Reborn As Noble Chapter 1360: Flames, Ice, and Instincts ( 1360 )
Previously on Reborn As Noble...
For a moment, everything froze.
Celine’s eyes widened in shock, her body stiffening as she felt his hands on her chest and his lips pressed against hers.
Javier’s mind went blank, his disguise forgotten as he registered the softness beneath his palms and the warmth of her lips against his.
Alkan rubbed his head, wincing as he opened his eyes, only to freeze at the scene before him. The girl chasing him stopped beside him, her hands on her hips as she scolded him.
"I already warned you, Alkan! Don’t run too fast! You didn’t lis... ah..."
Her voice trailed off as she took in the sight. Her cheeks flushed red, and she bit her lower lip, her eyes wide with embarrassment.
Alkan scrambled to his feet, grabbed the girl’s hand, and both of them bowed frantically.
"We’re sorry!" they shouted in unison before turning and sprinting away, disappearing into the crowd.
Lyzia had quickly crossed her arms over her chest, covering her breasts as she gave Javier a sharp, knowing look at Javier, who was scrambling to put distance between himself and Celine.
Her gaze sharpened, and she leaned in slightly, her voice dropping to a low mumble.
"Awawa... I nearly got pregnant by my own brother-in-law."
"Huh!?" Javier’s eyes widened in panic, his face flushing red. "That was just an accident! And that’s not how it works! A kiss and a... a grope won’t get anyone pregnant!"
Meanwhile, Celine slowly sat up, her eyes wide and lifeless, staring blankly ahead. She curled her knees to her chest, wrapping her arms around them as she mumbled softly under her breath.
"Pregnant... pregnant... pregnant..."
Her voice trembled, and she bit her lower lip hard, her shoulders shaking as she began sobbing softly, her face buried in her knees.
"I... I can no longer marry anyone now... I’m ruined..."
Javier glanced at Celine, who was still curled up and sobbing, before snapping into full panic mode. He reached out, placing both hands on her shoulders and shook her gently.
"Hey! You’re not going to get pregnant just from that! I swear! It was just an accident! That’s all! You’re fine!"
But Celine only sobbed harder, burying her face deeper into her knees.
Lyzia slowly took a step back, a sly, mischievous grin spreading across her face. She reached behind her back and pulled out her personal mana talkie, a small, cute, slightly spherical device, custom-made and nothing like the standard clunky mana-talkie style used by others.
She held it up, her thumb hovering over the button.
"Oho~ I’m going to report this to Liana~"
"Eh? Noooo!" Javier scrambled, dropping to his knees and crawling toward Lyzia, his hands clasped together in desperation. "It was all a misunderstanding! You know that! It wasn’t even my fault! That kid...!"
Lyzia’s sly smile widened into a full, mischievous grin. She turned and sprinted away, pressing the button on her mana talkie as she shouted into it.
"Liana! Liana! Something interesting just happened!"
"Eeekkkkk! Ugh!" Javier’s hand extended uselessly toward her retreating figure before he let it drop to the ground in defeat. He let out a long, weary exhale, his forehead resting against the dirt.
Everything is a mess... Liana is going to be furious about this...
Javier, still in his beggar disguise, turned and glanced at Celine, who was still curled up, her voice trembling as she mumbled to herself.
"My first kiss... with a commoner... a beggar... and he... he groped my breast... my brother is going to tease me nonstop about this... sob... sob..."
Ah... how am I going to calm her down?
Damn... it was that kid’s fault, but I can’t blame him either. He was just playing.
Now I just have to find a way to settle this. First, make her calm down.
But how?
Just as he was about to move toward Celine, his instincts screamed. He spun around, his eyes widening as he saw two figures leaping toward him, one wielding a flaming sword, the other an icy blade.
Jiowana’s voice rang out, harsh and furious. "How dare you lay your filthy hands on our princess, you worthless scum!"
Ashara’s eyes burned with rage as she swung her ice sword. "The punishment for defiling our princess is death!"
Javier gritted his teeth, his voice sharp as he shouted at them. "Oi! You shouldn’t use magic attacks in public!"
The two swords descended, their edges crackling with power.
Shit!
Are these two idiots insane?!
Look around! There are children everywhere! Innocent bystanders! Their flames and ice could injure or kill someone. If they want to punish me, at least capture me first, put a sword to my neck, don’t just unleash lethal magic in the middle of a crowded market!
His eyes darted to the side, calculating his next move as the blades closed in.
I can block this kind of power with just my bare arm.
But the effect of the magic, the sharpness of their blades, even the shattered fragments of their weapons the moment I defend myself will fly toward the kids and the civilians standing behind me.
Ugh!
These two are super dumb bitches!
Didn’t they notice their own princess is standing right behind me!?
Shit!
Time seemed to slow as the two magic-infused blades descended. Javier’s eyes locked onto the trajectory, the arc of the flames, the chill radiating from the ice.
"Buddy!"
A sharp, commanding shout cut through the air.
Buddy’s beak curled into a knowing smirk. In an instant, his wind magic activated, a swirling gust of wind pulled every child around him, those on his back, those perched on his head, those playing near his feet, and tucked them safely beneath his wings.
The three wild pekko followed suit, their own wind magic activating in perfect sync, shielding the nearby elven civilians who would had been in the calculated path of the attack. The brown pekko moved casually, shifting his body to shield Celine under his wing.
Javier exhaled, raising both arms. The flaming sword and the ice blade crashed against his forearms. The weapons shattered on impact, and the magical backlash surged forward, only to be harmlessly absorbed by Buddy’s barrier.
What a pair of stupid bitches. Lucky for me, Armand personnel are far more trained than this. If they were my soldiers, they’d be scrubbing latrines for a year.
