Vane tasks Jaigar and Gorak with a critical mission to verify intel regarding Armand and infiltrate the city within three months. They must travel to the Elven border, locate 'Beggar Jee,' and confirm the viability of information provided by an agent. Failure to comply or any deviation from orders will result in severe consequences, as Vane emphasizes the importance of this intelligence for their ultimate goal: assassinating the Demon King.

Elven Nation.

Royal Palace.

Genevieve collapsed in a dramatic heap, her hand flying to her forehead as a mournful wail escaped her lips. Staggering back, she used a nearby chair to steady herself before sliding gracelessly to the floor, her despair a palpable performance.

"Ah~ Sob, sob... my precious daughter... my only child... she was meant to carry on my human lineage, and now she's become an elf... because she despises me~"

Gloria sighed, pressing fingers to the bridge of her nose. "Mother..."

"No!" Genevieve twisted her head away, muffling her cries with a handkerchief, her fake sobs intensifying.

"Don't you dare speak to me! Oh~ My one and only daughter... sob, sob... all my sons took after their father and became those elegant elves, every last one! I rejoiced when you were born, my little Gloria, my unique child who inherited all my human features! But now... now you're so ashamed of being human that you've altered your appearance to look like an elf! Ah~ The sheer betrayal!"

Gloria pressed her fingers harder against her nose, her brow furrowing. "Mother... this is merely a disguise. I am on a mission."

"Ah! I refuse to believe you!" Genevieve shrieked, clutching the handkerchief to her chest. "You've always held your father's elven blood in higher regard! And now you've gone and made yourself look completely elven! You've forsaken me! Oh~ My poor, delicate human heart!"

"Mother..." Gloria's voice lowered as she knelt beside her mother, attempting to offer solace. But Genevieve recoiled theatrically, batting Gloria's hand away.

"No~ Keep your distance~ I know you loathe me~"

Her gaze shifted, noticing her husband, Sythaeryn, approaching. Genevieve surged forward, throwing herself into his arms and clinging tightly.

"Oh, my dearest husband~ Our daughter has betrayed me~ She's changed her looks to be like an elf because she hates my human heritage~"

Sythaeryn offered a warm smile, enveloping her in a firm embrace. His hand trailed down her back, resting proprietarily on her posterior, a gentle squeeze accompanying his words of comfort.

"Oh, my love," he murmured, his tone smooth and laced with amusement. "Such a grievous betrayal indeed. How shall we ever mend from such a wound?"

Genevieve dabbed her eyes with exaggerated sorrow, tilting her head to gaze at him with coy eyes. She raised a hand, her fingers lightly caressing his cheek before she leaned in.

"Oh, my darling husband... since our daughter found it fitting to betray me, perhaps we should create more little ones for ourselves~ Another precious child who will undoubtedly inherit my human traits and adore me without reservation~"

Her lips pursed as she leaned in for a kiss, her hand still resting tenderly on his cheek.

Sythaeryn’s smile softened as he lowered his head, their lips meeting in a passionate kiss. His hands began a slow exploration of her form as they stood, Gloria's presence entirely forgotten.

Gloria’s brow twitched with irritation as she observed her parents, lost in their intimate embrace and oblivious to the world around them.

"Ugh... these two will never change."

She let out a weary sigh, shaking her head.

My parents truly have no awareness of their surroundings. Their public displays of affection are so unrestrained, as if no one else exists.

"They really never change, do they?"

Gloria turned, drawn by the voice, and saw her eldest brother, Edwyrd, lounging against the doorframe with a gentle smile.

"Ah... Brother."

"How is my little sister? It seems you've finally decided to embrace your elven heritage~" he teased, indicating her now pointed ears.

"No... I cherish my human appearance, and this change isn't permanent. It's solely for a mission, something I'm confident you already comprehend."

Edwyrd let out a soft chuckle. "I know."

A smile graced Gloria's lips as she began walking with Edwyrd, leaving her parents still absorbed in their own world, completely unaware of their departure.

"How fares your life with Liana's sister, Azariah?"

Edwyrd chuckled. "She is my wife, and by extension, your sister-in-law, as you well know."

"I heard she is expecting their second child soon." Gloria directed a knowing smile toward him. "And how is my first niece doing?"

"Ah... Erlan? He's at home. That young lad is beginning to find his footing and learn to walk now." Edwyrd's expression softened with paternal pride. "He's growing so rapidly."

Gloria smiled faintly, a gentle warmth flickering in her eyes. "It's hard to fathom how swiftly time passes."

"Indeed..." Edwyrd agreed, his gaze warm. "And yet, you have still not formally introduced your future husband to our parents."

Gloria let out a soft laugh, adjusting her glasses. "I believe everyone has already met him. It was during your wedding to Azariah, years ago."

"Ah... the one currently stationed at the Elven northern border town?"

"Yes. That is him."

Edwyrd shook his head with a smile. "I still find it astonishing that a noble's son has ascended to the rank of prince."

"Mm..." Gloria offered a soft smile in response.

"So, how long do you intend to remain here?"

Gloria cast a pointed look towards Edwyrd. "I've been here for two days already, when Liana and I were supposed to be with our Young Master, discreetly observing the mission and offering support. However, Liana's siblings insisted she remain for an additional day, so who knows how long this delay will continue... And Mother also insisted I stay as long as Liana does. I had no choice, as you well know."

Edwyrd offered a smile. "Well... how about we all get together like the last time?"

Gloria gave a wry smile. "Oh really? And then all of you will gang up and tease me again? No, thank you~"

A soft chuckle escaped Edwyrd as he glanced at Gloria. "But at least we could share a meal, couldn't we?"

"Hmm... sure. I don't have a problem with that."

Edwyrd beamed and tapped the mana radio talkie attached to his belt. "I've already reached out to our brothers: Nevarth, Ivasaar, Kesefeon, Halamar, and Wyrran. It's a good thing Armand provided us with these mana radio talkies; communication is no longer an issue for us."

Gloria grinned, gesturing towards the mana talkie on Edwyrd's waist and then touching the smaller, earpiece-style mana talkie in her own ear. "Indeed. All of Armand’s allies now possess the same magical technology. The design has only minor variations."

"Well," Edwyrd elaborated, "even with slight design differences, the functionality is a tremendous asset. Communication is expedited, coordination among our forces is streamlined, and information is exchanged without any lag. It has greatly simplified managing the kingdom."

"Mmm... it's all thanks to our aunt marrying into the Armand royal family," Gloria remarked with a gentle smile. "That alliance truly opened up countless opportunities."

"Precisely." Edwyrd's expression turned contemplative as he nodded. "And with the established free trade among all of Armand's allies, our Elven economy has prospered. Goods move seamlessly between our respective nations, and our people now have access to commodities they previously lacked. Travel between Elven, Beastkin, and Armand territories is also less restricted, thanks to the mutual trust and agreements in place. It's made everything... simpler."
