Leng Zhi betrayed Song Wen, Xue Cong, and Heng Ziping, stealing their Auxiliary Array Disks and ejecting them from her tornado formation. While they ascended, a calamitous backlash of silver lightning forced them to flee. When the abyss gale reversed, Song Wen chose to descend, followed by Xue Cong and Heng Ziping, while Leng Zhi also succumbed to the reversal and fell.

Song Wen felt like a solitary vessel facing a monstrous oceanic wave. Consumed by the tempest, he was rendered powerless, a mere plaything of the wind, with surging currents dragging him towards oblivion.

Fortunately, the Lightning Serpents had dissipated, leaving only the ferocity of the gale.

He poured all his might into activating the Blood Sea Seal, manifesting a robust blood shield around himself, offering a fragile sanctuary.

After an unquantifiable descent through fathomless darkness, Song Wen abruptly perceived a transformation in the gale's trajectory, shifting from a direct plunge to a diagonal descent.

With a dull impact, the crimson shield collided with a surface that felt as unyielding as forged copper and iron.

The colossal force shattered the blood shield, scattering it into ruby droplets, which were instantly annihilated by the relentless gale, vanishing without a trace.

Song Wen's heart lurched, the chilling specter of death descending upon him instantly.

Stripped of the blood shield's defense, he was now hurtling towards that same unyielding barrier.

If even the formidable Blood Sea Seal could not withstand the terrifying collision, how could his fragile mortal body possibly survive?

"Master, plunge deeper! The gale ceases below," Shadow Void's urgent voice resonated within Song Wen's consciousness.

Heeding the counsel, Song Wen channeled his divine sense further into the chasm while simultaneously invoking the Life Substitution Art.

Another muffled thud reverberated as Song Wen's physical form disintegrated into fragments.

Under Shadow Void's guidance, Song Wen's divine sense penetrated a mere ten-zhang thick stratum of gale, uncovering a void of absolute blackness.

Within this expanse, there was no gale, nor even air or dust—only perfect nullity.

It was precisely this void that allowed Song Wen's divine sense to traverse unimpeded.

Bolstered by the Life Substitution Art, Song Wen's essence abruptly materialized within this somber expanse.

He understood then that the Life Substitution Art, deployed in his moment of mortal peril, had not only propelled him beyond the gale's grasp but had also accelerated his descent by approximately two thousand li.

Two thousand li above, ceaseless gales poured down from the heavens, funneling into two gargantuan caverns, each exceeding a thousand li in diameter.

These openings were not carved into rock but seemed to float, suspended in the aerial expanse. More accurately, they were positioned upon an immense, boundless boulder jutting from the cliff face.

It was noteworthy that the two caverns were not adjacent, but separated by a distance of roughly seven to eight hundred li.

Song Wen cast a wary glance at the two openings before commencing a survey of his immediate surroundings.

He found himself in what appeared to be a boundless void. In every direction—above, below, left, right, and behind—there was nothing but unending darkness.

Having narrowly escaped his calamitous descent, he resolved to venture further down.

After all, based on the collective deductions of himself and Leng Zhi's party, the depths of the abyss might harbor a significant reservoir of Pure Origin Heavenly Dew.

As for the means of escape, Song Wen harbored no immediate concern. He merely needed to await the gale's reversal, its upward surge, and then ride the currents to safety.

Just as he prepared to move, the two caverns above unleashed a deafening roar, akin to divine thunder rending solid rock.

In immediate succession, innumerable Lightning Serpents erupted forth, surging upwards into the void.

"This... could the gale be shifting its course once more?" Song Wen mused aloud.

The previous alteration in the gale's direction had coincided with the emergence of countless Lightning Serpents within the abyss.

Furthermore, Leng Zhi had made a hasty retreat from the abyss upon witnessing the Lightning Serpents, even abandoning Song Wen and his comrades to stabilize the vortex and hasten her own escape.

"Wasn't the gale supposed to change direction every hour?" Song Wen's brow furrowed deeply. "Why is it shifting so prematurely this time?"

