Reborn As Noble Chapter 1289: Mastering the Movement ( 1289 )
Previously on Reborn As Noble...
The Armand Nation. The Armand Estate. Within the newly constructed building in the Armand Estate.
Garius and Alf were positioned at the heart of the expansive courtyard. The circular building’s transparent ceiling allowed ample sunlight to descend upon them. Each man wore motion-capturing controllers; Garius was outfitted in the golden knight’s ensemble, while Alf donned the silver knight’s. Before them, the golden and silver knights stood in readiness, awaiting activation.
Armand household maids and elite special forces members maintained a vigilant perimeter, observing the proceedings with hushed reverence.
Garius moved his arm tentatively, and the golden knight flawlessly replicated the action. His eyes gleamed with an almost childlike wonder, a striking departure from his typically austere and focused disposition.
"Uwooo!!! Alf, you must see this! It feels as though I’ve truly stepped inside the knight! I’m perceiving through its vision, sensing its movements – it’s as if I’m actually present!"
Alf emitted a low chuckle, tilting his head as he adjusted his own controllers. "Your Majesty, I implore you, temper your excitement. We still have a critical mission requiring our preparation."
"And who wouldn't be exhilarated by such a marvel? Observe, I can achieve flight with this!" Garius enacted a broad gesture, causing the golden knight’s wings to unfurl, lifting it momentarily from the ground before it settled back down. "This is precisely my style. With this capability, we can access locales we seldom visit, Alf. Just contemplate the sheer scope of possibilities."
Alf offered a gentle smile, his gaze fixed on Garius, a sentiment of amusement blended with admiration in his expression.
Witnessing Garius exude such vitality and eagerness was a remarkably infrequent occurrence.
This sight evoked memories of Garius's youth, a time before the immense burden of leadership had become his constant companion.
It was genuinely heartening to observe his unadulterated joy, even if it stemmed from the novelty of a robotic knight.
"Hmm..." Garius stroked his chin, his eyes meticulously surveying the heads-up display projected via his mana-infused spectacles. The headgear, microphone, and the controllers adorning his hands and legs were all wirelessly interconnected, their embedded runes pulsing with a soft luminescence in rhythm with his movements.
"Oho~ This is truly impressive. It’s also synchronized with the Sky Eyes network, the mana satellite, and the entirety of the Sky Eyes weaponry systems."
With a subtle flick of a finger, a golden mana gun materialized on each side of the golden knight’s hips.
"Wooo~ This is superb. Dual golden mana guns." Garius grasped the guns in the knight’s hands, assuming various dynamic poses, one hand extended forward while the other aimed towards the side.
"This knight is also equipped with a mana cannon upon activation, I see? And the missile system possesses auto-lock targeting capabilities." He paused, his attention drawn to the communication interface. "And a mana communicator, facilitating direct contact with each other or the command center."
Garius flashed a grin, a rare, boyish excitement illuminating his features. "It's no wonder my youngest son derived so much pleasure from his numerous inventions. It appears we can leverage these for our forthcoming strategy, Alf."
"Indeed, Your Majesty." Alf adjusted his stance, endeavoring to acclimatize himself to the motion controllers. The silver knight mimicked his movements, albeit with a degree of clumsiness that contrasted with Garius’s fluid execution.
"Acquire proficiency swiftly, Alf. We have a mission of paramount importance ahead. Those scoundrels are actively pursuing the individual in the silver armor~" Garius's smile adopted a cunning edge. "And we shall provide them with precisely what they seek."
Garius returned the dual golden guns to the knight’s hips before adjusting his posture. The golden knight mirrored his actions with flawless synchronicity.
"And we can also set it to an idle state, can we? Hmm?" Garius tilted his head, his right eye emitting a faint glow as he examined the interface. A shrewd smirk began to form on his lips.
"Oh~ This is quite advantageous. This particular unit can also be automated, Alf. Much like your youngest son’s knights. It's regrettable that we cannot channel our personal skills through them. The knight is confined to its inherent functionalities, precluding the utilization of our individual combat proficiencies while operating it."
Alf smiled, refining his stance as the silver knight dutifully followed suit.
"However, Your Majesty, this knight is already outfitted with the finest armaments available, encompassing mana bombs, the twin swords mounted on its back, and the option to deploy a shield and an assault mana rifle. Furthermore, the data indicates it boasts a barrier potent enough to withstand a thousand rounds from an assault mana rifle or hundreds of mana cannon volleys. This knight can effortlessly disregard conventional cannon fire and flintlock musket projectiles without sustaining any harm."
"Aye." Garius concurred with a nod, crossing his arms in unison with the golden knight’s mirrored gesture.
"If the pilot could channel their own magical energies and combat techniques through the knight, akin to a true mage or warrior on the battlefield, it would represent perfection. Yet, I comprehend the inherent limitations. Everything possesses its constraints. Nevertheless... this suffices for our requirements, and then some."
"Your Majesty, what is our subsequent course of action?" Alf inquired, crossing his arms. The silver knight mirrored his posture as he directed his gaze toward Garius.
Garius smirked, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. "We proceed with the training. By now, I’m sure those bastards have already arrived at Amazarak. We’re going to master the movement, control, and combat functions of these knights as quickly as possible. So when we start the operation to lure those bastards in, we’ll be ready."
"As you command, Your Majesty."
Garius nodded, a competitive glint in his eyes. "For now, we should fly these things toward the top of the hill behind this estate." He smirked and glanced at Alf. "Let’s see who arrives there first, Alf~"
"Challenge accepted, Your Majesty."
Both knights activated their mana jetpacks, the thrusters unfolding from their backs with a mechanical hum. With a sudden burst of speed, they shot upward, crashing through the glass ceiling of the round building. Shards of crystal rained down as the two knights soared into the open sky.
"See you soon, Alf!" Garius’s voice rang out through the mana talkie, filled with exhilaration as the golden knight streaked ahead.
Meanwhile.
Inside the observation room on the first floor, behind the glass windows.
Francesca let out a weary exhale, accompanied by all her co-wives. Garcinia sat gracefully on a cushioned chair, Phenelopie stood by the window with a cup of tea in hand, Eridith was seated at a table piled high with roasted meat, and Mylezra sat near the glass, her eyes fixed on the courtyard below.
"Look at our husband." Francesca sighed, shaking her head slightly. "He’s so excited with those 'toys' Javier made. If all his sons saw how childish he can get when he’s excited, they’d be shocked. None of them have ever seen him like this."
Eridith, who was too focused on her huge plate of meat, glanced at Francesca while still munching.
"Hmm? Isn’t he always like that? From his younger self till now."
Francesca gave Eridith a sharp glare. "Don’t talk while you still have food in your mouth, dragon girl! And you already have a daughter with him, so act like a proper adult!"
"Mou!!" Eridith puffed her cheeks and pursed her lips, averting Francesca’s scary eyes before letting out a low mumble. "Always nagging..."
While Mylezra’s eyes remained fixed on Garius in the courtyard with Alf, her expression was soft, her face glowing with a gentle, loving smile.
