While the Jiang Family in D State wallowed in utter turmoil, Chiang Xiao and Meng Xinian savored a leisurely and utterly relaxed day.
During the morning, Meng Xinian lingered at home alongside her, sketching and crafting talisman diagrams. By noon, they ventured out for a meal, enjoyed a movie, and headed to the hospital right after.
Meng Chaojun had learned that Meng Xinian turned down marrying and being intimate with Chiang Xiao initially, so his expression soured a bit upon seeing her.
In contrast, Chiang Xiao now struck him as far more agreeable.
He realized he had misjudged Chiang Xiao terribly in the past.
Thus, his words to Chiang Xiao that day carried an unusually warm tone.
Meng Sheng stuck around the entire time. Whenever he had to dash back to the Meng Family for supplies, he'd arrange for a nurse to keep an eye on Meng Chaojun.
As Chiang Xiao chatted with Meng Chaojun, she shot Meng Xinian a quick glance.
Meng Xinian trailed her into the corridor.
"What’s up?"
Meng Xinian sensed he had something important to share.
Meng Sheng explained, "Xinian, should we post a guard for him as well? Lately, I’ve spotted someone lurking nearby more than once. Twice, the exact same figure slipped past the doorway."
Meng Xinian’s brows furrowed.
"What sort of person?"
"A guy in his twenties, though I checked thoroughly outside and he wasn’t with any patient’s relatives, so I figure he’s an intruder."
This might well be one of Nian Che’s crew.
Such folks harbor dark motives. Even without knowing their scheme, Meng Xinian viewed their presence as a constant menace, utterly repulsive.
"Got it. You proceed with the discharge paperwork, and we’ll bring him home soon."
She decided on the spot.
With the hospital’s regimen now clear and compatible with Chiang Xiao’s remedies, home recovery while taking her daily brews would work better.
The results could prove far superior to hospital care.
"Discharge?" Meng Sheng looked startled.
"Yes." Meng Xinian clapped his shoulder, "Handle it, and inform the doctor it’s my call. If my signature’s required, fetch the form."
"Alright then."
Meng Sheng set off to complete the procedures. Meng Xinian slipped back inside and began gathering their things right away.
Chiang Xiao and Meng Chaojun both appeared surprised.
"What are you doing?"
"Little, is discharging him fine right now?" Meng Xinian ignored Meng Chaojun’s query and turned to Chiang Xiao.
Chiang Xiao had surmised that Meng Sheng shared some concern moments ago.
For Meng Xinian to opt for this, the issue had to be serious, so she replied promptly, "No issue at all; resting at home works perfectly."
"Then rise, dress, and we’re heading home." Meng Xinian eyed Meng Chaojun.
Meng Chaojun’s face darkened, "What’s really happening? At least give me some explanation!"
"No need; we’ll discuss it at home."
This stubborn kid, forever so aloof and unyielding with him!
Meng Chaojun grew irritated yet complied, getting out of bed.
Old Meng lit up in surprise at their joint return but soon pieced it together, pondering if Meng Xinian’s trip to Country U prompted his son to squeeze in extra days for a glimpse.
Though whether the young pair would remain home was uncertain.
Once inside, Meng Sheng hauled in items to organize. His parents bustled in the kitchen prepping dinner, filling the house with vibrant energy amid the crowd.
