Reborn as an Extra Chapter 642: I will not retreat Again... Part-1.
Previously on Reborn as an Extra...
Since mastering Spirit Dive, Lia hadn't once resorted to her ultimate technique of summoning Kai himself.
Even during her clash with Rio at the Supreme tournament, summoning him was impossible because she knew Rio's 'Sword Intent' countered Kai perfectly.
The situation held true in the ascension spire as well.
As a spirit beast, Alverto's 'Soul Resonance' proved devastating against Kai, so Lia never risked calling him forth directly.
Today, however, everything changed.
Though Nine wasn't allying with the demons, his priority remained seizing Bela and the fairy race's legendary artifacts.
To put it simply, Lia now faced seven S-rankers, including the peak S-rank veterans Nine and Trnak!
It might not appear so, yet battling Nine and Trnak had already pushed Lia to her limits, given all she had to safeguard and the stakes in this fight.
With additional S-rankers entering the fray, Lia could no longer hold anything back.
An overwhelming pressure, heavy enough to suppress every creature on the battlefield, radiated outward in every direction while a huge spirit magic circle unfurled across the sky.
Spotting this, Trnak panicked and yelled at his group's two mages,
"Stop her!!"
The mages quickly attempted 'spell counter' and 'summoning ritual interruption' spells, yet they failed against the enormous magic circle.
"Wha!?"
"W-we can’t stop this summoning!? Wh-what kind of creature is she summoning to have such a powerful summoning circle!?"
As their spells proved useless, the mages freaked out; despite outranking Lia by a full tier, they couldn't disrupt her summoning circle—a clear warning that trouble loomed large.
While the mages panicked, Trnak and the rest stayed composed; melee fighters charged ahead as Trnak powered up a mighty bow shot and unleashed it toward Lia.
Regrettably for them, everyone arrived a moment too late.
A colossal silver paw intercepted all assaults, skills, and Trnak's arrow mid-flight, purifying them utterly before they neared Lia.
From the vast summoning circle emerged a towering Silver Lion, rivaling a five-story edifice, striding forth majestically with his enormous paw positioned before Lia and Nova as an impregnable barrier.
Merely the Silver Lion's aura paralyzed nearly every A-rank and lower being on the field, leaving only S-rankers able to stand firm!
Naturally, even they felt heavily weighed down by that formidable presence!
"You are all quite bold..."
Gazing down upon the seven S-rankers with fury blazing in his eyes, Kai declared,
"You don’t really think you can gang up together and bully my 'daughter' like that, do you?"
"Let me show you what it really means to bully others!"
With space-time itself warping as if turned into a weapon, Kai merely slammed his paw into void, distorting the fabric to unleash devastating gravitational surges!
These intense gravitational surges rippled across space-time, flinging foes away like dislodged planets or celestial bodies hurled from their paths with colossal might!
Scattered in all directions by the sheer power, the seven S-rankers crashed into hills and mountains, toppling them upon impact.
One slammed straight into the earth, carving a huge crater while his form contorted into a grotesque sculpture, spun and battered like a tire under excessive torque!
Naturally, Kai's immense power didn't leave Lia unscathed!
A gush of blood erupted from her mouth, her silver armor's luster faded, her helmet fragmented into shards, and numerous buffs vanished!
Nova rushed to steady her with tiny hands, but Lia halted her and said,
"Take Bela and the others; I've opened a vital escape path for you. Don't squander this hard-won opportunity..."
Nova tried to protest, but Lia shook her head and shoved her off; helpless, she could only depart.
At this point, Nova knew Lia's strength was immense, and lingering would only hinder her, complicating full-power exertion.
Tears welling in her eyes, fists clenched until nails bit into flesh, Nova bit back her emotions, cast one last glance at Lia's imposing form, and soared away.
Watching Nova depart, Lia pulled out a high-grade mana recovery potion and a high-grade healing potion, downing them swiftly.
More blood coughed up as healing magic activated and the mana potion restored her depleted reserves.
"This is the main reason why I don’t prefer interfering in your battles myself... you are still not ready to manifest my true power as of yet..."
"Just a simple basic attack of mine placed so much burden on you that it nearly shattered your internal organs..."
Upon hearing Kai, Lia wiped blood from her mouth and shot him a fierce glare.
"Who told you to use such a powerful attack then!? You nearly killed me!"
Helplessly, Kai shook his head.
"Believe me, that’s the weakest attack I could come up with in that moment... I didn’t even use my 'world authority' in that one..."
"It’s not even one percent of my power..."
The vast gap between Kai and Lia persisted; as a peak SS-ranker of vast might, channeling him overwhelmed her completely.
That single strike from Kai emptied her mana entirely, nearly ripping her body and soul apart!
Without her foresight confirming survival, Lia never would have risked such folly.
"Mana can be recovered, but the mental load and soul power depletion will only recover over time, so I can’t sustain you for long..."
"So, make yourself useful and stop chatting with me..."
After brushing death, Lia's mind reeled in irritation and unexplained rage.
Surveying the vast armies, she saw almost half of both forces slain or gravely wounded by the prior blast, halting the chaos.
This allowed the frantic fairies a moment to regroup and withdraw securely as assailants scrambled to regain control.
Almost every A-ranker perished from proximity to the strike, and among the seven S-rankers, only the frailer-bodied mages suffered lethal wounds, others sustaining light damage.
Nine clambered from a heap of rubble, drawing cursed artifact vitality to staunch his bleeding.
His right arm wrung like a twisted rag for drying, blood gushing fountain-like from countless wounds.
Trnak's upper body had rotated 180 degrees rearward, his fractured spine grinding horrifically with each motion amid excruciating agony!
From the seven S-rankers, merely four stayed battle-ready with minimal harm!
As Lia pondered catching her breath, a fresh teleportation gate materialized close by, ushering another foe onto the scene.
"No wonder there was such a powerful spatial fluctuation here... so it’s you who’s attacking my army, Divine Spirit General, Kawaki..."
The arrival boasted striking handsomeness, his pair of bluish-red demon horns enhancing his allure further.
Clad in bluish-red armor, the demon drew his broadsword, smirking at Kai before eyeing Lia and remarking,
"You have chosen a master?... that’s quite surprising..."
"I had no grudge with you divine general, but you have really pissed me off by attacking my subordinates today..."
Observing the newcomer, Lia furrowed her brow and queried Kai,
’Who is this demon now?’
[That’s Rahn... , one of the strongest S-rankers of this time period, I did hear that he was killed off by King Allen at some point...]
[Seeing him here is quite surprising for me too... ugh, I didn’t expect that such a big fish would be attracted over after using just a little bit of my power...]
[Sigh, what a hassle...]
