Reborn in the Enemy's Embrace Chapter 414
Previously on Reborn in the Enemy's Embrace...
Xan gazed at the cluster of young women with curiosity, puzzled by their overwhelming arrogance. She mulled it over for quite a while, but still couldn't pinpoint the source of their boldness.
One from the bunch snapped, "How dare a fool like you think you're worthy of Timothy? Quit harassing him, got it?"
Xan kept staring at her with that same curious look.
Another girl chimed in, "Do you have any idea about Kiara's family background? Can yours even hold a candle to it? Sure, your brother's a genius, but you're from a plain family. Even if he studied abroad, he won't make it big. He'll end up employed by a conglomerate like Kiara's once he returns."
Xan rubbed her head, pondering if Ashton would take a job after coming back. Well, if he did work, he'd earn more to spoil her. She had zero interest in working herself.
"Did you damn well hear me?" The group's leader shoved her once more.
Xan lifted her gaze and stated, "Timothy's my boyfriend."
"What? Are you nuts? Timothy doesn't even fancy Kiara, let alone a fool like you? Sure, you're pretty, but you're dim-witted with a broke family—" the leader sneered.
Xan inquired earnestly, "Is Kiara's family super wealthy?"
A few young women scoffed, "Ever heard of Huma World Trade Center? It's the tallest icon in Huma, and her family's firm occupies the top floor!"
Xan simply replied, "But my dad told me that building is ours."
She was taken aback to learn Kiara's family rented space in one of her own family's properties.
The young women burst into mocking laughter. "What an idiot! I almost pity picking on her!"
One added, "Fine, pay attention, moron. We're giving you a lesson today. From now on, steer clear of Timothy. He's way out of your league." The leader swung her hand to strike Xan, but Xan dodged nimbly and repeated, "I can't promise that since Timothy's my boyfriend."
"You!" Furious, the leader tried kicking her. Xan sidestepped, sending the leader tumbling to the pavement.
Xan had vowed to Ashton not to kill fellow students, but injuring them without killing seemed fine.
A piercing scream rang out in the alley. The young women writhed on the ground in agony, though Xan hadn't laid a finger on them.
Her face grew grim; she despised the racket. "You're all so loud..."
Maybe killing them would be simpler.
"Xan!" Timothy and Kiara arrived right as Xan prepared to finish off the group.
"They're seriously hurt, Timothy. What's up with Xandra? Is she deranged?" Kiara feigned horror while hurling blame at Xan. "She's autistic, can't control herself? Does she intend to murder them too?"
Timothy shot her a frown and cautioned, "Mind your tongue."
He quickly drew Xan into his embrace and shielded her ears—a trick Ashton had shown him the night before to soothe her.
From the ground, the young women gawked at her in terror. "She... She's a maniac—"
Her moves struck them as brutally savage.
"Even if you're mentally unstable, you must answer for harming your classmates, Xandra. Your parents will cover the damages!" Kiara fumed.
Everyone assumed Xan's family was destitute. With their hefty medical bills, they expected to wring an apology from Dexter and Sophia.
"Just wait! I'll bankrupt your family for touching me!" The leader sobbed from the agony.
Timothy shot furious glares at the young women. "You lot started provoking her, right?"
"They picked the fight first," Xan murmured meekly, appearing as timid as a scared rabbit.
The wounded group was stunned by her sudden innocence. She came off more sly than stupid now.
"You gonna shield her, Timothy? My friends are injured!" Kiara gaped at Xan.
Timothy's face turned stormy. "Fine, call the cops then. You dragged her to this secluded spot alone, but claim she took on all six of you solo? Let's see if police buy that!"
While soothing Xan, he added, "Your constant yelling already terrifies her. How could she overpower six of you?"
Timothy obviously doubted them, suspecting they faked injuries to intimidate Xan. "Relax, I'll dial the police. They'll sort it out," he growled at the young women.
The girls were speechless. Beaten by a supposed idiot—all six. They wouldn't credit it themselves without living it.
Xan rested against Timothy's shoulder, a faint smile tugging her lips. Being guarded by her boyfriend felt worlds apart from her brother's protection.
Kiara assisted the leader, but she crumpled again with a yelp—her ankle grotesquely puffed.
Timothy phoned the police. They too struggled to accept that delicate Xan felled six others.
All six required hospitalization: three with cracked ribs, one with a snapped leg, two nursing broken noses.
"What happened in that alley? No cameras around. How'd you end up like this?" The police marveled.
Each bore fractures and beating marks, yet Xan couldn't have managed it alone.
"Tell the truth—did you fight each other?" Suspecting infighting made sense.
"She attacked us!" they chorused, jabbing fingers at Xan.
Xan denied nothing, just huddled behind Timothy.
"That doesn't add up!" the police snapped, irritated.
None of the six were pushovers. They seemed set on framing the autistic Xan for the assault.
Xan blinked, snuggling deeper into Timothy's hold. His heartbeat lulled her, easing her mind.
No surprise Sophia loved nestling against Dexter for his heartbeat—it hushed the chaos, she'd said.
"What's happening?" The six girls' parents crowded the hospital corridor. Kiara had summoned her dad too.
"Relax, my father's here," she assured her pals. "He brought his legal squad."
"Timothy, your ties to Mr. Coleman of Coleman Group are distant—your dad’s just his cousin. That empire isn't yours, so butt out," the leader menaced.
"Xan!" Sophia and Dexter hurried in after the alert.
Sophia ignored everyone else's fate—she cared only for Xan.
Xan, nestled in Timothy's arms, shook her head at Sophia.
Sophia's spirits sank. Timothy sensed her blazing rage through her stare.
"Mrs. Black, Xan and I—" he began.
"They began it, Mom," Xan whispered.
Sophia swatted Timothy's arms off Xan. Facing the enraged parents, she demanded, "Your kids ambushed mine. How do we settle this?"
Settling amicably was ideal. Or else, injuries might follow.
