Reborn as an Extra Chapter 702: A Lost ’Traveler’ in a Forgotten World. Part-4.
Previously on Reborn as an Extra...
Fade could not comprehend the guttural sounds the elderly half-orc uttered to the other, but for reasons unknown to him, his life was spared from immediate termination.
Instead, the colossal orc used its formidable telekinetic abilities to haul Fade from the cave, with the elder orc trailing behind them.
As he was being forcibly removed, Fade became aware that he was located within a colossal, ancient ruin.
This ancient structure stretched immensely towards the horizon. The ravages of time had severely dilapidated its form, leaving behind only scattered remnants of walls and broken debris.
Surrounding the entire ruin were imposing rocky hills, acting as impenetrable barriers on all sides.
Above, the sky remained illuminated by the same five suns, shining with relentless brilliance.
‘I am still trapped in this desolate landscape… could this be an orc settlement?’
With five suns gracing the sky, it was improbable that this was his original planet or solar system. However, the terrain bore a striking resemblance to the geography of the orc empire. Fade speculated he might be within some kind of dungeon connected to the orcs or their kingdom.
Despite Fade's desperate attempts to understand the situation and communicate, the half-orcs appeared utterly incapable of understanding his words, consistently disregarding his pleas and cries for mercy.
They unceremoniously dragged him across the sandy terrain as if he were worthless refuse. Numerous other half-orcs, engaged in their daily activities, observed Fade with expressions of surprise mingled with excitement.
As the towering orc propelled Fade toward the central sector of the ruins, dozens more orcs joined the procession, trailing behind with eager curiosity as they gazed upon Fade.
Neither the giant orc nor the elder made any move to stop the growing crowd that followed, leaving Fade with no recourse.
A few mischievous orc children even hurled their wooden toys and stones at him. Fortunately, these children were ordinary individuals, not awakeners, rendering their projectiles harmless to him.
Under normal circumstances, Fade would have certainly glared at these children and bellowed his customary threat: ‘Just you wait! Once I become stronger, I will defeat you all!’
However, today was different.
He understood that he was no longer the so-called ‘Chosen One,’ his system crippled, and his path to power irrevocably severed.
Originally, Fade was merely a timid and fearful individual, possessing talent that barely qualified him as a true awakener.
The system had repeatedly boosted his abilities using ‘Exp,’ but with its current damaged state, he had no means to further enhance his talent, effectively condemning him to an eternal existence at the early stage of Rank B!
Every skill he had acquired was mastered through the system's intervention, and it was the system that enabled him to utilize them.
Typically, mages dedicate themselves to researching spell circuits and constructing specific spell formations for various incantations. Fade, however, had never needed to adhere to such conventional methods.
Throughout his journey as a mage, Fade simply needed to click the ‘+’ symbol within his magic mastery interface. By expending a designated amount of ‘Exp,’ he could effortlessly acquire and unlock any spell imaginable!
Fade himself never researched or learned a single spell independently. As previously mentioned, the ‘Exp’ his system utilized was essentially the stolen destinies of others.
Once his system suffered damage and his connection to heavenly luck was severed, all those pilfered destinies spiraled out of control.
Some evaded capture, others devolved into chaos, and the majority vanished entirely, their support from heavenly luck completely extinguished.
Consequently, all the skills and spells Fade had accumulated through his system became virtually useless, as he promptly forgot the majority of his own techniques and attacks!
At this juncture, he was merely a B-ranker in name; he possessed no genuine combat prowess and could only recall a handful of feeble basic spells at best!
B-rankers boast a robust physique compared to ordinary individuals, yet it is universally acknowledged that base statistics alone are insufficient in this world.
Skills, techniques, buffs, talents, artifacts, and other such elements hold far greater significance than mere base stats!
An individual with 99 base strength points could still be defeated by someone possessing less than half that amount if the latter wielded a certain power skill.
And if legendary skills were introduced into the equation, even a person with a single-digit base strength stat could vanquish an opponent with 99 strength points!
Such is the profound impact of skills and talents in this world!
...
"ORor rorotoo ororo!"
While Fade was engrossed in lamenting his misfortune, the colossal orc conveyed him to the central expanse of the immense ruin.
This central area was a vast, open space dominated by a gigantic altar positioned at its heart.
Five distinct statues were arranged in a circle around the monumental altar.
A monumental sword, etched with celestial bodies like a distant star, a fiery supernova, and an enigmatic black hole, stood as the first statue. The second depicted a gladiator's gauntlet, its surface adorned with carvings that seemed to embody a flowing, cosmic rhythm. Next, a wand, sculpted from stone with such exquisite artistry it mimicked the appearance of natural wood, presented itself. Following that was a bow, its string taut, poised to release an arrow marked with the eternal symbol of infinity (∞). And finally, the fifth statue: a magnificent crown, its surface intricately patterned with constellations and vast galaxies. "Wh-what is this place!?" Fade had never encountered such a scene; it was utterly bewildering. Furthermore, the prior torment inflicted by Alverto, including being nailed to an altar, had left Fade with a severe case of PTSD related to altars. Upon merely seeing an altar, his body began to tremble uncontrollably, and he resolutely refused to advance. However, to his misfortune, the immense telekinetic power wielded by the giant orc was an authority he could not possibly defy. He was inexorably pulled forward, without a shred of mercy.
