Song Wen agrees to meet Mi Man and heads to the Jade Cauldron Pavilion, a brothel, where he disguises himself. Mi Man arrives and reveals she needs his thunder magic to purify "Formless Weak Water" for her natal magic treasure. Song Wen recognizes the water's potential for his own Blood Sea Seal but notes its current impurity and weakness, prompting him to inquire about more potent versions.

"This item didn’t originate from my sect," Mi Man stated, perceiving Song Wen’s keen interest in the Formless Weak Water. "Its derivation is elsewhere. Once you aid me in purifying its Yin Energy, I shall disclose the full account to you."

Song Wen offered a slight smile and resettled himself on the bed.

"Esteemed Daoist Mi Man, your expectations are overly ambitious if you believe a mere fragment of information suffices to compel my assistance."

"Then what is your demand?" Mi Man inquired.

"One hundred thousand high-grade spirit stones," Song Wen declared.

Mi Man’s countenance faltered. Not long prior, she herself had levied a similarly exorbitant request upon Song Wen.

"One thousand high-grade spirit stones—that represents my ultimate concession. While the Spirit Jade Palace doesn’t specialize in cultivating thunder magic, numerous affiliated families possess such expertise. A mere thousand high-grade spirit stones are ample to secure the services of any Divine Transformation Stage expert."

Song Wen contemplated for a brief interval, then exhaled a soft sigh.

"Very well, I assent. Who could possibly resist your allure, Fellow Daoist?"

Mi Man rolled her eyes, evidently unimpressed by Song Wen’s complimentary remarks.

"Esteemed Daoist Mi Man, I request that you erect a concealment formation within the courtyard to ensure we remain undisturbed while I undertake the purification of the Yin Energy," Song Wen further elaborated.

The task of cleansing the Yin Energy from the Formless Weak Water was a simple endeavor for Song Wen, thus he saw no necessity in seeking an alternative, secluded locale.

Mi Man inclined her head and turned to depart the chamber, commencing forthwith the establishment of a formation in the courtyard.

As a faint, gray barrier enveloped the courtyard, she observed with surprise the appearance of an additional barrier, now encircling the dwelling, effectively barring her ingress and obstructing her divine sense’s penetration.

"Lei Yue, what transpires?"

"My esteemed Daoist, a moment’s patience, I implore. My sole intention is to preclude any potential interruptions," Song Wen’s voice resonated from within.

Mi Man’s almond-shaped eyes widened as she fixed a disgruntled gaze upon the door, yet she refrained from forcing entry. Following a brief silence, she turned and proceeded to the stone table situated in the courtyard, taking a seat.

She had anticipated that Song Wen would require a duration of three to five days to complete the task. However, merely a few hours later, as twilight began to descend, the door suddenly swung open.

She promptly arose to greet Song Wen, who was now emerging from the room.

"Lei Yue, how progressed the refining of the Formless Weak Water?"

"It rests within. Esteemed Daoist, examine it for yourself."

With those words, Song Wen glided past Mi Man and took his position at the stone table within the courtyard.

Mi Man entered the chamber. After several moments, she returned to the courtyard, the jade box containing the Formless Weak Water hovering before her.

"Lei Yue, I did not foresee such swift efficiency from you. In mere hours, you have utterly expunged the Yin Energy from the Formless Weak Water."

Song Wen lifted his gaze, his eyes discerning Mi Man’s delicate features accompanied by a knowing smile.

"Esteemed Daoist, you are well aware of my expeditious methods. Pray tell, shall we forgo the matter of the thousand spirit stones? I could offer another demonstration of my alacrity."

Mi Man paused for a beat, her cheeks then suffusing with a deep crimson as she retorted indignantly, "Here are your spirit stones!"

She propelled a storage pouch toward Song Wen.

He caught it, his expression betraying a hint of feigned regret.

"Now, reveal the provenance of this Formless Weak Water."

"Fu Hongwen bestowed it upon me," Mi Man disclosed.

Upon the mention of Fu Hongwen, Song Wen’s mind immediately conjured the image of the Nascent Soul cultivator who had been utterly enthralled by Mi Man, his very divine soul ensnared. Fu Hongwen’s father, Fu Chengye, had met his end by Song Wen’s own hand.

"Fu Chengye was merely a cultivator of the Nascent Soul stage. From whence did he procure the Formless Weak Water?" Song Wen inquired.

