Reborn As Noble Chapter 1485: A Cruel Smile and a Twisted Story ( 1485 )

Meanwhile.
Falce and the others were running away from the war zone, their breaths ragged as they pushed through the chaos. Falce used her buff skills to enhance her party members’ speed and stamina, while the others wielded their weapons to deflect incoming threats; flintlock musket bullets whizzing past, explosive arrows raining down, and the occasional stray fireball.
They finally reached the dense forest, their footsteps slowing as they pushed deeper into the relative safety of the trees. Panting heavily, they stopped behind a cluster of thick, moss-covered trees, catching their breath. Falce glanced around, her eyes sharp, before noticing Rasya standing a little apart, her expression distant and troubled.
"Rasya?"
"Yes, Falce?"
Falce walked over, her voice low but firm. "What are you thinking about?"
Rasya glanced at her, then at the others, her expression uneasy. "Nothing... it’s just... we left Fayna behind."
She paused, her voice dropping to a whisper. "What are we going to tell Vice Leader Vane when he asks where she is?"
Everyone fell silent for a long moment. Then Falce let out a dark chuckle, a cruel smile twisting her lips.
"We tell him we were ambushed. That the enemy hit us without warning, their mages unleashing spells before we could even react. Fayna was caught in the blast, trapped under the rubble. We tried to save her, but we were surrounded by Armand soldiers. We tried to fight back, but Armand’s forces were too many. We tried and tried, but failed to save her. So we had no choice but to retreat and wait for a chance to save her later."
She leaned in closer, her eyes glinting with malice.
"We tell him Armand’s forces are cruel, sadistic monsters. They dragged her out of the rubble, accused her of being a spy. They tortured her, made her scream, made her beg for mercy before they executed her in the square by burning her alive. They laughed at her screams, pouring their liquor to make the fire burn hotter. They made a spectacle of her death, a warning to anyone who dared to oppose Armand."
Falce’s smile widened, cold and merciless.
"And we tell him we could only watch from a distance, helpless, unable to do anything. We tell him we barely escaped with our own lives, that if we had stayed even a moment longer, we would have been captured or killed too. We tell him we’re lucky to be alive, and that we’ll avenge Fayna when the time comes."
Rasya looked away, her jaw tight, her voice barely above a whisper. "And if he wants proof?"
Falce let out a dismissive snort, waving her hand lazily.
"There’s no way he would ask for proof. Remember, we were sent by him to gather intel on Armand. He knows how dangerous this mission is. We’re deep in enemy territory, surrounded by hostile forces, with no backup and no way to contact anyone outside our group. Casualties are expected. Losing someone is just part of the mission."
She crossed her arms, her smirk deepening.
"That’s why I said we blame Armand. It’s the perfect story. No one will question it. He has no reason to doubt us. And even if he does, we’ll just go to our Supreme Leader Julius. We all know Vane can do nothing against his best friend. And our handsome Julius is far stronger than all the summoned heroes combined. Besides, what can Vane do?"
She tilted her head, her voice dripping with cold satisfaction.
"Leave his position just to search for one girl? And make our Supreme Goddess Zeyrinda furious with him for abandoning his duties? She would strip him of his power. Humiliate him in front of the entire order, and brand him a traitor to the cause. He’ll have no choice but to believe us. Fayna’s death will be just another tragedy of war, another reason to hate Armand even more."
She let out a soft, mocking laugh, her eyes gleaming with self-satisfaction.
"By the time anyone thinks to question it, the war will have moved on. And we’ll be too valuable to punish. After all, we’re the ones who risked everything to bring back vital information about Armand’s cruelty. The Supreme Leader will reward us. He’ll see our loyalty, our sacrifice, our pain. And he’ll love us even more for it."
Falce smirked, crossing her arms as she gave them a challenging look.
"But~ if you all want to go and save her now~ be my guest. If she’s still alive~ Just don’t forget, you’ll all be blamed later. She knows we abandoned her. And if she’s already dead, you’ll be the ones carrying her rotting corpse all the way back to Amazarak."
She paused, letting the weight of her words sink in before continuing, her voice laced with cold calculation.
"The journey would take days, maybe a week or more, through war-torn territory, with enemy patrols everywhere. And for what? To bring back a dead weight that will only slow you down and put the rest of us at risk?"
She let her gaze sweep over them, one by one, her eyes cold and calculating.
"So go ahead. Be heroes. Waste your time and energy on someone who’s probably already dead. But don’t expect me to wait for you. And don’t expect me to share the blame when Vane asks. You are on your own."
She glanced back toward the distant sounds of explosions, a subtle, mocking smile playing on her lips.
"Anyone who wants to stay and dig through the rubble for Fayna can take all the blame later. As for me... I’m leaving this area. The humans are at war, and it has nothing to do with me. We already got the intel we need."
Everyone glanced at each other before dark smirks spread across their faces. Falce turned and began walking away, her steps light and unhurried. The others followed without a second glance back, their footsteps crunching over the fallen leaves as they disappeared deeper into the forest.
Finally~
She’s dead~
A cold, euphoric satisfaction bubbled up inside Falce as she walked, her lips curling into a private smile.
I was waiting for this opportunity~ For so long~ And now~
That bitch is finally gone. Julius always had his eyes on her. Always watching her. Always her!
It made me sick. What did she have that I don’t?
I’m prettier than her. My body is better. My skills are sharper. I’ve trained harder, fought harder, done everything to earn his attention.
Her jaw tightened, her nails digging into her palms.
It was unbearable. Watching her exist, watching her breathe, knowing that as long as she was alive, I would never be enough for him. But now... now she’s gone. Burned, broken, forgotten. No one will mourn her. No one will even remember her name by the time I’m done.
She let out a soft, breathy laugh, her eyes gleaming with dark delight.
Goodbye, Fayna. You were nothing but an obstacle. And now... you’re nothing at all.
Enjoy whatever hell you’ve been dragged to~
