Lyu Juncheng visited Yu Xinyan in the hospital during lunch, feigning concern over his son's accidental injury. Sister Tian brought a hearty meal and urged the couple to reconcile before leaving them alone. Yu Xinyan, seeing through his pretense and subtle push for early discharge, claimed ongoing dizziness and nausea to frustrate him. After he departed irritated, she opened the appealing lunch box filled with meat dishes and rice.

She sipped the warm water from the enamel cup on the cabinet and polished off the meal in the aluminum lunchbox.

Right now, nothing mattered more than restoring her health, so she could plan her next moves with a clear mind.

Contemplating the challenges ahead, she drew in a deep breath and released a heavy sigh. Heaven had granted her this second opportunity, and she vowed to live it to the fullest.

Let anyone who wishes to serve as a free nanny step right up.

April 1978 had arrived, with the college entrance exam reinstated just the previous year. In her former life, university had been her burning desire, but marriage to Lyu Juncheng plunged her into endless chaos—where could she squeeze in time or energy for studying?

Though she eventually tackled adult education via self-study and picked up English for survival reasons, those efforts couldn't erase the deep regret of skipping the college entrance exam.

No force in this world would block her university dreams now.

Lost in thoughts while reclining on the bed, she drifted into sleep without intending to.

Awake once more, she spotted Sister Tian seated beside the bed.

Noticing her eyes open, Sister Tian rose to pour half a cup of warm water and inquired with a grin, "Feeling any better?"

Yu Xinyan pushed herself upright: "Dizziness has faded quite a bit, but pain strikes with every movement. When did you arrive, Sister Tian?"

Sister Tian steadied her: "Got here moments ago, wrapped up my household tasks and came to check on you, here, have some water."

Accepting the enamel cup from Sister Tian, Yu Xinyan felt somewhat sheepish and remarked, "Sister Tian, with so much going on at everyone's homes, I've imposed on you far too much. I can handle things myself; please go tend to your duties."

Sister Tian hadn't been eager to visit; Lyu Juncheng had dispatched her to urge Yu Xinyan toward an early discharge for childcare duties. She deemed him overly hasty, yet the three Lyu Family children did require attention, prompting her agreement.

Sister Tian had a ready excuse, gesturing toward the aluminum lunchbox on the nightstand with a smile, "No bother at all. I came to retrieve the lunchbox anyway. What would I carry dinner in otherwise?"

Yu Xinyan sipped from the enamel cup: "Thank you, Sister Tian, for the extra trouble."

Sister Tian brushed it aside: "As neighbors, aiding each other is natural. And if I need help down the line, surely you'd assist, right?"

Yu Xinyan smiled at Sister Tian yet held her tongue. This rebirth meant no future with Lyu Juncheng, leaving her unable to commit.

Sister Tian missed the subtle shift in her face and carried on, "Factory production quotas are crushing now; Jun Cheng's swamped lately. You should recover fast. Men thrive at work only without home distractions, don't they?"

At those words, Yu Xinyan saw Sister Tian for the mouthpiece she was. Lyu Juncheng truly knew how to pull strings.

Raising her eyes, she flashed Sister Tian a faint smile: "Poor health leaves me unable to tend to those three kids. You're correct; I'll heal up quickly. Apologies for the inconvenience."

But she flatly refused to voice, ’Get discharged soon and care for the children.’

Sister Tian couldn't press too bluntly either; close neighbors needed to maintain harmony ahead. Better not sour relations too soon.

After more light conversation, with evening approaching, Sister Tian stood smiling and said, "Rest easy now. I'll head home to prepare dinner and return shortly."
