Reborn as an Extra Chapter 744: You can change this world, Rio! Part-2.
Previously on Reborn as an Extra...
Raika let out a sigh upon hearing Rio’s words, then waved his hand, causing the backdrop within the realm to transform.
As if time itself began to rewind, the ravaged planet commenced its restoration. All fragmented pieces that had been propelled into the void were inexorably drawn back.
Much like a film replaying in reverse, the planet mended itself completely. Water and verdant flora returned to the once-barren surface, and a civilization, appearing to thrive in serene prosperity, materialized before them.
Were Ashtel and Riku present, they would have instantly recognized this civilization upon observing its inhabitants.
"This celestial body is 'Nebo,' the ancestral home of the peace-loving 'Nebo' populace..."
"As you can perceive, their people bear a striking resemblance to humans, save for their possession of four arms and an innate bloodline granting them a degree of foresight!"
A smile gracing his features, Raika shifted the panorama once more.
At this juncture, Rio and Raika found themselves standing atop an ancient temple, gazing out over the entirety of the flourishing city below.
Children frolicked in the thoroughfares, adults were engrossed in their labors, and elders occupied themselves with prayer or the crafting of garments for their grandchildren.
Resources were plentiful, sustenance was abundant, and afflictions such as unemployment, global hunger, destitution, criminality, and maladies were nonexistent.
The Nebo civilization represented an ideal utopia, a dream aspired to by every entity across the cosmos.
"The Nebo civilization received blessings from the 'Heavenly Will' and the 'Law' of 'Cosmic Order'! They possessed all they could ever desire, living a tranquil existence that others could only yearn for!"
Although the Nebo civilization flourished in an era preceding the existence of mana and miasma within the universe, a fundamental 'Heavenly Will' still permeated the cosmos, and the 'Laws' governing existence had been present from time immemorial.
Consequently, it was not unusual for exceptionally gifted individuals to emerge, even in the absence of mana or miasma serving as conduits for supernatural abilities.
"Endowed with extraordinary aptitude, the Nebo civilization swiftly achieved mastery in forging artifacts imbued with the divine essence of the Heavenly Will and the 'Law' of 'Cosmic Order'!"
The surroundings morphed, transporting Rio and Raika into a subterranean manufacturing facility where hundreds toiled on a singular artifact.
The object's appearance was so uncannily familiar that Rio could not help but stare, his sole visible eye widening in astonishment!
"This is... The Fountain of Elemental Life!? It was forged on Planet Nebo!?"
Witnessing Rio's shocked reaction, Raika offered a smile and a nod.
"All 'Mythical' artifacts predating the era of mana and miasma were meticulously crafted on Planet Nebo by the Nebo Civilization..."
"Numerous such artifacts were offered as sacrifices to the 'World' and the 'Heavenly Will' by the Nebo Civilization, signifying their profound faith in the universe... The Fountain of Elemental Life was indeed one such legendary creation..."
"Those sacrificed artifacts were subsequently bestowed upon the fairy race by the 'World,' a similar fate befalling other mythical artifacts as well..."
The scene shifted once more, abruptly placing Rio and Raika within a laboratory situated atop a remote mountain peak.
At the heart of the laboratory, suspended within a vast glass capsule filled with a clear, viscous fluid, floated a 'seed' radiating a potent emerald luminescence.
Observing the Nebo scientists diligently conducting various measurements and moving with urgent haste to accelerate their work, Raika smiled and inquired.
"From whence do you suppose the Elven race, which existed as merely a primitive civilization prior to mana's descent, acquired their most revered mythical protector, 'The World Tree'?"
"Indeed! The World Tree was brought into existence by the Nebo Civilization within this very laboratory, even before the commencement of mana's descent!"
"Later, the 'World' presented this seed to the Elf civilization on the cusp of mana's arrival; without the World Tree, the elven race might well have faced extinction from the universe ages ago!"
The more information Rio absorbed, the greater his astonishment grew!
The original narrative was merely a superficial display of power dynamics, crafted solely to elevate Fade's prominence.
It offered scant attention to the development of supporting characters and provided minimal exposition regarding the world's intricate lore.
Thus, even Rio possessed only a fragmented understanding of this universe's extensive history, and certainly lacked insight into the events transpiring before mana's arrival!
There was no mention of the 'Nebo Civilization'; in fact, Rio had scarcely encountered the name 'Nebo' in the original work, except when it pertained to the 'Demon King,' whose true appellation was 'Nebo Dahaka'!
"To think that a single, long-extinct civilization played a role in the creation of nearly all mythical artifacts..."
"This civilization must have possessed unimaginable power during its zenith..."
Raika observed Rio's typically impassive face register surprise, a sight that brought him a sense of satisfaction as he shifted the scene once more.
Now, Rio and Raika found themselves within an immense forge, its location situated perilously close to one of the five suns adorning Planet Cyria-229.
The vast space teemed with hundreds of dwarves and an equal number of four-armed beings from the 'Nebo' civilization, all collaborating on the forge's centerpiece: a mythical artifact shaped like a crown, nearing completion.
Rio instantly recognized the artifact, recalling a similar one that hovered above his head even now, radiating a potent purplish aura.
"The Crown of Infinite Realms... I understand now. It was forged by the Nebo and Dwarf Civilizations within the renowned ancient forge of Cyria-229, the dwarves' homeworld..."
Raika inclined his head in agreement with Rio's deduction and inquired,
"Indeed! Do you grasp the profound significance of the Nebo civilization in establishing the very bedrock upon which all current universal civilizations are built?"
This question caused Rio's brow to furrow slightly, and he replied in his customary, unfeeling tone,
"I comprehend that they were a dominant race that once ruled the universe with their astonishing capabilities. However, how does this relate to your true intentions?"
"Reveal your genuine motives, Raika; I dislike having to repeat myself."
For reasons he couldn't quite pinpoint, Rio experienced a sense of aversion and irritation simply from Raika's presence, despite the latter having committed no overtly offensive actions.
