The massive Floating Vessel, a billion-dollar deep-sea mining project, has reached its final testing phase in Sea Province. While ostensibly built for industrial mining, the vessel's lush, resort-like appearance has captivated the public, sparking widespread debate about its true purpose and financial viability. As Tang Qing arrives to oversee the rigorous week-long acceptance testing, the world watches to see if this extravagant construction is a functional technological marvel or merely a luxurious toy.

Greetings were exchanged, and then the party moved forward.

"Please, proceed," Tang Qing signaled.

The group began boarding the vessel. Very few individuals were permitted to ascend; excluding the test personnel, base staff, and construction crew, no sightseeing was allowed today.

To this arrangement, nobody raised any objections.

In truth, this massive structure had been docked at the site for an entire year. Most personnel stationed here had already come aboard multiple times, while the builders were present daily. There was little reason to join the crowd again.

...

Walking along the shore and onto the bridge, they noticed a change. The original floating structure had become permanent. To support the path toward the Floater, concrete pillars had been driven into the seabed, with only a small portion protruding above the surface.

Barely half a meter.

Above this, a steel framework provided the necessary support.

This design ensured that the entire bridge could be disassembled at a moment's notice. The low-profile concrete pylons remained ecologically unobtrusive and could simply be reattached whenever operations resumed.

It was highly efficient.

...

Soon, they drew close and ascended to the 'deck' via a 45-degree steel staircase. Rather than standard non-slip coatings, the surface was finished with a layer of asphalt.

Stepping onto it felt like walking on solid ground.

A fleet of sightseeing carts awaited them nearby. It was difficult to fathom that this platform was floating; it felt purely like an island. Its immense scale provided a level of stability that rivaled land.

"It is remarkably stable!" one official remarked.

"Indeed," Tang Qing agreed.

"Boss Tang, what kind of wind speeds can this withstand?" another leader asked, his curiosity piqued.

Upon hearing the query, Tang Qing offered a faint smile.

"It is hard to pinpoint an exact limit. The various structures, including the housing, the greenery, and the ship itself, have differing tolerance thresholds, and work zones are selected with strict safety margins. Should the winds reach dangerous levels, staff can retreat into the internal passages and buildings beneath the deck. In that sense, I would say it treats the waves with total indifference."

Mining necessarily requires careful site selection, ensuring operations avoid active typhoon paths. As for oceanic swells, it could handle anything up to twenty meters with absolute confidence. Waves exceeding twenty meters are rare and statistically improbable.

Furthermore, even if such swells did occur, they would typically manifest near coastlines. Events like the Haiti earthquake, which trigger tsunamis of several dozen meters in height, actually result in minimal water displacement in the deep ocean, often creating swells of only one or two meters.

The Floater is simply too massive—substantially heavier than a naval aircraft carrier. Given its robust design, intricate internal structural integrity, the forces of nature are nothing more than a mild disturbance.

If someone intended to sabotage it, they would find that even a barrage of explosives would struggle to sink it.

The high-strength alloy sealed compartments were not merely for show. Even striking it with a hundred Tomahawk missiles might fail to bring it down; its resilience is genuinely unmatched.

Naturally, no reasonable person would resort to such extreme measures against the Floater. Even if they attempted it, they would likely be intercepted before they could even initiate an attack.

...

"Truly impressive!" the onlookers cheered, filled with admiration. Glancing at the sprawling, island-like structure that seemed to lack visible boundaries, they found no reason to doubt Tang Qing’s assertions.

They boarded a cart and moved away from the platform, traveling along a road flanked by tall trees. The shade and lush environment made it almost impossible to believe this was a facility meant for the open sea.

Looking left and right, the trees—though not particularly rare species—added a touch of refreshing novelty.

Offices, dormitories, a cafeteria, and central command facilities were all arranged with precision.

Modern architecture dominated the landscape, including a full-sized gymnasium, yet not a single mining machine marred the view of the main deck.

At the center sat a towering iron column with an integrated elevator. Surrounding this pillar was a vast artificial lake, situated on lower, near-sea-level terrain. The circular basin spanned tens of thousands of square meters, ringed by a beach complete with peaceful pavilions. It resembled a luxury holiday resort more than a mining site.

"The layout is brilliant," a visitor commented.

"It provides a space for everyone to unwind during their downtime," Tang Qing explained with a smile.

"The facility has direct maritime access for swimming, and the central design acts as a dampener for structural stress caused by heavy swells."
