After dinner, Liana is summoned once more by the troublesome patient Kalea through the nervous maid Juria, much to her annoyance. As Gloria, Felicia, and Mimi observe, Felicia sternly lectures Mimi on the discipline and dignity expected of princesses, drawing from her royal upbringing. Liana gently chides Felicia to relax, sends the group to rest, and plans to check on the Young Master tending to Buddy before visiting Kalea.

Liana emerged into the vast courtyard, scanning the area as the chilly night breeze grazed her skin.

Javier’s puppet knights stood vigilant, with some sweeping the grounds in orderly, hushed patterns.

Hmm... Where might the Young Master be?

She spun around and spotted the enormous Golden Pekko nearby, where Garius was offering it food, flanked by Alf and Erinette as always.

Ah...

Liana hastened her steps, striving to create distance from that spot.

Avoid drawing the attention of Young Master’s father. Mrs. Erinette and Sir Alf are present too, after all.

Having gained some separation from them, she halted and surveyed the surroundings once more.

The Young Master appears absent from this courtyard.

Gloria mentioned he planned to visit Buddy...

Yet neither he nor...

As Liana's thought neared completion, a gentle, steady thumping caught her ear, prompting her to turn toward the source.

Javier was already atop Buddy, sauntering with a cocky, relaxed gait, Buddy chest puffed out with a smug beak-grin.

Liana placed hands on her hips and shot an upward glare at them.

"Young Master!"

"Hmm? Liana? What are you doing out here alone in the courtyard? It’s risky to wander by yourself, especially this late." Javier replied, his eyes narrowing in stern, guarding fashion.

Liana folded her arms, peering up at Javier then at Buddy.

"I’m not alone. Your knights are here, and I came to check on you."

Javier shook his head with a smile. "No need to fret over me. I’ve stayed with Buddy all along. Anyway, this won’t drag on."

Liana sighed and shook her head upon seeing the wooden sword in Javier’s grasp.

"Young Master... don’t say you’re at it again, playing bandit with Buddy."

Javier offered a sheepish grin. "Ah... no... I was merely... umm..."

Liana whipped her head around at the sound of approaching mechanical steps. An entire squad of Javier’s puppet knights jogged up in tight formation, halting behind Buddy and snapping to attention.

She rubbed her forehead.

"Young Master... you’re no longer a child, you know."

"W... what?" Javier feigned offense, hand to chest in theatrical flair. "Oh, Liana, my first love... such words pierce me! I’m not playing... I’m... uh... patrolling?"

"Oh? Is that so? Hmm?" Liana crossed her arms, cocking her head. "Then explain the wooden sword? Hmm?"

"Ah..." Javier swiftly tucked the wooden sword beneath Buddy’s wing. "I... I have no sword. Look?"

Liana let out a sigh. "Who do you think you’re fooling, Young Master?"

Javier scratched the back of his head with a sheepish grin. "Ehehehe."

Liana crossed her arms and shook her head. "Don’t linger too long." Then she fixed Buddy with a glare. "You. Guard your master well. If harm comes to him, I’ll heat the pot myself and turn you into stew for supper."

"Cuquawked!" Buddy squinted down at her, then flicked his head in haughty dismissal.

Liana released a deep breath. "Don’t take too long, Young Master. I’m off."

"Okay..." Javier grinned, then cocked his head. "Where to, Liana?"

Liana stopped and shot a glare back over her shoulder.

"Your next girl demands my company!" she snapped.

"Who?" Javier tilted his head, truly puzzled.

"Who else!?" Liana snapped once more. "The girl you rescued, the one you treated, who’s been asking for me every couple hours since recovering a bit! She’s practically latched onto you via me!"

Javier looked away, dodging her gaze. "Ah... no idea what you mean."

Liana puffed her cheeks, eyes narrowing. "Just go play bandit with Buddy. Ugh!" She stomped off in a huff, her steps resounding through the silent courtyard.

Upon arriving at the next building’s entrance, Liana entered the first zone.

Sigh. Good thing I’ve rested plenty.

She washed her hands, triggered her Cleanse and Purify skills, and donned her scrub, cap, facemask, and gloves.

Wonder what she needs now.

They claimed it was to verify something, but last time it was just talk.

If she weren’t still mending from sickness, I’d have skipped her summons by now.

What a pesky girl.

Clingier and more troublesome than Mimi.

And once she enters the group... she’ll cling even harder.

Preparations complete, she shoved open the door to the second zone and entered.

Suddenly, Myra lounging relaxed in her chair, Kalea and the others murmuring softly, all froze rigid as the door swung open. The instant Liana strode in, they leaped to their feet, eyes dropping submissively before her imposing aura.

Liana came to a halt right before Myra's desk. Myra tensed further, her gaze darting away in unease.

"A... ah... M... Miss... L... Liana."

Liana shot her a quick look.

"How is her condition?"

Myra faltered a bit, her tone cautious. "Uh... well... Miss Gracelle remains stable. She ate a bit of food and drank adequately. Her recovery looks promising, with her body absorbing the nutrients properly."

"Mm... good." Liana murmured, her eyes flicking to the ICU room. From afar, she spotted Gracelle's eyes sparkling with delight at her arrival.

Sigh... Hopefully, this doesn't turn into a big hassle.

Liana shifted her gaze back to Myra.

"So, did you check on her recently?"

Myra bobbed her head fast. "We examined her just moments ago. All remains steady."

Liana shook her head, breathing out gently from behind her mask.

"I’m going in."

She nudged open the ICU door, catching Gracelle's voice—frail and faint, yet bursting with eagerness.

"Miss Elf!!"

Liana glided forward with poise, positioning herself bedside and folding her arms.

"So? Why did you request my presence again, Gracelle?"

Gracelle pouted her lips, yanking the blanket to hide her mouth while peeking at her.

"Umm... you look scary."

Liana sharpened her stare.

"I’m not scary!" she whispered fiercely.

"Ah... I feel hurt somewhere." Gracelle murmured from beneath the blanket, her eyes glinting with sly playfulness.

Liana squeezed the bridge of her nose, then spun to haul a close chair nearer before sitting down.

"Now..." Liana folded her arms, reclined in the seat, and locked eyes with Gracelle. "What is it you want to ask? And this better be important."

"Mm... could you... erm... calm down first? Tehe~" Gracelle grinned gently, blanket still veiling half her face, fingers gripping the edge firmly.

"I... am... calm..." Liana glared daggers. "You know it’s night, and both of us need rest, especially you. Now tell me, what’s so important that you need to ask?"

"Umm..." Gracelle whispered before tilting her head to stare at the ceiling.

"I just want to know..."

She swiveled her head, sneaking a sideways peek at Liana.

"About someone..."

Liana rolled her eyes with a sigh. "Just get to the point."

Gracelle held Liana's gaze, twisting anxiously.

"I want to know about... Javier De Armand."
