"Wh-what just happened!? What is this place!?"
A look of shock registered on Riya’s face as she gazed upon the endless expanse of sand surrounding them, a mixture of disbelief and astonishment dominating her features.
As far as the eye could see, there was naught but sand, colossal boulders, and dust storms raging everywhere!
Five suns blazed in the sky, intensifying the already scorching heat of the desert into an almost unbearable inferno!
"Were we teleported by someone or something?"
With a bewildered expression, Link quickly moved towards Riya, extending his mana detection range to survey their surroundings and shield her from any potential dangers.
Lia, meanwhile, swiftly activated her destiny manipulation ability for an assessment and was taken aback to discover no disturbances in her own or any of the group members' destinies stemming from this event.
"A peak SS-ranker has targeted us..."
Lia immediately grasped the gravity of the situation, knowing for a fact that no one could have so easily eluded the detection of her destiny-reading ability.
Unless, of course, their power was so immense that it placed them far beyond her capacity to glimpse their destiny.
"Rio and Miki are not with us... Did the two of them not get teleported with us, or have they been sent to some other location?"
Lia surveyed the area with a grave expression, a knot of worry tightening in her chest at Rio’s absence.
"No need to worry about Rio; he’s strong; nothing would happen to him. We need to find where we are and find Miki if she’s here too..."
"She’s the weakest among our group and is the most in danger..."
Kai materialized on Lia’s shoulder, chiming in after hearing Link’s words. He spoke with a rare, somber tone.
"I just used my powers to scan hundreds of kilometers of area... there is nothing around at all..."
"But from those five suns in the sky... I think I kind of know where we might be..."
Kai’s declaration drew the attention of everyone present, causing him to feel a slight sense of being overwhelmed.
"Err... As you know, I am very old and have traveled to many places in the universe... I have seen a place like this before..."
With a tone laced with helplessness, Kai gazed up at the five suns in the sky and uttered,
"The Old Planet where the ’Dwarven Race’ used to live before the ’Mana Descent’ event happened more than 2000 years ago had an environment similar to this place..."
"The alignment of the suns in the sky seems almost identical, and even the mana and elemental density in the atmosphere seem pretty similar..."
Kai’s voice grew solemn as he continued.
Upon hearing these words, Riya felt her legs tremble, and she nearly collapsed to the ground.
Link, on the other hand, immediately began to reject the possibility with annoyance.
"There’s no way that is real!"
"Everyone knows that the farther you try to teleport, the more energy you need to consume; even SS-rankers can’t teleport across galaxies this easily!"
"For such long-range teleportation, even a peak SS-ranker would have to set up a proper altar, use various artifacts to enhance themselves..."
"And the mana fluctuations created from something like that would be easily noticed by anyone, as the fluctuation would be too powerful to ignore!"
Link’s reasoning was sound: unless an SS-ranker possessed exceptional space-related abilities and a world authority capable of drastically reducing energy expenditure, intergalactic teleportation would be near impossible for most.
Creating a wormhole that spanned such vast distances across the space-time fabric would necessitate an enormous amount of energy!
"No... If the person uses the power of the ’Law’ of ’Cosmic Order’... the cost of teleporting people, the cooldown, and even the wormhole opening speed... everything can be ignored easily!"
"And to tell you the truth... I am sensing overwhelming fluctuations related to the ’Law’ of ’Cosmic Order’!"
"And you don’t have to doubt me whether I have gotten it wrong... I have close ties with the ’law’ of ’cosmic order’ too! I know its working mechanisms too well!"
Lia nodded her head in agreement with Kai’s statement, a look of resignation on her face.
"Link, Kai is telling the truth; I can also sense the ’law’ of ’cosmic order’ very accurately, and it seems that it was likely involved in this..."
"We might really have been teleported far far away from home..."
Upon hearing this, Link clenched his jaw so tightly that his teeth began to grind, his fingernails digging into his palms from the sheer force of his clenched fists.
"Sh*t!"
"Why now!? Why must this have had to happen now of all times when we were just minding our own business!? Sh*t!"
"We just recently managed to put our lives back on track! Ugh!"
In a fit of frustration, Link struck a nearby boulder, channeling his anger into the blow. The impact was so immense that the rock shattered into countless fragments, dispersed by the sheer force of the attack.
As the group found themselves in a state of bewilderment regarding their next move, Kai abruptly lifted his feline head and directed his gaze toward a specific point, his expression shifting to one of profound shock. Concurrently, Lia detected an unusual disturbance within the threads of fate. Her formidable precognitive abilities began to instill a sense of dread within her. "Link, Riya! Prepare yourselves! An immense tide of monsters is hurtling towards us! Ready for battle!" Lia exclaimed, her voice cutting through the uncertainty. With these urgent words, Lia swiftly drew her sword and ascended into the heavens to survey the unfolding spectacle. It was then she grasped the terrifying reality: hundreds of thousands of beasts were converging upon their position. "So many S-rankers! How is this possible? Where did they all come from! The entire human army doesn't boast such a formidable number of S-rank individuals!" Lia gasped. To Lia's utter astonishment, the colossal monster tide was comprised of countless ranks of exceedingly powerful S-rank beasts, each one appearing more malevolent than the last!
