Reborn As Noble Chapter 1258: The Anchor of the Circle ( 1258 )
Previously on Reborn As Noble...
After a short while, Mimi was already seated at the dining table. She reached out for the first substantial piece of roast meat from the platter. Meanwhile, Liana stood by Gracelle's bedside, assisting her in eating her porridge.
"Stop watching the Holo TV and focus on your meal first!" Liana's voice was sharp.
"Eeep! Okay!" Gracelle quickly shifted her gaze back to her bowl.
"Nyahaha~ She’s getting scolded too," Mimi chuckled softly. She reached for another slice of meat with her hand, dipped it into the accompanying sauce, and began to munch it happily.
"Mm~ Delicious, nya~" Her tail swayed contentedly. One palm rested on her cheek as she chewed with pure bliss.
Gracelle glanced at the catgirl at the table, who was happily devouring the meat. Gracelle swallowed hard.
That looks so delicious...
She looked down at her bowl of plain porridge and sighed softly.
How can I taste at least one small slice?
She glanced to her side, where Liana was busy arranging items on the table.
But she’s here.
I can’t slip off this bed without her noticing.
And if she discovers I attempted to sneak a bite, I'm sure she won't just stop at scolding. She mentioned earlier that she would inform Javier about my stubborn and disobedient behavior... That would completely sabotage my chance to be with him before I even properly join his circle.
She bit her lower lip, her eyes lingering on the meat for a moment longer before she reluctantly turned her attention back to her porridge.
I should behave... for now.
Just as she was about to take a spoonful of porridge, she paused when she noticed someone standing on the other side of her bed.
She put down the spoon and glanced up.
"Nya? Is it tasty?" Mimi tilted her head while still munching her meat. Her other hand held a plate piled high with roast meat and a small saucer of special sauce for dipping. Her tail swayed lazily as she glanced at Gracelle’s porridge.
"Mm... this is also good," Gracelle replied with a weak smile, but her eyes remained fixed on Mimi’s plate.
Ah... I want to try it.
I wonder how long it's been since I last ate meat?
Just a small bite. All I want is one small bite.
She swallowed hard.
Mimi tilted her head again, still chewing. "Ne~ ne~"
"Hmm? Yes?"
"What’s your name?" Mimi asked, her tone casual and friendly.
Gracelle smiled faintly. "Gracelle. Just call me Gracelle."
"Gra... celle... Gracelle...?" Mimi tested the name slowly, her ears twitching.
"Mm." Gracelle nodded.
"Oh..." Mimi nodded back. "Mimi is Mimi, nya! Just call me Mimi!"
"Mimi..." Gracelle mumbled softly, her eyes still locked on Mimi’s plate.
Mimi noticed Gracelle’s gaze fixed on her food. "Want some?" Mimi extended the plate toward her, offering a slice while still chewing on another piece.
"R... really? I can?" Gracelle's eyes widened before she glanced nervously at Liana, then back at Mimi.
"Nya? What’s wrong? Don’t you want it?"
Gracelle was about to reach for the meat but flinched and paused when she heard a sharp, low voice emanating from behind.
"Don’t you dare."
Gracelle swallowed hard at Liana’s warning before turning back to her porridge.
Meanwhile, Mimi flinched in panic upon seeing Liana’s sharp, intimidating glare. She quickly hid the plate behind her back, feigning innocence as she took a slow, careful step backward.
Liana directed another sharp, terrifying glare at Mimi and proceeded to scold her.
"If you dare feed her even one tiny bit of meat and something happens to her, you’ll be subsisting on nothing but vegetables for months! No sauce, no meat, nothing!"
"Eeeppp!!!" Mimi’s tail stiffened in panic. "I don’t want that! I promise I won’t feed her anything, nya!"
"Then go back to the table and eat there!"
"Okayyyyy!" Mimi scrambled away from the bed and hurried back to the table, sitting down quietly without another word.
