Reborn as an Extra Chapter 647: I will not retreat Again... Part-6.
Previously on Reborn as an Extra...
Lia spewed out huge gouts of blood, her eyes turned blood-red, and blood even trickled from her ears.
The helmet, shattered earlier by the demons, had vanished entirely now, since Lia saw no point in reforming it without enough mana to sustain it.
Besides the helmet, she discarded the cape and leg guards too, directing all her defensive power solely to her torso and hands.
Her organs felt like they were melting into pulp, ready to rupture under the crushing strain that Kai’s power’s enormous consumption inflicted on her soul and body.
Wiping the blood from her mouth, Lia let out a bitter laugh at her own frailty.
’It’s still way too early for me to spam those city-destroying blasts like Rio and Link... that single one put such a heavy burden on me; I almost died for the second time today, and both times from my own powers...’
’What a joke...’
Inwardly mocking her weakness, Lia swung her sword leftward to parry the incoming spear thrust aimed straight at her left eye, which would have crushed her skull.
The clash of metal on metal rang out with sparks exploding in the air as the demon staggered off-balance from Lia's deflection of his sudden spear attack, and she instantly drove a fist into his gut, launching him far away once more!
Before Lia could even celebrate, Nine barreled in from behind with a full-powered punch, but she twisted her waist slightly aside and dropped her knees to evade low.
The instant Lia dodged, the hammer demon’s massive hammer whiffed completely and smashed into Nine instead, blasting him skyward like a launched rocket!
Lia seized the opportunity; still seated on the ground, she aimed her sword tip at the hammer demon's legs and unleashed her beam.
Unlike earlier, Lia's power output had dropped, weakening her beam strike, yet it packed enough punch to utterly vaporize the demon’s leg on a direct hit!
To Lia’s shock, however, a miasma-drenched arrow streaked in forcefully, knocking her sword tip aside at the final second and narrowly sparing the hammer demon!
The mighty beam just clipped the demon’s right leg, searing away a huge 'C'-shaped section of flesh, forcing him to collapse shrieking in agony!
"Tch, these long-ranged attackers are the most annoying..."
Long-range fighters were a nightmare to handle, especially for Lia—not simply because she fought with a sword, placing melee users at a disadvantage against distant archers and mages.
Her real issue lay in how attackers like the demon mage and archer operated from extreme distances.
Lia’s prediction skill came with strict range and duration limits.
Frequently, these long-range foes stayed far beyond her detection range.
And once their projectiles entered her prediction zone, they arrived so close that dodging became almost impossible!
Such attacks depended on blistering speed, and though Lia moved quickly herself, countering the frantic strikes of a peak S-rank demon proved far from easy.
The spear demon, hammer demon, and Nine posed far less danger to her than that bow-wielding pest.
By ramping up gravity to forge a crushing gravitational field over a huge swath where the archer hid, Lia unleashed a storm of hundreds of pure divine magic spears toward him!
’That should keep him occupied for a bit—’
Just as relief washed over Lia, a devastating blow struck her from behind, exploding pain across her back as she slammed face-first into the dirt!
"No wonder you dodged my strikes and humiliated me over and over! You can predict attacks!"
The sneaky backstabber turned out to be the spear demon, whom Lia had effortlessly countered and pummeled before.
For some reason, her prediction failed to warn her this time, though she quickly pieced together why.
’This f*cker! He sacrificed his soul to miasmic corruption!!’
From the edge of her vision, Lia glimpsed the demon’s feet—once clad in armor, now throbbing with thick miasmic corruption!
His very aura had grown wildly disorienting!
To wound Lia, this demon had deliberately traded his soul to miasmic corruption, gaining its aid to briefly disrupt her prediction skill!
That let him effortlessly spear her in the back while she targeted the archer with her divine magic barrage!
His spear cracked her battered armor and drove clean through her back, the tip bursting out from her stomach!
’Ugh.... This is bad...’
With Lia finally pinned and exposed, the fury-boiling hammer demon limped closer, dragging his enormous hammer behind.
Lia even felt Nine charging her position from the distance!
In mere seconds, the battle shifted from tough to utterly dire—all because of one tiny error!
A single lapse could reverse any fight's momentum, and her brief drop in vigilance left her utterly helpless!
As the colossal hammer hurtled toward her skull, time dragged to a crawl; Lia already foresaw her death there, unable to evade in her current bind.
"Die you annoying f*cker!!!"
