Link and his companions discover that Yasna possesses a rare "Psychic" class, an ability not seen in centuries. They note her potential to become a demigod and realize they must deal with an altar that is draining her vitality and altering her destiny. While discussing how to investigate the altar, Link laments Rio's absence, who is apparently still engaged in a protracted battle in space.
"After we conveyed the angel to the altar, a colossal portal materialized before the statue of the crown, and his very form vanished into it instantly..."
"Ever since that day, our planet has been ravaged by continuous calamities, leading to utter devastation!"
The orc race, already sparsely populated across the planet with scattered tribes, began to face dire calamities after Yasna's tribe performed the sacrifice of the so-called angel at the altar.
For several months, the half-orc tribe remained oblivious to any anomalies until refugees, whose homes were annihilated by immense earthquakes, sandstorms, and meteor showers, began to appear.
All these catastrophic events, typically occurring only once every few decades, were now plaguing the entire planet relentlessly! It was as if these calamities were specifically targeting every living being that did not belong to the domain of miasmic corruption.
Animals, insects, monsters, and any creature possessing mana within their bodies suddenly found themselves ensnared in incredibly unlucky events. The death toll spiraled uncontrollably within mere months, triggering a mass extinction event across the planet.
"We have no knowledge of any other half-orc settlements persisting elsewhere, but as far as we can ascertain... we are likely the final remaining half-orcs on this entire world..."
Link inclined his head in agreement with the chief's somber statement.
"Indeed, we traversed thousands upon thousands of kilometers across your planet and encountered not a single living creature until we arrived at this location..."
"We had nearly concluded that this was a barren planet devoid of any life, and were on the verge of departing..."
"Fortunately, we did not leave prematurely and discovered you all just before that spear threatened to obliterate your settlement..."
Disregarding Link's rather audacious performance, Lia posed a question that had been preoccupying her mind.
"Precisely when did you discover that 'Angel' in the desert... in terms of years or days?"
In response to her inquiry, the chief replied,
"Uh, I believe it was about two Cyria years ago..."
Lia was unaware of the exact number of days in a standard Cyria-229 year, but she possessed predictive abilities. She cast her gaze upon a random thread of destiny, tapping into a fraction of its power to form a rough estimation, and what she uncovered was exceedingly intriguing.
As the planet's name implied, this solar system contained upwards of 500 planets. Cyria-229 was but one among the vast multitude orbiting the five suns of this expansive system. The solar system itself dwarfed Lia's home world's system by an immense margin, peppered with an uncountable number of asteroids, both large and small, traversing various orbits around the five celestial bodies.
'No wonder the dwarf race thrived so exceptionally here; this solar system is extraordinarily abundant in resources and materials essential for realizing megastructures...' Lia's home solar system also boasted a substantial workforce and ample resources capable of constructing megastructures like a Dyson sphere, yet the world alliance had still not erected anything of that magnitude. The primary deterrent was the significant risk of such colossal structures being damaged by demons.
Given the frequent emergence of powerful demons and formidable dungeons within that solar system, erecting massive megastructures was virtually unfeasible due to their extreme vulnerability to external threats! Furthermore, with the world alliance already possessing spaceships powered by mana stones, the necessity of siphoning the sun's energy was eliminated; its function as a planetary illuminator was a far more practical application.
Apart from a Dyson sphere, a potent energy shield was already in place above the planet. However, S-rankers and SS-rankers could effortlessly breach it, rendering it largely ineffective.
Thus, despite the world alliance's considerable technological advancements, their developmental focus remained on cultivating more demigods rather than pursuing further technological breakthroughs at present.
'I wonder if a similar fate befell the home planets of other races, like the elves and dragons, as it did the dwarf planet...' 'They too are not native to planet Earth, much like the dwarves, and resided elsewhere prior to the mana descent, implying they should possess their own planets as well...'
'The next time I have an audience with the elf king and queen, I shall inquire about this matter...'
Lia sighed, suppressing her burgeoning curiosity, and proceeded to share her findings with Link and Riya.
[Approximately two Cyrian years translate to roughly 1.9 Earth years...]
[The temporal disparity is minimal, suggesting that the human who materialized on this planet did so around the time we were engaged in battle with Alverto within the Spire of Ascension...]
Lia's eyes narrowed as she continued to speak.
[Moreover, according to the half-orc chief, all beings possessing mana on this planet experienced a sudden downturn in luck from that same day, approximately two years ago too...]
[Rio once mentioned that Alverto was attempting to manipulate the luck of the entire world using the Spire of Ascension... The circumstances here bear a striking resemblance to that scenario...]
It seemed as though the destinies and fortunes of the entire world were being manipulated by an unseen force...
The more Link was told, the more his understanding grew, his eyes widening.
"So, the destiny strings of this planet are broken... Someone has siphoned the world's luck, leaving everyone susceptible to death or corruption by miasma..."
"This altar, and whoever is behind it, are the main culprits..."
Lia voiced her agreement with Link's deductions.
"Ever since we set foot in this orc tribe, I've sensed strong surges of fate and destiny radiating from the central plaza, most likely from that altar..."
"It's highly probable that the planet's entire fortune has been forcibly concentrated in that one location..."
Riya's gaze intensified as she interjected,
"Alverto's incident occurred concurrently with the start of the disaster here... Such a coincidence seems unlikely in the grand tapestry of the universe... These two events are likely interconnected..."
"We cannot ignore this... We must uncover the truth!"
A shared resolve now solidified within the group as they grasped the true gravity of the situation.
