Reborn in the 80s: The Smart Wife with a Secret Space Chapter 1: Reborn
"Jun Cheng’s wife, you’re awake?"
Pain surged through every part of Xinyan. Right as her eyes opened, a voice nearby asked that question.
The view in front of her startled her badly; hadn't she tracked down that scum Lyu Juncheng after uncovering her infertility secret, only to get shoved down the stairs by him?
Yet what was happening now? What place was this?
She twisted her head to spot the speaker, but the sudden motion brought a dizzy spell crashing over her, nearly knocking her out cold.
On reflex, her eyes shut tight. The woman next to her spoke up once more, "Jun Cheng’s wife, are you alright?"
That voice rang familiar bells, yet she couldn't place it.
Still, Xinyan sensed the genuine worry in the tone, so she fought through the vertigo and answered with eyes still closed, "I’m fine, just a bit dizzy."
"Stay put, I’ll fetch the doctor right away."
Xinyan meant to reply that it wasn't necessary, she'd recover in a bit.
But footsteps already pounded away as the person dashed out.
Once steadied, Xinyan cautiously opened her eyes. The clear view of her environment left her dumbfounded.
Without thinking, she lifted a hand to rub her eyes, questioning her vision: the mishap wasn't downtown, but surely they wouldn't haul her to this shabby spot for care?
Then her gaze fell on the soft but roughened hand in front of her, jolting her once more.
Just as she started to prop herself up for a better look, approaching footsteps echoed from outside.
Moments later, a voice called from the doorway: "Doctor Li, come check her out quick, she’s awake now, but Jun Cheng’s wife feels dizzy."
The doctor hurried in and noted Xinyan’s open eyes: "How are you feeling? Any discomfort besides the dizziness?"
Once she made out the doctor's features, Xinyan’s shock deepened. Drawing a steadying breath, she worked to hide her reaction: "Just dizzy, though it’s easing up some."
Doctor Li completed his check-up, sympathy flickering in his gaze: "You took a knock to the head, so the dizziness makes sense. Take it easy for a few days, and you’ll recover fine—no need to fret."
With a handful of basic tips, the doctor departed.
Confusion swirled in Xinyan’s head, but back in her previous life, she’d devoured countless rebirth and transmigration stories to distract from her misery. Was this rebirth happening to her?
From the current setup, it looked like she’d gone back to the moment her stepson Lyu Xiangyang shoved her down the stairs in the Mechanical Factory’s family quarters.
"Jun Cheng’s wife, that kid Xiangyang got egged on by someone else, don’t let it get to you."
Xinyan’s thoughts churned wildly, but recognition finally hit about the woman—though she feigned ignorance: "Who are you?"
The woman gave a plain, honest grin: "My husband, Old Tian, works as a team leader in No. 3 workshop alongside your Lyu Juncheng. Factory duties are crushing, so he couldn’t get off work; he asked me to watch over you awhile. Call me Sister Tian."
Xinyan scoffed inside: “Couldn’t get leave”—yeah, right, that jerk’s likely fib.
At the moment, though, she lacked the energy for that: "Sister Tian, dizziness lingers, I need more rest."
Assuming Xinyan still fumed over her stepson, Sister Tian said, "Alright, rest up then. I’ll head home to cook and bring some food by later."
Xinyan expressed her thanks before shutting her eyes.
With the woman gone, Xinyan fully unwound at last. Thoughts of that scum Lyu Juncheng and his thankless stepsons and stepdaughters boiled her blood—she yearned to rip them apart.
