The He family prepares to travel to Beijing for his third brother's wedding. Along the way, they encounter neighbors and eventually board a bus and train. Meanwhile, He Yuejin and his wife Guo Yueyue wait for them, discussing the Second Brother and his wife's potential ulterior motives for attending. Guo Yueyue reveals they learned the Second Brother and his wife plan to borrow money from the Third Brother for a new business venture.

He Jiefang noticed his younger brother and sister-in-law from afar, their child in tow. He quickened his steps, drawing nearer. "Yuejin, sister-in-law, have you been waiting for a long time?"

He Yuejin glanced back at the rest of the He family who were following. "We were just worried about missing our train, so we left a little earlier."

Since He Yuejin had already secured the tickets in advance, everyone could simply proceed into the station and await their departure.

Guo Yueyue leaned in toward Sister He. "Sister He."

Wang Erni reached out and gently pinched the cheek of He Yuanyuan, who was nestled in Guo Yueyue's arms. "Our Yuanyuan is growing so pretty. Just look at this soft little face."

He Yuanyuan offered a shy smile to her aunt before snuggling back into her mother’s embrace.

Mr. He checked the large clock displayed in the station. "It's getting late. Since everyone has arrived, let's head inside to wait."

Not long after they entered, the announcement for the train's arrival echoed, and they joined the throng of passengers to board.

To conserve funds, they had all opted for hard seats. However, being a large group, they managed to occupy four rows of three seats, avoiding the need to mingle with other passengers. The comfort of being surrounded by family provided a sense of security and warmth.

The older children were engaged in lively conversation throughout the journey; they had eagerly anticipated this trip to Beijing.

The previous visit, for their uncle and aunt's engagement ceremony, had been met with great warmth from the couple. Their aunt had even encouraged them to study diligently, expressing her welcome for them to attend university in Beijing.

As noon approached, individuals began to unpack their homemade meals for lunch. Later, some railway staff made their way through the carriage, pushing trolleys laden with boxed meals available for purchase.

Sister He, Wang Erni, looked over at her children. "Are you hungry?"

Du Xubei nodded her head. "I wasn't feeling it earlier, but now that you mention it, I am quite hungry."

Wang Erni turned to her husband. "Jiefang, please take down the bag with our food."

Once the bag was retrieved, Wang Erni distributed the steamed mixed-grain buns, prepared that morning, to her parents-in-law, then to her three children and husband. Finally, she produced the water bottles He Jiefang had filled earlier, poured some into the empty canned jars they'd brought, and placed them before everyone.

Guo Yueyue also retrieved some pancakes from her luggage, passing a portion to He Yuejin. "Share some with Mom and Dad, let them try."

He Yuejin accepted them with a smile, stood up, and offered them to the seats behind. "Mom, Dad, these are the pancakes Yueyue made this morning; please have some."

Mother He didn't decline. "Eldest daughter-in-law, give two of our buns to your fifth brother."

Wang Erni, without hesitation, took two buns from the bag and passed them over.

He Yuejin waved her off. "Yueyue made plenty of pancakes; there’s enough to eat."

Ignoring his words, Wang Erni placed the buns on top of their food bag. "Pancakes aren't as soft as these buns. Let Yuanyuan eat these; they are easier to digest."

Upon hearing this, Guo Yueyue chimed in, "Then thank you, Sister He."

Wang Erni, seeing they had accepted, replied, "Oh, there's no need to be so polite."

At that moment, Gao Yumei, seated nearby, addressed Mother He. "Mom, we got up late this morning and didn't have time to prepare food for the journey. I see you've brought quite a bit; could you spare us some?"

Hearing this, the entire He family turned their attention to her.

He Jiahui, from the second branch of the family, questioned her mother, "Mom, you didn't bring any food?"

Gao Yumei touched her nose somewhat awkwardly. "Well, because we woke up late, we ran out of time to prepare. It’s alright; with Grandpa and Grandma here, you certainly won’t go hungry."

Wang Erni was displeased by these words but, with her parents-in-law present, refrained from speaking out immediately.

Mr. He, overhearing the conversation, showed his displeasure. "Second son, didn't I remind you all a few days ago?"

He Jian Country shot a glare at Gao Yumei and explained, "Perhaps because we were so excited about heading to Beijing, we got carried away last night and overslept this morning, leaving us no time to prepare."

Mr. He turned a stern gaze toward his eldest daughter-in-law, understanding the strained relationship between the two families, and didn't press further. However, seeing the two grandchildren from the second household looking at him expectantly, he passed them the pancakes his fifth son had gifted. "Eat up. If it’s not enough, your father can purchase some boxed meals for you."

Gao Yumei started to speak again but was silenced by a pointed look from her father-in-law.

Mr. He, feeling a mix of disappointment and anger, fixed his gaze on his second son, thinking, "They can't let go of their petty tricks even now. If you didn't bring food, you should have let your couple go hungry."
