Eight months later.
The three Giant Flying Ships of the Southern Nether Continent’s three great sects, traveling day and night, finally arrived at Crimson Cloud Province, reaching the location of the teleportation array.
This desolate area lay nestled among towering mountains, where Spiritual Qi was scarce.
Within a ten-thousand-mile radius, only a few low-level rogue cultivators hunting demon beasts could be found—a truly desolate place.
It remained a mystery how the Azure Flame Sect had discovered the hidden teleportation array concealed within these mountains.
The array was located deep within the belly of a massive mountain, accessible through a cave at its base.
However, the cave entrance was protected by a restriction formation, impenetrable to divine sense, leaving Song Wen temporarily unable to discern what lay within.
After the three Giant Flying Ships came to a halt, Wang Qiuyue leaped from her ship and, together with the leaders of the other two sects, descended to a pavilion nestled among the mountains below.
Before long, Wang Qiuyue returned to the deck.
"Apart from the Azure Flame Sect, representatives from Crimson Cloud Province’s other three major powers have yet to arrive. We must wait a while longer. Please remain on the ships and take these days to rest and recuperate."
The wait stretched for half a month.
During this time, Giant Flying Ships continued to arrive, each carrying five cultivators. Every ship was guarded by at least two Body Integration Stage cultivators, with the largest contingent boasting four Late Body Integration Stage cultivators from a sect called the Sun Moon Sect.
As the final faction arrived, a middle-aged female cultivator at the peak of the Body Integration Stage flew out from a pavilion nestled among the mountains below.
"I am Tian Ming of the Azure Flame Sect," she announced. "Welcome, fellow daoists."
"Fellow Daoist Tian Ming, you are too kind," replied Shangguan Ren, the leader of the Myriad Swords Pavilion, a Late Body Integration Stage cultivator.
"Fellow Daoist Tian Ming, the three great sects of the Southern Nether Continent and the four major factions of Crimson Cloud Province have all assembled. When shall we activate the teleportation array?" Shangguan Ren inquired.
"That depends on your consensus," Tian Ming replied. "The Azure Flame Sect is ready to depart at any time."
"The three great sects of the Southern Nether Continent are also prepared to depart immediately," Shangguan Ren continued. "Fellow Daoists from the Sun Moon Sect, the Mao Family of Heavenly Spring Lake, and the Li Clan of Star Luo Mountain, would you care to rest before we proceed?"
"Better to strike while the iron is hot," a raspy voice rasped, like dry bones grinding together. "Let us activate the teleportation array at once."
The speaker was an elderly woman from the Sun Moon Sect. Her body radiated a chilling ghost qi, her face was withered, and a glimpse of crooked, yellowed teeth showed between her parched lips.
The old woman’s suggestion was met with agreement from the other factions.
With the consensus reached, they resolved to depart immediately.
"Since that’s settled, please gather your disciples and follow me into the cave," Tian Ming said, slowly descending toward the cave entrance below.
"Fan Kang, Ji Yin... prepare to move out," Wang Qiuyue’s voice echoed in Song Wen’s ears.
With a wave of her hand, she retracted the Spirit Jade Palace’s Giant Flying Ship.
Song Wen flew to Wang Qiuyue’s side, following her into the cave below.
At last, he caught sight of the Myriad Swords Pavilion cultivator who had remained hidden until now.
The figure wore a green robe and a conical hat with a veil that completely obscured their face, revealing not a trace of their aura. It was impossible to discern their gender.
However, judging by their slender frame, they were likely female.
The green-robed figure walked silently beside Shangguan Ren, uttering not a word.
The thirty cultivators from the six major factions entered the cave one after another.
The cave extended inward for about a hundred zhang before abruptly turning downward, plunging straight into the earth.
After descending approximately fifty kilometers, the group arrived at a massive, naturally formed cavern.
The cavern’s ceiling was studded with countless luminous gemstones, bathing the vast, tens-of-kilometers-wide space in brilliant light.
At the center of the cavern stood a massive, cylindrical stone pillar.
Intricate formation patterns were etched across its surface.
Surrounding the pillar were forty smaller stone columns, each about the thickness of a human waist.
In addition to these structures, several guards and ten fully equipped Azure Flame Sect cultivators stood ready within the cavern.
"Fellow Daoists," Tian Ming announced, "this teleportation array can transport a maximum of forty people at a time. Thirty of you represent the six major factions, while ten of us are from the Azure Flame Sect. Now that all forty of us are assembled, please ascend the surrounding stone columns. I will activate the formation immediately."
As soon as her words were spoken, all forty individuals, including Tian Ming herself, rose into the air and landed on their respective columns.
With a wave of her hand, Tian Ming conjured ten thousand high-grade spirit stones before her.
The spirit stones flew out and settled into the grooves at the base of the central pillar.
Next, an array disk materialized before her.
As Tian Ming executed a series of magic seals and channeled them into the disk, the formation patterns on the central pillar gradually began to glow, emitting a blinding azure light.
The azure light intensified, gradually rendering the entire pillar crystalline and translucent.
Bathed in the azure light, the figures of the group gradually blurred.
Song Wen felt an immense force suddenly crush down upon him, as if a mountain weighing ten thousand tons had slammed onto his skull. His bones creaked under the unbearable weight.
Simultaneously, a blinding azure light exploded before his eyes, tearing his senses to shreds and distorting his divine sense.
Everything around him twisted into grotesque shapes, even his own limbs stretching into thread-like strands.
Song Wen had never experienced such a torturous teleportation before.
Enduring the agony in his physical body, he plunged his entire consciousness into the depths of his sea of consciousness, maintaining the clarity and purity of his divine soul’s Soul Platform.
The other end of the teleportation array might hold unknown dangers, and he needed to remain fully alert.
Under the crushing pain, each breath stretched into an eternity.
After what felt like an age, Song Wen suddenly felt the crushing force vanish, replaced by the solid ground beneath his feet.
The azure light faded, leaving only blurry green shadows that temporarily obscured his vision.
To guard against surprises, Song Wen immediately released his divine sense to survey the surroundings.
But the moment his divine sense left his body, an overwhelming pressure slammed down, forcing it back into his body.
Just as the first wave of oppressive force subsided, another descended, equally overwhelming. Song Wen’s briefly relaxed body once again felt crushed under a crushing weight.
"Fellow Daoist Yuan Rong, you swore you’d never be among the first to scout the Western Rong Continent. Why have you come here today?"
"Heh."
A soft laugh drifted through the air. The voice possessed both a man’s deep timbre and a woman’s sharp, delicate edge, as if deliberately strained.
"Fellow Daoist Yongcheng, aren’t you here as well?"
By now, Song Wen’s divine sense still couldn’t penetrate the surroundings, but his eyes had adjusted. In the dim light, he finally made out his surroundings: a subterranean cave, shrouded in darkness. The others who had been teleported with him were nearby.
As for the speakers:
One was a burly man with a full beard.
The other was the green-robed figure from Myriad Swords Pavilion. He had removed his hood, revealing his true face.
His skin was fair, his lips thin and rosy, and his almond-shaped eyes held a hint of tenderness. Combined with his slender frame, he appeared every inch the delicate, beautiful woman.
Yet as he spoke, the distinct movement of an Adam’s apple could be seen sliding along his slender neck.
