Lia commanded the battlefield by summoning dark clouds and a devastating rain of elemental spears that slaughtered hundreds of demons and humans alike. Veteran S-rankers Nine and Trnak, wary of her royal demon heritage, launched coordinated assaults, but she effortlessly redirected Nine's earth-infused palm strike and kicked him into a crater. Lia intercepted Trnak's miasmic arrow with her sword, firing a massive silver light beam that he reflected onto the human army using a mirror artifact. She countered by shattering a light elemental crystal into purifying fog, burning demons and imposing debuffs on her foes.

In retaliation for Lia's rain of spears and fog of purification strikes, the human army unleashed hundreds of laser blasts from their guns straight at her, yet Lia made no effort to defend against them.

Upon striking Lia’s silver armor, those assaults were either deflected elsewhere or detonated instantly upon touching her formidable silver protection.

Dozens of A-rankers along with demons charged at Lia, while countless potent skills were hurled her way.

Suddenly, a gigantic cyclone materialized as enormous quantities of water elementals were summoned.

Positioned at the cyclone's heart, Lia stayed utterly unscathed, whereas every assailant suffered the brunt of that catastrophe-level onslaught, flinging hundreds of thousands of regular humans and monsters thousands of meters into the distance.

"So you're capable of battle too... I figured the fairy race leaned more toward peace..."

Upon catching Lia’s remark, Nova folded her arms over her chest and shot back with a cocky tone,

"Heh, if a mere human steps up to defend the fairy race’s existence, how could I shrink back in terror and hide?"

"Beyond our race’s Royal fairies, I'm among the mightiest of the entire fairy folk right now... as a peak S-ranker, I outmatch any regular foe by far..."

Nova gazed at the humans and demons shredded by her ferocious cyclones and shook her head.

"We can't stay peaceful and frail forever... ever since discovering that recording, I've been picking up more fighting techniques; this is merely one example..."

Fairies, being a peace-oriented race, rarely bother learning or practicing combat abilities, preferring roles as healers and lifesavers.

Nova had followed suit before; she excelled more as a healer than a fighter. Only lately, driven into desperation, did she shift toward combat training.

Right as Nova opened her mouth for more words, Lia jabbed her sword toward what looked like thin air.

That seemingly aimless sword jab from Lia just barely blocked a fierce punch from Nine, who had barreled toward Nova with tremendous momentum and almost struck her.

"Argh!!"

Nine never anticipated Lia’s abrupt sword defense, convinced as he was that the thick silver fog and cyclone had concealed him perfectly.

His goal was to wound or outright slay Nova, removing her from the fight and curbing further losses among the human forces.

"Thou art a fool! Striking a lesser foe, thy character repulses me!"

Clutching his pained hand, injured by the tip of Lia’s blade infused with thick spiritual mana, Nine waved it dismissively.

"Don’t take it personally, Your Majesty; I’m simply aiming to cut down casualties on my side from your ally’s sweeping area assaults..."

"I’d face serious repercussions if too many of my troops fell in this clash, you know..."

Fury ignited in Nova the instant she heard that.

"Your people’s lives matter, but ours don’t!? You’re outright tormenting and slaughtering our kind! Treating fairies like mere potion components!"

Shaking his head, Nine pulled a bizarre artifact from his space ring and declared,

"Pardon me, fair lady, but duty compels me. I know nothing of what you mean, nor do I wish to..."

"My sole concern is my own people, not outsiders..."

Lia parried the strike once more, though surprise flickered across her face, concealed by her helmet this time.

"Hmm?"

This blow’s force felt utterly altered, and oddly, Nine’s speed had surged after deploying that odd statue-resembling artifact.

Resembling a warped entity’s figurine, the artifact shone with intense crimson light while orbiting Nine.

’What’s that?’

[No clue, but it feels oddly familiar; probably some ’demonic sacrifice item’ that boosts physical prowess temporarily via a sacrifice...]

[He’s sacrificing something for sure... could be vitality, lifespan, or soul power... wait? That weird vibe... he’s not offering up his own...]

Lia grasped Kai’s implication: artifacts fueled by vitality, lifespan, or soul power didn’t demand personal supply of such ’energy.’

Alternatives existed, like substituting with others’ lives under proper setups.

Given the circumstances, Nine was doubtless harnessing vitality extracted from tortured and slain fairies, stockpiled in this artifact as battle fuel.

’Your strikes pack more punch and velocity now, but against Rio and Link, even this mighty enhancement leaves you far short...’

Though a formidable S-ranker martial artist, Nine paled in comparison to Rio and Link, who could decimate several S-rankers despite lagging a whole realm behind.

Ultimately, the surge from a legendary skill honed to near mastery far surpassed what a tainted artifact like this could offer.

Lia warped gravity via divine spirit magic, hurling Nine far off. She then spun about, unleashing a flurry of erratic, unforeseeable sword thrusts with her masterful technique!

Right then, a barrage of arrows assaulted both her and Nova simultaneously from beyond the cyclone core’s sight.

Relying on foresight, Lia darted on pure instinct, diverting only the deadly arrows and redirecting them mid-flight before impact.
