Rebuilding the Immortal Cultivator Clan Chapter 1841 - 1389: Extermination (Part 2)

Previously on Rebuilding the Immortal Cultivator Clan...
The White Crane escaped with the Five Virtues Phoenix Blood Fruit after unleashing a powerful Ice Soul Divine Light that forced two Heavenly Immortals into a defensive stalemate. Disappointed by her lack of progress, Jiang Fengwu realized her cultivation had plateaued due to deficiencies in her Dao Heart. To break through her bottleneck, she took the extreme risk of sealing her immortal powers and physical strength to live as a mortal. Upon entering a nearby town to begin her "Red Dust Heart Refining," she found the streets filled with a deathly silence and the smell of decay. An anxious elderly woman pulled her into hiding, warning her of a mysterious threat involving the local Bai Family.

"The Bai Family?"

"Indeed!"

The elderly woman shivered as if gripped by a terrifying memory. "The Master of the Bai Family is afflicted by a strange malady," she whispered. "He cannot endure the light of day and shuns the sun, appearing only under the cover of darkness."

"This sickness has warped his mind, making him incredibly cruel. In the dead of night, he invades homes to lash the residents without mercy. He finds pleasure only in the sound of their agonizing screams."

"Does no one fight back?"

"The Bai Family Master possesses formidable martial prowess, and he is protected by a band of ruthless thugs. Who would dare oppose him?" The woman’s expression crumbled into grief as she choked back tears. "My own husband was tortured to death by his hand."

"If it is so terrible, why not flee?"

"Everything we own is rooted here. How could we possibly survive elsewhere?"

If they had a choice, anyone would flee a town where death loomed at every corner. However, these common folk lacked the skills necessary to sustain their families in the outside world.

Remaining here offered at least a slim hope of survival.

Jiang Fengwu fell into a thoughtful silence, her curiosity piqued. Was this truly a mere illness, or was there a connection to the Demonic Tao?

Clap... clap... clap...

Sudden applause shattered the stillness of the night.

While they had been speaking, the darkness had deepened completely. Without a sound, the Bai Family Master had arrived outside the small hut.

"A story well told!"

With a violent crash, the fragile wooden door was kicked into splinters.

A middle-aged man stepped inside. He was unnervingly gaunt, with skin as pale as death and hair and eyebrows as white as snow. Following closely behind him were dozens of muscular henchmen, their weapons shimmering with a murderous glint.

"How peculiar..."

Showing no sign of alarm, Jiang Fengwu moved to shield the old woman. She studied the Bai Family Master with a strange, discerning look.

"You aren't human!" she declared after a brief moment of observation.

The Bai Family Master’s eyes narrowed instantly, a fierce killing intent surging within them. "I had heard rumors of a female knight appearing when the city gates were barred," he said coldly, "but it seems your true identity is far from simple!"

In his many years here, he had encountered several practitioners, yet this was the first time someone had seen through his disguise. The revelation stoked the fires of murder in his heart.

"What insolence," Jiang Fengwu shouted with indignation. "An alien race dares to infiltrate human lands and slaughter innocent commoners at will. Today, your life ends here!"

She lunged forward like a released arrow, her blade flashing with a cold light as she struck at the Bai Family Master.

"Hah!"

The Bai Family Master let out a mocking laugh as he watched her approach. He had expected a much more powerful technique, but was this all she had? It seemed he had credited her with too much strength.

"I shall grant you a swift end; in your next life, remember not to interfere in matters that don't concern you."

As he spoke, he blurred into a white shadow, appearing instantly before Jiang Fengwu. His hands curved into claws, trailing a freezing aura as they lunged for her vitals.

Had he connected, she would have been flayed alive even if she survived the initial blow!

Fortunately, her agility was superior. With rapid reflexes, she barely managed to evade the strike.

Through this brief clash, Jiang Fengwu gauged his strength. He was roughly at the late stage of the Qi Cultivation Realm and belonged to the Ghost Clan. If he were a Foundation Establishment entity of the Ghost Clan, his techniques would be far more varied, and she wouldn't feel they were so evenly matched.

This realization allowed her to set aside any thought of breaking her seal. She would attempt to defeat this ghost using only her martial arts.

Whether it was because her martial skills were exceptional or the Bai Family Master's power was lacking, the two were locked in a stalemate. The combat was fierce, but since they were near the city wall in an open area, no houses were destroyed and no commoners were crushed by the fallout.

As the duel progressed, the Bai Family Master grew increasingly alarmed. He had never met a martial artist capable of standing against him!

How was this possible? He was a practitioner, yet he couldn't overcome a common warrior? It would be a humiliation to the entire world of Cultivation. Despite his efforts to turn the tide, his power was insufficient to overwhelm her.

However, he noted that her strikes did little real damage. His body was ethereal, and because Jiang Fengwu lacked mana, her sword could not truly wound him. He decided to play a game of attrition, waiting for her physical strength to fail so he could deliver the killing blow.

The Bai Family Master’s strategy was transparent; Jiang Fengwu saw through it immediately. Even without mana, she possessed ways to harm a member of the Ghost Clan!

Quietly, she began to circulate her inner power. A surge of Qi-Blood flowed through her, coating the steel of her sword until it glowed with a faint, crimson light.

"Ahhh!"

The Bai Family Master had dismissed the weapon, but when the blade cut through him this time, a searing heat tore through his frame, forcing a wretched scream from his throat.

"Impossible! How can a mere human wound my form?!" he cried out in shock. The arrogance in his eyes was replaced by sheer terror.

Jiang Fengwu offered no reply, her blade moving in a continuous blur as she sought to end the fight quickly.

"You have pushed me to this!"

Battered and fading, the Bai Family Master’s form became translucent under the moonlight. Fearing for his life, he abandoned all restraint. Ghostly energy erupted from him as he transformed into his true shape: a towering, monstrous figure with a blue face and jagged fangs.

This was his genuine appearance!

Roar—!

The Fierce Ghost let out a deafening howl, releasing clouds of thick, black ghostly energy that swirled toward Jiang Fengwu from every side.

"Ha!"

Gripping her sword, she braced her Dantian and let out a resonant, thunderous shout. Her voice, carrying the weight of her powerful Qi-Blood, exploded outward.

Sizzle!

Ghostly energy and Qi-Blood clashed in mid-air, the two forces grinding against one another in a struggle for dominance. Ultimately, Jiang Fengwu’s Qi-Blood proved superior. It overwhelmed the ghost energy, turning into a scorching heat that sought to envelop and incinerate the Bai Family Master.

Even though she had suppressed her mana, Sea of Consciousness, and physical might—causing her Qi-Blood to be a mere shadow of its true self—it remained far more potent than anything a Ghost Clan member at the Qi Cultivation Realm could withstand.
