Lu Manman confronted her husband Wen Yun, who coldly admitted he never loved her and married solely for her family's assets, now seized amid their bankruptcy. Mocking her pain and composure, he embraced his mistress as Lu Manman, heartbroken and bleeding from abdominal cramps, silently left the villa into the cold night. A familiar speeding car struck her with a resounding crash, reaching what seemed life's dead end.

Agony.

Unbearable torment.

As she forced her eyes open, a piercing glare slammed them shut once more.

What in the world?!

She pondered in silence.

Dead already, yet pain still ravaged her body—how?!

The car collision flashed repeatedly through her mind. She recalled the abrupt plunge into darkness while clutching her belly as consciousness slipped away.

She'd seen a gruesome accident once before. The victim, crushed beneath a delivery truck, ended up a mangled heap of blood and gore, utterly unrecognizable.

Her own fate must have mirrored that horror.

Such a miserable end, right at her home's entrance. Did Wen Yun feel no fear of karmic backlash?

“Manman, you’re awake, why keep your eyes closed? Don’t scare me.” A familiar woman’s voice sounded close by her ear.

Lu Manman froze in disbelief.

This had to be a hallucination!

“Manman.” The voice turned frantic. “Open your eyes, or I’ll start smacking you.”

At last, Lu Manman pried her eyes open.

The light no longer stabbed so fiercely this time. She stared straight at the woman facing her.

Hadn’t this woman perished already!?

“Did the crash turn you silly? What’s with that stare!” The woman recoiled in alarm, her brows tightly furrowed.

“Gu Xin, are we in heaven or hell?” Lu Manman questioned gravely.

Gu Xin gaped in bewilderment. She pressed a palm to Lu Manman’s forehead, then her own. After a moment, she declared, “That hit must’ve scrambled your brains! I’m perfectly fine—who’re you wishing dead!”

Lu Manman stared at her in utter shock. “You’re not dead?!”

Gu Xin rolled her eyes. “Whatever, I’ll fetch Wen Yun. Can’t talk sense with someone so head-over-heels in love.”

With that, Gu Xin moved to make the call.

“Don’t call!” Lu Manman bolted from the bed in panic, yanking the phone from Gu Xin’s hand.

Gu Xin eyed her in bewilderment. “You fought with Wen Yun?”

“Gu Xin, be honest. Are we dead? Don’t deceive me!” Lu Manman demanded intensely.

Gu Xin flinched at Lu Manman’s fierce expression. Composed yet resolute, she stated, “I’m truly alive. Can’t say about you! I’m just 23, in the bloom of youth—dying now would be too tragic!”

“23 years old?” Lu Manman reeled once more.

Hadn’t they reached 30 already?!

How had she abruptly turned 23?

“Manman, have you truly gone daft? How will I face your parents! I so regret dragging you to the theme park. You got struck by a car right as we left, now sporting this massive lump on your head. And your mind’s not right anymore…” Gu Xin burst into tears.

Lu Manman’s headache intensified. “Enough, quit the racket. I’m no idiot! Give me a moment to think.”

“Alright.” Gu Xin swiftly composed herself.

Silence fell.

Lu Manman scanned her surroundings.

A room, hospital-like despite its warm coziness.

Gu Xin’s attire matched the trendy styles they favored at 23.

Yet she knew for certain the car crash had just happened. The bodily and heartfelt anguish lingered vividly.

All signs pointed to one conclusion.

Had she reincarnated?!
