Meanwhile.
Outside the courtyard.
Javier perched on a bench, gazing skyward as the final traces of sunset melted into twilight. A lengthy sigh escaped him as he leaned forward, elbows propped on his knees, shoulders sagging from sheer weariness.
He looked down at the ground.
The operation is over... but I'm not sure if she'll pull through or regain consciousness yet.
Let's hope it all turned out fine.
I've given it my all, and now... fate must take over.
His gaze lifted to the deepening sky. Mana lamps illuminated the Mathrias manor, while the surgery building shone vividly under sophisticated mana lights.
His belly rumbled.
He scanned the area and spotted Buddy lounging near the structure from afar, with the massive golden Pekko, Giddie, close by.
Ah... seems Buddy's getting a talking-to from his dad, eh?
Javier let out a quiet chuckle, then shook his head.
I wonder if Buddy's had dinner?
He eyed Giddie's swollen belly and saw Buddy's stomach was likewise plump and rounded.
Guess he's stuffed himself... likely plundered the manor's kitchen once more.
The main entrance of the surgery building swung open, and Liana emerged with poised elegance, still clad in her scrubs.
Her movements flowed gracefully, steps feather-light, the scrubs clinging to her figure in a captivating manner that caught his eye.
She eased off her cap, allowing silver locks to tumble over her shoulders, then slipped away her mask to unveil her plush lips and stunning features.
Javier's eyes grew wide, mesmerized by her otherworldly allure.
Liana halted before Javier upon seeing his stare, bending forward a bit, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, and offering a tender smile.
"Young Master?"
Javier jolted from his trance. "Y... yes, Liana?"
"What's the matter? Anything bothering you?" Liana inquired with an innocent, soft smile, her eyes sparkling with worry. "I saw you seemed... deep in thought."
"Ah... nothing, Liana," Javier grinned, locking eyes with her. "I was just admiring how gorgeous you look this evening."
Liana giggled lightly right as Javier's stomach growled again.
"Now, now, Young Master~" Liana beamed. "Sounds like you're famished. Gloria and the rest have prepared a meal for us, I think. They're probably waiting for you~" She extended her hand to Javier's and tugged him gently to his feet.
Javier grinned. "You know I can't relax just yet, don't you?"
Liana smiled once more. "No... I think you can unwind now~"
"What do you mean?" Javier cocked his head, puzzled.
Liana enveloped him in a firm embrace. "Because... the patient is awake."
"Really?" Javier stared at her, face mixing shock and joy.
"Mm... If you doubt me, just reach out to Myra and check yourself~" Liana tiptoed up, murmuring into his ear while clinging to him.
Javier breathed out deeply, grinning with relief. "Thank God."
"Now, let's head to the adjacent building and take a break. Myra and the team will alert you via mana talkie if needed. It's right beside the surgery building anyway."
"Mm..." Javier nodded and strolled leisurely as Liana led him by the hand toward the structure. She beamed faintly, whispering to herself.
"It all went smoothly... You're thrilled now, aren't you, Young Master?"
Javier looked her way. "Mm? Say something, Liana?"
Liana peered back over her shoulder, hand still in his, and smiled gently.
"Nothing, Young Master... nothing~"
"Really?" Javier squinted, allowing her to guide him.
"Yes... really, Young Master~" Liana laughed softly.
Javier saw her halt and eyed her. "Liana?"
"Ah~ Come to think of it..." Liana shot him a playful glance over her shoulder, eyes dancing with mischief. "You'd better brace yourself~"
"Huh?" Javier tilted his head, baffled. "Brace for what?"
"Well..." Liana grinned. "Someone's pouting at the moment~ Bet she's boiling mad~"
"Hmm? Who?" Javier scratched his cheek, his free hand still clasping Liana's slender one.
"Your second wife~" Liana yanked him forward briskly, heading straight for the building's entrance.
"Ehhhh!? Wait, wait... Liana!"
"No can do, Young Master~ You're on your own~" Liana giggled and smirked, flinging open the door before Javier could escape.
Javier froze, spotting Gloria there with arms folded, lips tight, foot tapping as she shot him a piercing stare.
"Ah... Gloria..."
Gloria smirked, though annoyance lingered in her eyes. She lifted her hand to her mouth.
"Ara~ Young Master~ Did you enjoy your time with liaaaannnaaaa~? Hmm?"
"Ah... Gloria... it's not what you think..." Javier rubbed his neck sheepishly, peeking toward Liana.
Liana merely smiled and glided away elegantly, abandoning Javier to Gloria.
"Liana..." Javier muttered in shock, catching Liana's elegant wave over her shoulder as she passed Gloria.
"Ara~ Here we go again. L.i.a.n.a~ again~ right, Young Master?" Gloria fixed him with a pointed, interrogative glare.
Javier gulped.
Think quick, Javier!
This is Gloria. You've known her forever.
Say something to soothe her.
Javier sighed and grinned, stepping closer to embrace her.
"Gloriaaaa~ I'm starving~"
Gloria kept her arms crossed, lips pursed, looking aside. "Hmmph! Have your Liana whip something up. You always seek her out."
Javier hugged tighter, his other hand stroking her back before sliding toward her rear.
"Gloriaaaa~ I'm exhausted."
Gloria batted his hand off her butt, then Javier shifted to rubbing her waist.
"Don't care. Ask Liana."
Javier smiled warmly and pecked her cheek, his hand now cupping and squeezing her breast.
Gloria snorted, attempting to pry Javier's hand from her chest but froze at his whisper.
"I'm sorry, Gloria. It wasn't that I ignored calling you, but the surgery demanded my full focus. Liana only assisted with the procedure."
"Hmmph!" Gloria averted her face as Javier continued fondling her breast.
"Please stop pouting like that. My bad, alright? Mm?"
"You always summon Liana for everything!" she snapped, face still turned, arms crossed after shoving his hand off her breast. "I could help with the surgery too, you know!"
Javier drew her near, cradling her face gently to meet her gaze, smiling tenderly. "I know. But Liana possessed the exact skills required for this procedure. It wasn't picking her over you; it was what the circumstances demanded."
