiar voice reached his ears.
"Father! You really came!"
He turned and smiled warmly as his daughter Faylen appeared, accompanied by her husband Allan. The King had just finished obliterating an entire army of monsters so powerful they could have razed an entire nation in a single day.
"Hello, Faylen. Of course I came," the King replied gently. "I could not turn a blind eye to such wanton destruction, especially when provoked by a rampaging Evil God. It has been a long time since I last fought... perhaps over five hundred years."
"Thank you for being here, Father-in-law," Allan said respectfully as they descended from the sky.
The King observed their auras with visible pride. The Divinity Sparks within their souls were growing steadily, evolving and maturing at an impressive rate for their relatively young ages. "You have both grown much stronger. Your powers are evolving beautifully. You are every bit as talented as your daughter."
"Sylphy is on another level entirely, though," Allan noted with a fond yet worried smile.
"We’re so worried about her," Faylen added, anxiety clear in her voice. "Can you see further than us, Father? Is she alright?"
"I am trying, but—"
Thousands of monsters and bosses from the next wave united into a single massive army, launching a coordinated assault. Countless deadly spells and attacks rained down upon the King.
He simply gazed at the incoming barrage, calm and unyielding. With one powerful swing of his sword—
Every spell was sliced apart mid-air, exploding harmlessly before they could reach him. The shockwave continued onward, instantly slaughtering the monsters that had dared to ambush him.
"Arafunn, Ninhursag, Sylph’s Familiar, Nephilim, and Felicia are all here," the King stated calmly. "Allan, Faylen, Shade — go search for your daughters. I will hold the line."
"But—!" Allan began, clearly wanting to stay and fight alongside him.
"No buts," the King sighed, understanding their parental desperation. "I know you’re worried to death. I cannot keep you here while your hearts are elsewhere. Go! I can handle this much on my own."
"...Thank you, Father." Faylen nodded gratefully, grabbing Allan’s arm. "Shade!"
"Yes!" Shade descended like a comet of shadow and took Faylen’s hand.
In an instant, the three of them teleported directly to the entrance of the Burning Forest Dungeon. Without hesitation, they rushed inside.
"Sylphy...! Wait for us!" Faylen cried out, her voice filled with motherly urgency as she ran ahead.
"Let’s go!" Allan urged.
"Let’s hurry!" Shade shouted. "Nepheline... Aquarina... Emeraldine...! Please be safe!"
