Song Wen completed a wooden boat and continued his routine meetings. Meanwhile, a delegation of eight humans, led by a formidable cultivator named Yuanrong, arrived at the Willow Serpent Clan, claiming to have found an ancient teleportation array. Qing Lian expressed concern about Song Wen's ability to return home and offered to help, while King Jianglin revealed the delegation's disturbing proposal: to trade low-level male cultivators for resources.

"To high-tier human cultivators like Yuanrong and his ilk, low-tier cultivators are nothing more than ants and grass—easily replaced. But spirit stones and spiritual objects are vital to our Willow Serpent Clan’s cultivation."

"You humans want to trade your mere ants for our precious cultivation resources. How audacious of you to think you can pull off such a scheme!"

"The massive drain of cultivation resources will inevitably weaken our clan. In a few centuries, we might not even be able to produce another Eighth-Tier Demon King, shaking the very foundations of the Willow Serpent Clan."

"Yet King Yinliu and several other Demon Kings have been tempted by the humans’ offer. They lack foresight, blinded by short-sighted greed, only caring for immediate pleasure and ignoring the long-term interests of our clan."

King Jianglin’s voice was icy, laced with fury.

"Your Majesty, this trade proposal came from those few humans. It has nothing to do with me," Song Wen hastily clarified.

"You humans... you’re all the same!" King Jianglin snarled through clenched teeth.

She lunged forward, closing the distance to Song Wen. Her hands seized the collar of his robes and tore it open with a violent rip.

His muscular chest was suddenly exposed.

She pressed her palms against his chest and shoved him with tremendous force.

Song Wen felt an overwhelming force send him flying through the air. He soared dozens of zhang before crashing into the water pool within the cultivation cave.

Before he could react, a thick serpent tail coiled around his legs, and a cold, soft body pressed against his.

The pond water churned, its surface dotted with spray that dampened the rocks along its edge.

After a night had passed, King Jianglin had vanished without a trace, leaving only Song Wen, battered and bruised.

"Crazy bitch!" he cursed, flying out of the water. With a slight circulation of his spiritual power, the bruises across his body rapidly vanished.

Song Wen dressed neatly and, seeing the sky outside was already faintly lit, opened the stone door of his cultivation cave. He estimated that Qing Lian should be arriving soon.

However, he waited until the third quarter of the Chen hour. The sun had risen high in the sky, but Qing Lian did not appear. Instead, someone he hadn’t expected arrived: Yuanrong!

Yuanrong landed on the open ground outside the cave, his gaze piercing through the dim entrance to reach the depths within. The cave, illuminated by a skylight in the domed ceiling, was somewhat gloomy.

"Yesterday, King Yinliu mentioned that a cultivator from the Eastern Profound Continent had recently arrived among the Willow Serpent Clan. I was quite curious and came to pay my respects. Little friend, will you show yourself?"

"It is the junior’s honor that a senior of your stature has come to visit. Please enter, Senior," Song Wen’s voice replied from within the cave.

Yuanrong moved swiftly and disappeared into the deep cave.

Inside the cave, Song Wen stood with his hands clasped in a respectful bow. On a nearby stone table, a steaming teapot and two teacups sat, radiating warmth.

"Please take a seat, Senior," Song Wen said. After Yuanrong appeared, Song Wen gestured toward the table.

Yuanrong didn’t stand on ceremony and sat down at the table.

Song Wen sat opposite him.

He picked up the teapot, filled Yuanrong’s cup, and then poured himself a cup as well.

"Senior, please enjoy."

Yuanrong didn’t touch the tea, nor did he even glance at it. Instead, his eyes, sharp as lightning, fixed on Song Wen.

"Ji Yin... I knew it was you!"

Song Wen raised his cup and took a shallow sip.

"Senior must have mistaken me for someone else. I don’t know you."

"Ji Yin, you are a dignified Body Integration Stage cultivator. Do you not even dare to acknowledge your own identity and origins?" Yuanrong demanded.

"Senior Yuanrong... why aren’t you drinking? Are you afraid it’s poisoned?" Song Wen deflected, changing the subject.

But by addressing Yuanrong by his proper title, he had indirectly confirmed his own identity.

Though he had altered his appearance before entering the Willow Serpent Clan, he had kept his name unchanged.

More importantly, a Body Integration Stage cultivator had arrived at the Willow Serpent Clan shortly after the cultivators were teleported to the Western Rong Continent. Yuanrong couldn’t possibly fail to guess his identity.

If Song Wen had presented himself as a Divine Transformation Stage cultivator, Yuanrong might not have been suspicious.

"Just as I thought," Yuanrong said, a cold smile curling his lips.

"May I ask the purpose of your visit today, Senior?" Song Wen inquired.

Instead of answering, Yuanrong flipped his hand and produced a talisman.

One corner of the talisman ignited spontaneously.

As the flames spread, the talisman gradually turned to ash, swirling into a faint wisp of white smoke.

Song Wen suddenly rose to his feet, his gaze turning icy as he stared at Yuanrong.

"Senior Yuanrong, what do you intend to do?"

The white smoke gradually billowed, completely engulfing Yuanrong’s figure and slowly spreading toward Song Wen.

Song Wen discovered that the smoke had the effect of blocking divine sense.

Though his eyes could still faintly perceive Yuanrong’s indistinct form, his divine sense registered nothing at all.

"Little friend, there is no need for alarm. This is the Profound Barrier Talisman, which distorts divine sense and prevents eavesdropping. Even a Tribulation Crossing Stage cultivator or a Ninth-Realm Demon Sovereign would be unable to pierce this veil of smoke."

As the white smoke gradually advanced to engulf him, Song Wen ultimately chose not to retreat. Instead, he calmly sat back down.

He had realized something: within the Willow Serpent Clan’s territory, Yuanrong would not dare to make a move against him.

Moreover, this so-called Profound Barrier Talisman was clearly extremely rare. Yuanrong’s elaborate preparations must mean he had a significant request and a grand scheme in mind.

At the same time, Song Wen realized that Yuanrong’s visit to the Willow Serpent Clan under the guise of the "Human Delegation of the Eastern Profound Continent" was far from a simple trade negotiation.

Exchanging low-tier human cultivators for cultivation resources would indeed benefit Yuanrong’s sect, but it offered little personal gain for Yuanrong himself.

Yuanrong must have another agenda.

The thick white smoke eventually enveloped a ten-zhang radius around Song Wen and Yuanrong, then stopped spreading.

"Senior Yuanrong, let’s get straight to the point," Song Wen said. "Why have you graced my humble abode?"

"This white smoke illusion can only last for a quarter of an hour, so I don’t have time for pleasantries," Yuanrong replied. "I’ve come to offer you a heaven-sent opportunity."

"Oh, a heaven-sent opportunity?" Song Wen peered through the swirling mist at Yuanrong. "I’m all ears. What kind of opportunity might it be?"

"I intend to exterminate the entire Willow Serpent Clan, and I need an inside man..."

"Senior Yuanrong!"

Song Wen suddenly interrupted.

"My humble dwelling is too simple to host a guest of your stature. Please leave swiftly."

Song Wen’s voice was cold and unyielding, leaving no room for negotiation.

The Willow Serpent Clan was guarded by a ninth-tier Demon Sovereign. Yuanrong’s audacity in openly declaring his intent to exterminate them was baffling. Where did he get such confidence?

But Song Wen wanted no part in this. It was a suicide mission.