"My knowledge on that matter is not entirely comprehensive," Mi Man admitted. "Apparently, the Fu Clan recently embarked upon an expedition into a hazardous region and chanced upon it. Aware of my prolonged search for this substance, he presented it to me as a token of regard. Should you require further particulars, I could summon him to elucidate? He remains within Great Tan City, I believe."

Song Wen rose to his feet and approached Mi Man, extending his arm to encircle her waist.

"Esteemed Daoist, do you truly harbored no desire to rekindle our past affections?"

Mi Man was entirely engrossed in observing the Weak Water contained within the jade box and did not register Song Wen’s advance until he had already made his move. Her elegantly arched eyebrows instantly drew together in vexation as she swiftly retreated, creating a distance of one zhang between them and evading Song Wen’s grasp.

"Lei Yue," she admonished, "though I may possess a degree of avarice, I am by no means a woman of loose morals."

With that declaration, she turned to depart the courtyard, continuing as she walked, "If you are intent on meeting Fu Hongwen, then follow me. A rendezvous cannot occur here."

Expressing a subtle disappointment, Song Wen followed Mi Man as they exited the Jade Cauldron Pavilion.

Under Mi Man’s guidance, they traversed the thoroughfare and entered an establishment of considerable grandeur, a restaurant.

After making themselves comfortable in a private dining area with spirit wine and exquisite food ordered, Mi Man retrieved a jade Communication Slip.

Once several messages had been dispatched and the jade slip put away, she declared, "Fu Hongwen will be arriving soon."

"Thank you for your assistance, Fellow Daoist," Song Wen responded.

Precisely as Mi Man had anticipated, a knock sounded at the door approximately fifteen minutes later.

Song Wen rose, moved towards the entrance, and opened it to find three individuals waiting outside.

Accompanying Fu Hongwen, who was only at the Nascent Soul Stage, were two cultivators in the Void Refinement Stage.

One was a middle-aged male cultivator situated at the early stages of the Void Refinement Realm.

The other was a lean young man whose presence was remarkably subdued, as though masked by some artifact. Song Wen could merely ascertain his cultivation was within the Void Refinement Stage; his precise level remained elusive.

"Junior Lei Yue pays respects to both seniors," Song Wen stated, offering a respectful bow.

The gaunt young man cast a cursory glance at Song Wen before dismissing him, his attention immediately drawn to Mi Man, who remained seated at the circular table.

He proceeded into the private chamber and approached Mi Man.

Having already noted the presence of the two Void Refinement Stage cultivators, Mi Man quickly stood and bowed in greeting.

"Greetings, seniors."

"No need for such formalities, little friend," the gaunt young man replied, his gaze intense as he examined Mi Man, almost as if attempting to see through her attire.

"Fairy Mi Man, Senior Lei Yue, this is our Fu Clan’s Patriarch, Fu Kaiyu," Fu Hongwen announced as he and the middle-aged cultivator entered the room.

The individual he introduced was none other than the middle-aged man standing beside him.

Fu Hongwen then proceeded to introduce the gaunt young man.

"This is our Fu Clan’s recently appointed Supreme Elder from an external branch, Daoist Jing Bei."

Song Wen suddenly recalled that following Fu Chengye's demise, the Fu Clan was left with only one cultivator at the Void Refinement Stage, Fu Kaiyu. Now, they had unexpectedly acquired a Supreme Elder from an outside lineage, whose cultivation appeared to surpass even Fu Kaiyu's own.

Why would the Fu Clan recruit someone whose cultivation exceeds their own Patriarch? Are they not concerned this outsider might challenge their authority and seize control of the clan?

"Greetings, Senior Jing Bei. Greetings, Senior Fu," Song Wen and Mi Man uttered in unison, bowing in deference.

"No need for such formalities, young friends," Daoist Jing Bei responded.

Fu Kaiyu also took a seat at the round table, his eyes similarly surveying Mi Man, though his examination was less overt than Jing Bei’s, carrying a subtle undertone of assessment.

"Fu Hongwen spoke of you, Fairy Mi Man, a renowned beauty from the Spirit Jade Palace. Now that I behold you in person, your charm is indeed extraordinary. It is no wonder my foolish nephew would squander the clan's resources and spirit stones, all in the pursuit of a single smile from such a captivating woman."

The visitor harbors sinister intentions!

This thought flashed through Song Wen and Mi Man’s minds almost simultaneously.

Song Wen, however, adopted a detached, almost amused demeanor, as if observing a theatrical performance.

Mi Man, conversely, felt an escalating sense of apprehension.
