Luo Yanqing, seated in the passenger seat, let out occasional soft chuckles upon hearing Kang Li’s words.

Upon hearing Luo Yanqing explain that Su Man had slandered Kang Li, Cai Xiufen's face instantly darkened. She even mused that had she been present that night, she would have ripped Su Man's tongue out.

Cai Xiufen, giving Kang Li a look that implied "Just listen to yourself try to talk your way out of this," folded her arms and awaited further explanation. Perceiving the message in her mother's gaze, Kang Li offered a sheepish grin. "Mom, I was merely speaking nonsense. It doesn't hold any real significance."

Cai Xiufen responded, "Do you, or do you not, acknowledge that you are a young lady?"

Kang Li nodded vigorously, like a pecking chick.

Cai Xiufen continued, "If you understand that, then why speak such utter foolishness?! What do you mean by 'madly in love with you'? If that were overheard by others, who knows what gossip would circulate about you."

She made a small gesture as if zipping her lips shut, adopting an air of perfect obedience.
