Javier and his brother Heres discuss their father's unusual mission assignment. They arrive at the northern border town, where Javier hands Heres a document outlining terms for a household's submission to Armand. Javier then briefs Hesbeirn and Gilmon on the mission to secure towns, emphasizing mobility, intelligence, and a ruthless approach to traitors, with no survivors.

Vurghen Region.

Inside the last town.

The streets were filled with despair. The townspeople were being forced into lines, their hands bound with glowing magic ropes. Men were separated from women and children, their faces etched with fear and hopelessness. The coalition army soldiers stood around them, their eyes cold and predatory.

Some soldiers harassed the women as they shuffled past, grabbing at their clothes, sniffing their hair, and muttering filthy words under their breath. A child cried, tugging at his mother’s skirt, and a soldier shoved him harshly to the ground before kicking him aside. The mother screamed, but another soldier grabbed her arm, yanking her back into line.

The commander, a burly man with a scarred face and a cruel grin, stood near the front of the line. He reached out, grabbing one of the girls who was moving too slowly, his hand groping her body as he pulled her close.

"Well, well~ What do we have here?" He licked his lips, his grin widening. "Didn’t expect to find a beauty like you in this shithole of a town. That face, those tits, this tight little body... mm~ A girl like you deserves a real man. Someone who knows how to break in a fresh cunt properly. I think I’ll keep you for myself. Chain you to my bedpost and fuck you raw every night until you learn to moan my name like a good little whore."

The girl gritted her jaw before turning her head and spitting directly into his face.

"You should look in a mirror first, you ugly, pig-faced bastard. Even a starving orc in heat wouldn’t touch your rotten, maggot-infested cock."

The commander’s grin vanished. His hand shot out, slapping her hard across the cheek, sending her stumbling. He grabbed her hair, yanking her head back, and unsheathed his blade in a flash.

"You filthy little bitch! You think you’re special? You’re nothing but a warm hole to dump my seed into. You should feel lucky I even bothered to look at you! I could kill you right here and now, and no one would give a damn! You’re nothing but a worthless peasant whore!"

Just as he was about to bring the blade down, the sound of rushing footsteps echoed from the distance.

"Commander!! Commander!!"

A soldier came running, his boots pounding against the road.

The commander gritted his teeth, glancing at the girl before his eyes snapped to his soldier.

"What!? Can’t you see I’m busy here!?"

The soldier stopped and saluted, panting heavily before explaining.

"Our scouts at the battlements spotted the Armand Army advancing toward the border!"

The commander smirked, his cruel eyes gleaming with anticipation. He slammed the girl to the ground, knocking her unconscious, before turning his gaze toward the nearby soldiers.

"This one will be my feast after we deal with these Armand bastards. Take her to our forward base at the northeast town. Keep her chained and ready for me."

"As you command, Commander!" The soldiers saluted before dragging the unconscious girl toward a nearby carriage, tying her hands and feet with glowing magic ropes.

The commander turned and clasped both hands behind his back, addressing the panting soldier.

"What’s their estimated total, and what unit are they?"

The soldier straightened. "Our scouts reported around a thousand, Commander. All riding those huge monster birds. They’re wearing strange black armor."

The commander smirked, a flicker of confidence crossing his face.

"Ah~ The Pekko Rider Unit. One of the fastest and strongest units Armand has." He turned toward his nearby subordinate. "Call our Grand Mages unit. Tell Captain Jakon to prepare his heavy infantry unit and Magic Knight units. It’s time we show them we are no longer the same weak noble army from years ago."

He turned back to the soldier. "Go to Captain Sakair. Tell him to prepare the Magic Archer unit on the battlements, and ready our cannoneer unit and Magic Musketeer unit."

"Yes, Commander!"

After the soldier left, the commander began walking with a confident stride, followed closely by several soldiers behind him.

"Ah~"

He let out a low, satisfied sigh, his voice dripping with arrogance.

"Can’t wait to show those bastards that Lord Zurakan’s new army is far stronger than before. Our coalition army may have lost twice in major wars against Armand in the past, but this time... this time it will be different."

A cold smirk spread across his lips.

With the new weapons Lord Zurakan bought from King Klimar. Those new magic-enchanted flintlock muskets combines our improved training methods, we’ve completely transformed our forces. But that’s not all. Lord Zurakan has been hiding a secret project from the rest of the Human Nation.

A project that allowed us to recruit and train far more mages than any other noble house. For years, our research division has been studying ancient artifacts recovered from the ruins of the old empire. Through dedicated work, they’ve learned to unravel the enchantments woven into those relics, decipher their construction, and reproduce them for our mages to wield in battle.

We’ve also developed new training regimens that combine magic, mana control, natural talent, and these advanced magical tools, allowing us to field more mages than ever before.

Those old-school mages like Garius’s two prodigy sons, Marcellus and Cedric, are no longer a match for our Grand Mages and their units. Our mages are trained in coordinated formations and devastating combined spells that can tear through conventional armies like paper. We’ve studied Armand’s past victories, analyzed their weaknesses, and developed countermeasures specifically designed to neutralize their advantages.

This time, when we face Armand on the battlefield, they won’t be facing the same weak noble army they crushed before. They’ll be facing a new, stronger force, equipped with the best weapons and magic our region can produce. And we will show them that their time of dominance is over.

The commander and his soldiers arrived at the bottom of the battlement, where his captains saluted and the Grand Mage leader stood waiting, calmly rubbing his long beard.

"Guranjar?"

"Yes, Kurashan?" The Grand Mage leader, Guranjar, stood with one hand behind his back and the other stroking his beard, his eyes sharp and calculating.

"Make sure your mages are ready to assist the archers and defenders on top of the battlement."

"Hmmph! You don’t need to tell me twice." Guranjar’s voice carried a hint of arrogance. "But do tell me, Kurashan. Are those two so-called prodigies, the ones holding the titles of ’Strongest Wizard in the Continent’ and ’The Strongest Paladin,’ leading the Armand forces?"

Kurashan let out a grunt, his expression shifting into annoyance. "Huh? How would I know? I just arrived here. Why are you so obsessed with facing those two anyway? Every time we deploy, it’s the same thing with you. ’Where are the prodigies? Are they here? I want to crush them.’ Give it a rest already."

He turned away before Guranjar could retort, facing his two captains.

"Jakon?"

The broad-shouldered captain straightened. "Yes, Commander?"

"Make sure the heavy Magic Knight unit is ready to defend our archers and mages. I want those new tower shields locked in formation the moment the enemy starts their charge. Not a single arrow or spell gets through. Understood?"

Jakon slammed a fist against his chest plate. "Understood, Commander!"

"And Sakair?"

The lean captain stepped forward. "Yes, Commander?"

"Position our Magic Musketeer unit behind the shield line. I want volley fire the second those riders enter range. And have the cannoneer unit focus their fire on those creepy huge birds. Take down their mounts, and the riders become useless. A pekko rider without his dumb big bird is just a corpse waiting to hit the ground."

Sakair nodded sharply. "Understood, Commander!"

"Good." Kurashan smirked, turning toward the stone stairway leading up to the top of the battlement. He climbed with slow, deliberate steps, his boots echoing against the worn stone. Just before reaching the top, he paused, glancing back over his shoulder with a confident smirk.

"Let’s show these bastards their graveyard."