Gracelle swallowed hard and quickly began eating her porridge, not daring to look at Liana’s terrifying gaze.
Uwa... she’s so scary...
I better just eat this and behave for now.
Gracelle coughed hard. She turned, feeling Liana’s intimidating aura.
Liana exhaled and reached for a glass of water, handing it to Gracelle before patting her back gently.
"Eat slowly."
"O... okay..." Gracelle mumbled softly after drinking.
Gloria, who had observed the entire unfolding scene, simply smiled.
Mm~ That girl needs to learn firsthand how scary Liana can be, and why she’s so perfectly suited to become Javier’s first wife. She is strict yet caring, protective yet fair, and she possesses the skill to manage everyone, from the Young Master himself to his future wives. She acts as the anchor ensuring the circle remains stable.
She noticed on the Holo TV that the wedding vows had concluded. Aelius and Athine were in the process of exchanging their rings. Following the vow, they leaned in, their lips meeting in a soft, passionate kiss – a moment overflowing with love, tenderness, and the profound promise of a lifetime shared together.
"Ah~ Prince Aelius and Princess Athine are now officially married!"
Liana’s face brightened upon hearing Gloria’s comment.
"Yes, they are now husband and wife. Their love has finally been recognized and blessed."
Gloria beamed.
"And it will soon be our turn too, won’t it, Liana?"
Liana offered a gentle smile, her gaze drifting to the Holo TV where Javier was stepping away from the wedding altar, his duties as best man concluded.
"Mm... let’s hope so. I believe he will make it official once the Maid Beauty Contest concludes, right?" Liana inquired, turning her attention back to Gloria.
Gloria let out a soft chuckle.
"Mm~ I believe my votes will soon surpass yours, securing me the first place."
"My, my~" Liana smiled sweetly, crossing her arms. "I doubt you’ll manage that, Second Wife. Don’t forget that Lady Mother has expanded the voting to include the people of Armand and Arjam, not just the officers, staff, soldiers, and guards."
"Arara~ Feeling confident, are you, First Wife?" Gloria smirked. "Don’t fret. I’m sure I have my own voters. And when I win, I shall request a special reward from Young Master~"
"My, my~ We shall see about that, Miss Second Wife."
Mimi tilted her head, observing them for a moment before shrugging and continuing to eat her meal.
Just as a flicker of rivalry ignited in Liana and Gloria’s eyes, the door creaked open, and Delya’s head appeared.
"Mimi!" she hissed. Noticing Liana and Gloria, she quickly entered, still clutching her chocolate jar, and offered a slight bow. "Big Sis, Sis Gloria."
"Ah, Delya. What is it?" Liana asked.
"Mm? Nothing, Big Sis. I was merely wondering where Mimi had gone, as her seat was empty."
"Oh." Liana nodded. "So, how did you know she was here?"
"Ah... I inquired with one of the maids, and they mentioned seeing Mimi heading toward this room."
"Oh... I see."
Clutching her chocolate jar, Delya moved towards Mimi. "Why did you leave your seat? Felicia Nee-sama is looking for you!" she hissed.
"E... eh?" Mimi’s ears perked up, her tail stiffening. She darted a glance towards the door. $Where is she?"
"She is coming to this room." Delya murmured softly before taking a seat on a nearby cushion.
"Ehhhhh!?" Mimi sprang up, grabbing her plate while still trying to bite into a large piece of meat. She then scurried to hide behind Liana.
Liana let out a sigh, just as she was about to speak.
The door opened, and Felicia entered.
"Where is Mimi?" Felicia’s voice, though graceful, carried a sharp edge of cold authority as her eyes swept across the room.
Liana shook her head. "Why? What happened?"
"How dare she register my name to give a speech after the vows! It’s fortunate I was prepared and managed to deliver a brief address. Now, where is she!?" Felicia’s sharp, unyielding gaze continued to scan the room.
