Reborn As Noble Chapter 1454: A Missing Hand and a Sealed Wound ( 1454 )
Previously on Reborn As Noble...
Meanwhile.
Vurghen Region.
The Last Town.
The two forces of two hundred pekko riders, who had split earlier, charged toward the east and west flanks, each facing over five hundred heavy cavalry magic knights clad in enchanted armor. The riders drew their magic swords, tapped their bracelets, and shimmering magic shields materialized around them.
The pekkos accelerated in a blur, their talons raised as they leaped forward. Before the enemy could react, the pekkos launched wind slashes, sharp blades of air cutting through the heavy armor and horses with terrifying ease, shredding the enemy ranks into pieces.
Meanwhile, Javier, with Gracelle clinging to his back, her arms wrapped tightly around him in a dreamy smile, glanced over his shoulder. He had already cast his Ultimate Barrier skill over both of them, a shimmering field of protection that hummed softly in the air.
Buddy squawked in excitement, charging toward the enemy with a confident smirk on his beak. As he ran at blinding speed, he unleashed wind skills, slicing through soldiers and horses alike with effortless grace.
"Hold on tight, Gracelle."
"Mm... I won’t let you go, my handsome husband~ Ah~" Gracelle nuzzled his back, her voice soft and dreamy. "I can finally hug my handsome dream prince~"
Javier smiled, tapping his mana talkie while aiming his mana gun and firing at the charging enemy. His two hundred pekko riders behind him opened fire with their assault mana rifles, mowing down the remaining enemy forces with precise, devastating volleys.
Javier’s voice crackled through the mana talkie, calm and commanding.
"I’ll lead my unit and charge straight into the town. The two forces providing cover fire on the battlements will continue suppressing the enemy until the other two units confirm the flanks are clear. Once that’s done, all units converge and follow me in."
He paused, his voice turning cold and firm.
"Leave no betrayer or enemy alive. Father’s orders are absolute. No prisoners of war."
"Yes, Your Highness!" The voices of his officers echoed through the channel, sharp and resolute.
"Buddy! Crush the main gate!"
"Cuquawked!!" Buddy let out a fierce squawk, a swirling wind ball materializing in front of him as he charged at full speed. He launched it forward, the compressed air slamming into the massive reinforced gate with explosive force, shattering it into splinters and twisted metal.
Javier led his forces through the breach, dual mana guns in hand, firing precise shots at the enemy while Buddy unleashed wind slashes that carved through the ranks. Javier’s voice rang out through the mana talkie.
"Engage only the enemy! Do not harm civilians!"
"Understood, Your Highness!!!"
The pekko riders moved in a blur, their speed overwhelming the enemy. The heavy magic knights, who had formed a turtle formation, were crushed before they could react, their enchanted shields and armor no match for the sheer momentum of the pekkos. The riders followed up with precise shots, leaving no one alive. Small squads split off, searching for any enemy hiding in the town.
Meanwhile, in the distance.
Guranjar ran alongside Kurashan, who clutched the stump of his lost left hand, groaning in agony. Kurashan glared at Guranjar, his voice strained with pain.
"Can’t you do something to ease my pain, you old idiot!?"
"I’ll do it after we leave this place, asshole! Now where’s your carriage!?"
"Hell if I know!!" Kurashan’s eyes darted around frantically before the sound of the main gate being crushed echoed through the town. His face paled. "Shit! The Armand are here! Where the hell is your carriage!? We’ll use that!"
"Through here!"
"Faster, dammit!"
"I’m going as fast as I can, you shithead!"
They arrived at the carriage, where the soldiers, already wary after hearing the explosion, gripped their weapons. The moment they saw their commander Kurashan and the Grand Mage Guranjar running toward them, one of the soldiers jumped onto the coachman’s seat, readying the reins.
"Ready the carriage!!" Kurashan shouted.
"Yes, Commander!!"
Kurashan and Guranjar rushed to climb aboard. Kurashan barked orders as he scrambled up. "Go! Go! We need to leave this place! Everyone, retreat!!"
The other soldiers climbed onto their horses, flintlock pistols in hand, before snapping the reins and following the carriage in a frantic rush.
Kurashan gritted his jaw, clutching his wounded arm as Guranjar extended his palm toward the stump, channeling healing magic to close the wound and stop the bleeding.
"Damn it! We need to tell Lord Zurakan that Gerhardt’s last surviving son is asking Armand for help! Shit! Shit, shit! Arghhh!"
Guranjar narrowed his eyes after the wound was closed, the flesh sealed and no longer bleeding. He hissed, his voice dripping with frustration.
"I don’t know who that was, but I’m sure he’s stronger than Marcellus. Shit! Armand has too many prodigies!" He glared at Kurashan, his voice turning venomous. "That’s why I told you not to talk big before the war, but you ignored my advice, you piece of shit!"
Kurashan glared at Guranjar, his voice sharp with accusation. "You also talked big about your magic and your mage unit! Look what happened to us now! Your ’inescapable’ swamp became a pekko pool, and your ’ultimate’ Meteor Shower did nothing but burn an empty field!"
Guranjar shouted back, his face red with fury. "At least I didn’t brag about my armor being invincible after surviving one shot from a regular bullet! You were so confident, strutting around like a peacock, and look at you now, missing a hand!"
"It was glowing! I thought that was Armand’s so-called mana rifle, asshole!"
Guranjar gritted his teeth as he caught sight of the main gate in the distance. "Lord Zurakan will not be pleased when he hears about this!"
"Ugh! We’ll find some excuse to tell our lord! Now focus on getting us out of here!" Kurashan turned and shouted toward the soldier driving the carriage. "Faster, you piece of crap!"
"Yes, Commander!" The soldier snapped the reins, urging the horses to pull the carriage faster. Kurashan glanced back, his face paling as he saw more of their soldiers falling on top of the battlement in the distance.
"Fuckkkk!"
Kurashan shouted in rage as their carriage passed through the gate, more soldiers following behind them in a frantic rush. Every soldier who hadn’t yet engaged the Armand forces climbed onto their horses and fled, desperate to escape the slaughter.
"Just one more town and I would have succeeded in conquering Vurghen! I was so close to my reward!"
Guranjar raised his hand, channeling his strongest barrier around their carriage before glancing at Kurashan, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Yeah right. Reward."
"Just so you know, I’m the one who led the army to conquer the majority of Vurghen’s land!"
"With my help and my mage unit, asshole!" Guranjar shot back, his eyes narrowed. "You wouldn’t have taken a single village without my mages reinforcing your troops and breaking their defenses!"
