Garius contacted Javier via mana talkie, summoning him urgently to the war room over serious troubles in Mathrias. Javier reflected on recent successes like saving Gracelle from a curse parasite and tracked threats including the Mathrias butler group and mysterious humans with modern weapons at Amazarak, while noting unrest with foreign flags, patrolling soldiers, and cannon fire in Mathrias territory. Meanwhile, Liana reluctantly visited Gracelle, who insisted on her presence for comfort and nicknamed her 'Miss Elf with beautiful eyes.'

Capítulo 1220: Another Annoying Clingy Girl ( 1220 )

Liana squinted her eyes at Gracelle.

Sigh… yet another pesky girl, just like Mimi.

Hopefully, this clinginess is only short-term, maybe because she's still emotionally fragile after just recovering from her sickness.

If it drags on and gets as weird or bothersome as Mimi once she got better, I'll discipline her—no matter if she's a noble's daughter or whatever.

She stared at Gracelle's flushed cheeks, her lips still concealed behind the blanket, eyes sparkling brightly.

“You know, that’s a pretty weak excuse. I’m no teddy bear or lullaby for you to snuggle up to for sleep.”

“Umm…” Gracelle muttered some vague reason, her voice hardly above a whisper.

Liana sighed lightly and shook her head, looking over at Myra beside her.

“Could you give us some privacy?”

“Eh? How come?” Myra shot Liana a puzzled glance.

“Not sure… maybe this girl wants a private chat with me.”

“Oh… alright…” Myra spun around and headed for the door, then stopped short.

“Umm… don’t… umm… harm the patient…” Myra teased, then dashed out in mild alarm after catching Liana’s stern glare.

Liana muttered irritably. “I won’t!”

Once Myra had exited, Liana eyed Gracelle, who fidgeted nervously under her blanket.

“Well?” Liana prompted, sounding a bit impatient. “What did you need to see me for?”

“Umm…” Gracelle whispered, looking away shyly. “Could you… umm… at least sit down first?”

Liana released a deep breath. “Alright.” She grabbed a nearby chair and settled into it.

From the bed, Gracelle peeked at her. “Umm… I can’t speak loudly yet… so… umm… come closer? That way… err… you can hear me properly?”

Liana shook her head. “FYI, Miss ‘Patient,’ I’m exhausted and ready to drop right now.”

“Oh… umm… sorry.” Gracelle murmured. “Do you work nights as well?”

Liana, having dragged the chair nearer to the bed and sat, looked at Gracelle and shook her head.

“Something like that. So… spit it out—what do you want to talk about? This better matter.”

A faint smile crossed Gracelle’s lips.

“I’m… thirsty… could I have some water?”

Liana’s eyes narrowed. “Has that girl let you drink yet?” She gestured toward the door where Myra was at her desk.

“Umm… no… even… umm… what’s his name? Oh… the handsome doctor said they’d recheck me in a few hours. If all’s stable, maybe a sip then.”

Liana rolled her eyes with a sigh. “If the ‘handsome doctor’ says hold off, then you hold off. Sorry, no can do.” Liana replied offhandedly.

“P… pretty please?” Gracelle pleaded with wide puppy-dog eyes.

“No way. Remember, the doctor’s orders are for your benefit. He’s ensuring your body can handle food or drink first.”

“But…” Gracelle pouted, her expression crumpling like she might cry—though obviously acting.

Liana sighed again. “Cry all you want; I still can’t give you anything.”

“But…” Gracelle made her eyes glisten. “I’m so parched I might dry up and die…”

Liana breathed out. “Lower your blanket a little and tilt your chin up.”

“Why?” Gracelle yanked the blanket higher over her mouth. “You gonna finish me off?”

“No!” Liana snapped. “If I meant to kill you, why would I have assisted the doctor in saving you?”

“Ah… true…” Gracelle gave a feeble chuckle and tugged the blanket down to her chest. “This okay?”

“Mm…” Liana grunted, resting her palm over Gracelle’s throat. A lovely light blue glow emanated from her hand, gentle and calming like mist on serene waters at dawn.

Gracelle’s features softened as soothing magic coursed through her, bringing instant relief.

After Liana withdrew her hand, Gracelle looked up. “What was that? My thirst is gone now.”

Liana squinted. “That’s my way to ease your thirst until they allow real liquids.”

“Th… thank you… Miss Beautiful-Eyed Elf.”

“Miss… what?” Liana squinted and sighed, turning her gaze aside. “Such a strange girl.”

“If that’s all, I’m heading out.”

“Eh? Already?” Gracelle’s eyes went wide; she struggled to prop herself up, but weakness held her down.

Liana halted, turned back, eased her down gently, and shot a fierce glare. “Stay put. You’re still too frail. No rash moves.”

“B… but…” Gracelle whispered, lips pursed, eyes locked on Liana’s face. “If you go… how will I fall asleep?”

Liana’s eyes narrowed sharply.

Ugh! Another clingy nuisance. Worse than Mimi. She’s exploiting her frailty to trap me here.

“You’ve got nothing more to say, right? I’m beat. I’m leaving so you rest—and I can crash too,” she snapped.

“But…” Gracelle pulled a pitiful expression, her bottom lip quivering.

Ugh! Even more irritating than Mimi.

Sigh… what a headache of a patient.

“Fine!” Liana snapped. “Ten minutes max. Sleep, or I’ll force you to.”

Gracelle beamed, drawing up her blanket with a soft giggle. “Thanks, Miss Elf.”

Liana sat down, reclined, and watched Gracelle. “Sleep now. Then I’m out to rest.”

“Mm…” Gracelle shifted sideways to face Liana, minding the IV and tubes in her arm. “Miss Elf?”

“Yes?” Liana folded her arms, eyeing her suspiciously.

“I overheard the other miss say… you’re engaged to that handsome doctor~”

Liana’s eyes narrowed.

Doesn’t she know about Young Master? For real? She hasn’t realized her savior is the guy she’s after?

Oh~ This might get fun~

Liana suppressed her grin, keeping a straight face. “Yes… he’s my fiancé…” She sighed wearily. “But…”

“But?” Gracelle leaned in curiously, eyes sparkling like she craved hot gossip.

“That handsome doctor’s a real handful, you know.”

“Huh? For real?” Gracelle stared intently. “Is he stepping out on you, Miss Elf? Seriously?”

Liana narrowed her eyes.

Whoa~ She’s badmouthing her crush already… If she learned the doc is her crush… wonder what face she’d make.

“Mm…” Liana feigned sadness. “Being a prince… the handsomest of his brothers… he acts freely, now with five fiancées including me. Plus countless admirers. Ah~” Liana looked away dramatically, hand over her mask as if sobbing. “Sob sob… Bet he’ll snag a sixth or seventh soon~”
