Shade uses his shadow powers to rescue civilians from monsters, hiding them in his Shadow Realm. He reassures them, explaining his role as Hero Shade and promising to guide them to safety. After sending them through a portal, he agrees to search for a girl's parents and summons Shadow Knights to protect the fleeing citizens. Shade then battles powerful boss monsters, including a Ruby Dragon Golem, and merges with his familiar Vulcan to increase his strength. He worries about his wife and daughter who are in dungeons while communication is cut off, sensing a strange divine power connected to Sylph.

Shade’s appearance transformed dramatically as he became fully encompassed by an insectoid armor of sleek black and ghostly blue. He gained multiple new arms, each one gripping a different sharp knife. Then he leaped forward, soaring through the air with giant insect wings while activating his shadow step technique to move even faster.

In mere seconds, he reached the boss party. He slaughtered hundreds of monsters along the way as the bosses roared in response and greeted him with powerful weapons and magic. This time, the formidable group consisted of a Dark Bone Knight, a towering giant made of bones and black armor, a Great Stone Titan, a mighty golem king formed entirely of stone, a Giant Lizardman Chief, the leader of a race of giant lizardmen monsters, and the Sovereign of Clouds, a giant bird with cloud-like wings capable of conjuring healing, protection, and many other support spells while raining down thunder and winds from above.

It was a formidable team. They fought in complete sync with one another. But even then, once Shade struck their weak points and used his assassination techniques to their fullest, they could only fall to their knees. They were slaughtered one by one.

Even their divine protections meant absolutely nothing before Shade. Combining his power with Vulcan, he slaughtered them over and over until they finally died. His attacks became flashing fast and incredibly devastating. The bosses simply could not deal with him. Their techniques failed, their coordination broke down, and everything fell apart.

The Sovereign of Clouds fell first. She cried out in pain as her wings were severed, and then she was beheaded after surviving three times thanks to her divine protections.

Without their healer, Shade quickly turned his attention to the heavy hitters. He destroyed the core of the Dark Bone Knight. Afterward, he went after the Giant Lizardman Chief and his army of one thousand Giant Lizardmen, who all met a swift end. Once they were dealt with, the Great Stone Titan was the last remaining. Slow but incredibly strong, Shade destroyed its legs and made the giant collapse under its own weight before destroying its core several times until it finally died.

As a Hero who had fought all these bosses before during his trial when he was younger, when he was forced to descend that accursed tower until all one hundred floors were cleared, he remembered every monster’s techniques, patterns, and weaknesses perfectly.

Intelligent or not, they simply could not deal with an assassin at Shade’s level.

He quickly reached the merchant guild, which was already half destroyed. Flames covered the entire area. His eyes darted around as he spread his senses, detecting a few bodies.

Some were dead. Others were still surviving.

A boss sat atop one of the buildings, laughing maniacally and spitting flames everywhere. It was a giant made of volcanic flames known as the Flame Tyrant.

The creature laughed heartily while spreading flames in every direction, burning houses and causing chaos across the city.

"Even with intelligence, you’re still just the same monster, huh?"

"?!"

The moment Shade appeared, he struck to kill. His many weapons combined into a single, potent strike that split the neck of the giant monster, causing its head to fall and explode.

However, it was not truly dead. It had been beheaded, which dulled its senses for a moment. But as an Elemental-type Monster, it was capable of reforming from most injuries using ambient mana.

However, with the curse now flowing through its body, purple miasmic flames appeared, and an armor of purple crystals formed around the giant.

"That’s right."

Shade avoided a giant blazing blade as he jumped back. He gathered energy into his hands and fired a massive sphere of darkness.

The giant boss screamed as half of its body was instantly disintegrated. Volcanic stone, magma, and lava rapidly began reforming the missing parts.

The Flame Tyrant laughed wildly and charged toward Shade, shapeshifting as it went. It formed dozens of massive fists to punch him from every angle.

However, it ended up striking only empty air. Shade had already disappeared. He landed on the ground, rushed into the building, and quickly retrieved the survivors.

Whether they were the kid’s parents or not, he did not know, but they were at least all those who remained alive.

"What are you doing?! Fight me!"

The giant approached, swinging its feet down and stomping constantly. Shade swiftly left the building, scaled the monster’s burning leg, and reached its chest.

His shadows combined into a massive fist of darkness and ghostly flames before punching the giant’s chest.

"?!"

The giant stumbled and crashed into the ground with a loud tremor, spreading flames everywhere. Shade swiftly descended while holding a single knife and pierced its chest.

The boss’s core shattered, but the divine protection triggered and healed it once more.

The boss laughed and punched Shade away with a blazing explosion from its burning fists. Shade slammed into a tower, causing it to collapse over a burning section of the city.

"Tsk."

Shade cleared the blood from his mouth as he watched the giant rise once more, laughing evilly.

"I won’t go down easily anymore. I will win!"

The Flame Tyrant laughed as its body became more muscular, growing multiple arms and three heads. It charged at Shade with everything it had.

The Hero of Shadows responded by standing still and waiting for the perfect moment before disappearing.

The boss felt his presence on its back and punched with all its strength.

"You can’t get me a second time, bastard! You think I’m stupid?! And- Huh?"

However, the boss was indeed stupid. It had hit not Shade, but a decoy. A black sword exploded into dozens of sword fragments.

Shade swiftly spun in midair and appeared behind the monster once more. Dozens of knives merged into a long sword that emerged from his hand.

He beheaded the creature once more, then bisected it while shattering its core at the same time.

The boss regenerated again, returning even stronger.

"Tsk. I can’t just constantly do this!" Shade thought while dodging a giant beam of flames from the monster’s back. "I have to find a way to pierce through its divine protection. Is there any? Is it even possible to shatter a divine blessing with a physical attack?"