While he could not ascertain the precise duration of their fall, it had certainly not been an entire hour.

Moreover, the last directional shift had occurred nearly fifteen minutes ahead of schedule; otherwise, the quartet, who had been diligently monitoring the time, would not have found themselves in such dire straits.

As Song Wen had surmised, the gale began to noticeably abate with the appearance of the Lightning Serpents.

Suddenly, a chilling glint sliced through the serpent swarm, descending rapidly.

Song Wen's gaze sharpened—it was Heng Ziping.

The sharp glint emanated from the colossal sword he wielded to carve a path.

Heng Ziping had evidently endured severe hardship from the Lightning Serpents. The protective shield of Sword Qi, formed by his three flying swords, was critically weakened, its Sword Qi dissipating at an alarming rate, nearing its collapse.

Emerging immediately behind Heng Ziping were two more figures: Xue Cong and Leng Zhi, descending in tandem.

Xue Cong poured all his spiritual energy into conjuring a protective barrier that shielded both himself and Leng Zhi. Meanwhile, Leng Zhi gripped a bronze mace, its three-foot length crackling with destructive Thunderlight as she shattered the rampaging Lightning Serpents.

Song Wen’s expression grew grim as he observed the trio descending directly towards him.

Their fortune was extraordinarily good. They had landed during a fleeting pause in the turbulent gale’s currents; any harsher impact with the cave walls would have pulverized them. The force of such a collision far exceeded the resilience of a cultivator at the Void Refinement Stage.

“Fellow Daoist Gou Jun, you’ve actually survived? I truly didn’t expect the gale to spare you from those perilous caves,” Heng Ziping remarked, sheathing his enormous sword before quickly consuming two medicinal pills.

“I am not dead,” Song Wen responded with a chilling tone. “It appears that disappoints you greatly, Fellow Daoist Heng!”

“Your fate holds no consequence for me,” Heng Ziping stated, halting his approach about a hundred miles from Song Wen. He then looked up towards the two figures descending from above, his gaze hardening. “However, Leng Zhi’s blatant betrayal demands vengeance. Gou Jun, will you lend me your strength to eliminate her?”

Xue Cong and Leng Zhi had also ceased their descent, now hovering five hundred miles above Song Wen and Heng Ziping.

“Heng Ziping, I have already forged an alliance with the esteemed Fellow Daoist Xue Cong,” Leng Zhi declared. “Challenging the two of us on your own would be futile.”

A flicker of clear disdain crossed Heng Ziping’s features.

“Xue Cong is merely a pathetic parasite who depends entirely on others for survival. Leng Zhi, you must surely be blind to ally yourself with such an imbecile!”

Xue Cong’s eyes widened, his gaze shooting towards Heng Ziping like a sharpened arrow.

“Heng Ziping, cease your insolent boasts! The ultimate outcome of this conflict is far from decided!”

“Just as I suspected – utterly incompetent refuse,” Heng Ziping sneered, his voice laced with profound contempt. “Xue Cong, Leng Zhi has already betrayed you once before. How can you possibly dare to ally with her again? Do you not fear a second, more devastating betrayal?”

“You…!”

Veins began to throb on Xue Cong’s forehead, and his spiritual power surged uncontrollably, yet he hesitated to make a move.

Heng Ziping paid him no further attention, shifting his focus instead to Song Wen.

“Gou Jun, are you going to join forces with me or not?”

“Your desperate struggle for survival is of no interest to me. I will not involve myself in your petty squabbles,” Song Wen replied icily, his eyes completely devoid of any discernible emotion. “Furthermore, if you insist on fighting to the death, kindly do so far away from my vicinity. I have no desire to attract unwanted complications.”

“Gou Jun, what exactly is the meaning behind your words? Are you perhaps hoping we will weaken each other so you can swoop in and claim the ultimate prize? Or are you, like Xue Cong, merely a coward paralyzed by incompetence?” Heng Ziping pressed further.
